Poor little sweetheart. I'm thinking it's someone close by who knew she was alone. I hope they know who and will make an arrest soon.
Metro police say the 45-year-old man lives two doors down from the Arteaga family, and while they didn’t know each other, they at least “knew of” each other.
Evidence found at the scene reportedly led to Coons’ identification, and authorities say the “meticulous processing of the crime scene” and “scientific analysis” of evidence was “critical to the investigation.”
Metro police say records show he has been convicted of more than 30 offenses, both felonies and misdemeanors, since 1992, including charges for trespassing, DUI, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment.
Coons was last convicted of felony marijuana possession and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon in January 2016. He got an eight-year probated sentence.

Neighbors say Coons lives in the mobile home community for about a decade.
Margaret Harper said he cut grass and washed cars.
"I’ve seen him out here mowing lawns thinking he’s got the nerve," said Harper,
Harper said she has suspected him from the beginning.
“My gut feeling was, he’s got a guilty conscience," said Harper.
She told police about an incident involving him at the Yhoana's vigil.
"I walked over and put a candle in his hand and all he did was dropped his head and walked away. I said to some detectives, 'Did you see that?'" said Harper.

He had been identified since the initial stages of the investigation as a possible suspect. DNA, among other "scientific analysis" of evidence by both MNPD and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation led to Coons, MNPD Chief Steve Anderson said.
