Missing girl's father shares heartbreaking message as cops give update

Summer Wells' family continues to hold out for hope as they celebrated their daughter's ninth birthday on Tuesday.

The family of missing girl Summer Wells continues to hold out for hope as they celebrate their daughter's ninth birthday.

Her parents posted a collection of photos of Summer, who was last seen on June 15, 2021, and wrote, 'Happy birthday summer moon mommy and daddy love you miss you more than anything in this world.'

'We live with endless possibilities of what our precious girl has gone through,' Summer's father, Donald 'Don' Wells, told the DailyMail.com.

'She could be down the street, she could be in another country, she could be abused for all these years, she could be with God. We have no idea.'

Don told the DailyMail.com that he has been in communication with the TBI and police, who have assured his family that they are continuing to investigate the case and are still receiving leads weekly.

When asked what his message would be to Summer, he responded, 'Summer - don't give up. Pray to God. Never ever believe that we do not love you. We love you Summer. Your brothers love you dearly.'

The TBI and Hawkins Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to the DailyMail.com's requests for comment.

I wonder if search teams have ever over the land in the dead of winter. When she vanished in June, everything was abundant and lush. All the teams talked about the difficulty of the terrain.

I’m sure they have, perhaps not recently. Depending on a missing person investigation LE will send SAR out when seasons change. During the winter months water levels are typically lower, ground disturbances more noticeable, wild life patterns shift, etc. Drone imaginary from the terrain can be compared again. Of course there are challenges within all of this as well. imo

Thanks for the info. With very rugged terrain and a small girl, a deep crevice, hole or cave opening might be covered in the summer then visible in winter. So, I'm glad to know it's standard to search in the different seasons.

Google Maps has Mount Roosevelt about 120 miles from Hawkins County and Crossville, where the story is datelined, may be another 15-20 miles. However, it is straight interstate, with I-81 being very near Hawkins and merging with I-40 West. So if she had been abducted . . . With a June sunset and a late afternoon disappearance, Mount Roosevelt might be a good stopping place for the night. In photos it appears very desolate.

Prayers for Summer Moon, hopefully something breaks and this case gets solved. Does anyone know if the parents still live in Tennessee? I haven't been able to follow as much as I used to. I still think of Summer frequently and hold onto the hope of her being found alive and well with someone who is treating her well.

I had heard that they sold the home and moved to Arkansas. Not sure how accurate that is.
