flashy09, I agree that timelines in kidnappings are huge. They are also huge in searching for missing persons (last seen, etc) and in searching for the perpetrators of many other types of crimes. But clearly, LE does not think that public input into the timeline surrounding Summer's disappearance is necessary. They also may not actually know when exactly Summer was last seen, and may feel that accounts vary enough to call a firm date/time/location into question. However, I can't imagine that if that timeline varied tremendously from 3:30pm-ish on the 15th (when seen by H and A) and 6:30pm-ish (when 911 call was logged) that LE would not comment on that. Between A, H, Gma, CBW, the three boys...that would be quite a stretch kwim? All LE has asked for is public input regarding the Tacoma truck with ladder rack- which is ALSO a part of the timeline.
BBM:
The following quote from Sheriff Lawson I find interesting, especially that last bit about 'driving a company truck', 'a lot of officers here are familiar with this gentleman', 'we believe that he actually saw it'.
“You would think if somebody had seen something, they would come forward, even if they just had the truck and didn’t see anything,” Lawson said of the driver. “It may be somebody that has paid no attention to this or maybe somebody that’s got a criminal record and was driving and wasn’t supposed to be driving too.”
Months later, that truck and its driver haven’t been identified. However, Lawson did share more about the person who gave that information about that truck.
“It was somebody driving a company truck that a lot of officers here are familiar with this gentleman, and we believe that he actually saw it,” he said.
Almost five months, more than 1,500 tips and a massive ground search later, the question of where Summer Wells is still remains.
“Nothing pointing to abduction, nothing pointing to foul play, other than her walking out, outside the house and not being found is basically the main thing right now,” said Sheriff Lawson. “What actually happened to her? We’re still trying to find out.”
I struggle with how they can have a vehicle of interest to the investigation that has not been located, seen by an apparently reputable source (at least reputable to local LE) around the time of Summer's disappearance, (although I also don't understand how reputable this source could be if they can't recall if it was the evening of the 14th or the day of the 15th- unless it was possibly both, or the witness to the truck drives by VERY frequently) issue an Amber Alert and keep it active, call in CARD, and not consider abduction high on the list of possibilities.
That's just my thoughts, though. I don't know what else to make of LE's approach to this particular case.
