Sometimes this is how cases are reopened or cracked, when a simple interview gives clues. I believe grandma meant "we" when she said we. I don't say "we" when I take my dog out. I don't say "we" went outside. I say I took my dog outside or I let my cat outside.

That seems like a personal preference or maybe the way you view your pets. Many people, myself included, would absolutely say "we went" when talking about going somewhere with our pets.

We can over analyse until the cows come home, and trust me on this case we have.

I for one, have come to realise that 9 times out of 10 it will just leave you scratching your head and you come away even more confused.

Some of the things the Well's say, especially Don, have a completely different meaning to how we would say things.

When transcribing the interview, I did pick up on the "we", and it did give me pause for a second, but I've learnt my lesson after countless interviews, not to try to make sense of every word spoken. It will have you going round in circles.

It could mean something, but I think it probably meant nothing.

In our everyday conversations, do we always make sense? Sometimes what's in your head doesn't always translate into the words that come out of your mouth. Or maybe that's just me, as sometimes I struggle to articulate my thoughts.

Sometimes it's the unspoken words that have the most meaning.

"And then we come back, and I went in my camper after we'd brought my groceries in for me. And the boys helped with that, and of course Summer. And I laid down and went to sleep, and I got up, and I was sitting in my doorway, and we come out and Candus asked me what I was doing. I said "well we gotta transplant these little cactus' into bigger pots."

I take this to mean each of them were in their own homes, then each came out of their own home, putting them both outside when they had this interaction. "Candus and I both came outside, and she asked me..."

She may have just slightly got her order mixed up, ie, 'she got up and was sitting inside at the door, when Candus came over, opened the door, asked her what she was doing, and 'they' came out and grandma said, gotta plant cactus'?

I will say an apology to JC40 for my sarcastic and unnecessary response.

<modsnip> I have trouble with the comparison of Michael "Monkey" Vaughn's family. The Summer Wells family appears to have several known individuals who harbor grudges. I do agree the linguistics is fascinating. But I recall using the word "actually" to answer a local police officer and I was not lying. I was clarifying. The accident theory is possible but I have trouble believing there would dispose the body. I would like to knoe where the toys and clothes are now. It is weird to give them all away especially since Candus was said to have recently bought many items for Summer. <modsnip> Hope and prayers for Summer.

"While investigators do not have any evidence that Summer was abducted, they have been covering all their bases. They have interviewed known sex offenders in the area. They also have been following up on all vehicle descriptions given to them that may have been in the area that day."

"One of those vehicles law enforcement officials would like to find is a 1998-2000 maroon or red Toyota Tacoma, with a full bed ladder rack and white buckets in the truck bed. A witness who is regularly in the area as part of his job spotted the truck in the area. Investigators would like to speak to the driver."

[...]

"Officials said they are not releasing too many details including the exact timeline behind the young girl's disappearance as it is important to the ongoing investigation."

"The sheriff said investigators have scoured through all the available surveillance video they could find that was near the young girl's home, but it is a very rural residential area, so cameras are few and far between."

Do we know who this witness was? Could it have been someone that worked with Don. Wasn't there a guy that sometimes caught a ride to work with him?

I haven’t seen anything about this witness, but I’m behind. Maybe a mail carrier or someone with a regular route? Driver for a camp or summer school?

<moo> Seems a little late in the day for those. What time did Summer go missing?

"The driver of the truck is believed to be a potential witness since the truck was seen in the area of the Wells family home around the time she went missing."

Probably, but I guess it would depend on the employer and whether LE simply asked for something like “late afternoon” or more specific, like 5-6pm. Could also be something like Amazon, a standing evening pizza delivery to a shut-in, a program like Meals on Wheels, etc.

Quotes RSBM.

CH stated that LE hasn't contacted her since December. Why hasn't she or CW contacted LE.
I would be on the phone to them every day!

IMO, at some point, it would mean daily extra-hurt, to be told the same thing every day. I have no idea how long I would keep calling them. I just think it would get harder every day.

With such a vicious robbery, where suffocation via plastic bag was in play, there should be no use of the word "we" in his language AFTER the robbers enter the scene.

In your scenario, the victim could use "I" to distance themself from the robbers but also could say "we" because it's the first time they all walked together to a new location. Our minds don't all process trauma the same way. JMO.

I would like to knoe where the toys and clothes are now. It is weird to give them all away

Was there ever anything said about giving away clothes/toys?

Hi
That's a possibility but highly unlikely Imo.

As the pronoun "we" not only tells us there is more that one person. It also shows unity and togetherness. The victim could have said, they forced me, they dragged me, they told me, they threatened me etc etc.. It is not written in stone. But if "we" comes AFTER an alleged assault, robbery and so on, it must be explored to see if the victim knew the assailants and was in on the crime. IMO

Yes. I no longer know if this is factual. The statement was made by a person on a channel Websleuths had supported in the past. Something has changed. I am not able to mention the source publically on the forum.

We know that the parents were doing a lot of work to the home. I wouldn’t be surprised if normal winnowing of outgrown/damaged items morphed into something else. It’s easy for soft items like clothing and stuffed animals to get mold, for example.

There was a question if Summer's parents still have all of her belongings such as toys and clothes. I don't think the factual answer would mean anything if we actually knew it. For me, I would understand a parent who could not look at belongings of a missing child and needed it packed away or removed from the home, even if it was permanent. On the other hand, you hear of parents of missing children essentially freezing in time the child's bedroom. Both scenarios are incredibly sad and understandable. IMO

Now would be a really good time for CW to get together with LE working to find Summer Moon Utah Wells and do a presser. Clear the air. MOO
Agree. People would really respect her for doing so, and she'd get folks in her camp. Great idea. She could have her Mom along with her for support.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Yeah sorry, but I don't think I would be able to understand that mindset.

I cannot imagine getting rid of my missing child's things, or even storing them elsewhere. Maybe after some time has passed, but certainly not within the first year.

All that being said, I'm not sure this is even true. I can't recall any interview where getting rid of Summer's belongings was mentioned. I do remember the Well's doing a video tour and Summer's toys were all still there, neatly lined up in the basement.

Hmmm would they though? I think it would just add more fuel to the fire at this point.

Grandma only said "we come out", and it's been picked apart.

I think the best thing would be for all of them to get out of the public gaze for a little while.

I don't think it would harm Summer if they did. She won't be forgotten by many for a long time, if ever.
