MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A body was recovered from the Mississippi River on the Arkansas side of the I-40 bridge Saturday afternoon, according to Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was discovered south of West Memphis across from President’s Island around 1 p.m. The body has not been identified at this time.

The body was sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for identification and cause of death.

The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office will be the investigating agency with help from the Memphis Police Department. WREG spotted Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis on the scene.

I think it may be here, and that peaked roof building is newer than any available aerial.

Thanks for that. I see two different staircases for folks to come down. Now I have more questions than ever.

In the video of Tamia dancing, she could barely keep her balance. If she continued to drink on the cruise, her state could have become much worse, although we have no idea at what point the video was taken.

I can't see her exiting and going up that hill unassisted. Someone on that cruise should have noticed Tamia's state and the fact she was being helped to walk up that ramp? I can see how the "friends" could have missed her exit - it looked like waves of folks exiting in groups. If they were up on the second floor, or even towards the back of the boat on the first floor, they would have missed her exiting. No one was moving very fast though.

I looked at the temps of the Mississipi River in Memphis at this time of year - 67-68 degrees. If Tamia went overboard, wouldn't she have been found by now? It's been two weeks.
I have not gone through the whole thread, is the video of Tamia dancing in this thread? I cannot find a video on YouTube that shows Tamia on the boat dancing. Can you tell me where to find it, please?

It is a female body, and the Memphis police were there also :(

* There will be tears and grief, whoever the body turns out to be. There is a family that will need prayers and support. I can’t imagine knowing my daughter was found in the water.

Her poor family - this seems like it's been harder than it needs to be to get info. I feel for them.

*I think so too. Surely LE would be cognizant of the high probability that this news would travel to Tamia’s family. I would think there is a family liaison that could have contacted her mom.

The Dock Ellis Foundation, a non-profit that assists minority crime victims, has stepped in to assist Tamia’s family. The foundation’s CEO, Jasmine Ellis, said they’ve been contributing to search and rescue efforts in the case, which have been paused while they wait for authorities to identify the body.

“They’ve definitely reached out to the family; however, until they are able to identify the body, there will be really no communication in regards to what’s going on with the body they recovered yesterday,” said Ellis. “So, we have not received any word. We just have to sit back and wait for the identification to happen.”

do we know approximately how long it will take to identify?

If there are dental records available, it shouldn't take long at all.

Thinking of her family at this time. I hope they have a lot of support and help right now.

(SBM) normally I'd agree - but this news traveled at incredible speed. LE found the body at around 1 pm. Bria Jones tweeted and did a quick FB Live at 2:57 pm and 3:07 pm. IMO there was a high chance that the family might have found out before LE could contact them unless LE imposed some kind of news embargo.

Mitochondrial DNA could be used. It is fast and at least can rule out. Not always in, but sometimes.

In addition, LE may be aware of other persons who may be in the river. Tamia has gotten the coverage, but we don't know there aren't others waiting as well.
