After watching Tom Cruise's Mission Scientology Impossible... RUN KATIE RUN!!!
Tom is not Canadian.
I hope you get power back!I am a Virginia native.![]()
You are right, Sorry about that, turns out he lived there for a few years in his youth.
o/t day 4 still waiting for power.
That would accomplish absolutely nothing. They are legally married.
He is considered the legal father, regardless.

Just have to say I <3 Steely and Gitana! :blowkiss:
Even after watching the funny ones it is heartbreaking to know that there are some poor people that really believe in this "religion". I hope that some day they finally have their eyes opened up to the true dangers that come with it.
Glad that Katie finally woke up. Now I hope that she can keep Suri out of their clutches for good. Perhaps it would be wise for Katie and her divorce lawyers to make a disc of all of the things out there about this "religion" to use as evidence as to why she must have full custody of Suri with Tom getting only supervised visitation.

New York has this on the books: Effective 1/1/98, the father's name will not go on the birth certificate unless he first acknowledges paternity, or an Order of Filiation (Paternity) has been issued. (I'm sorry, I cannot post the link and will try again later).
Since Suri was born in 2006, I do not believe paternity is an issue in this instance. The prior poster was correct about the legal father having to overcome that burden if the parties felt or admitted there was someone else that is the natural father. MOO.

Yeah, I was really thinking about that this morning during my hike. That Mission Impossible video of TC was not supposed to be leaked to us "spectators". It was basically a long infomercial for the religion, used to encourage members to work harder and give more money and time to the church. That's what all that carp about not being able to take vacations and "romp" and "play" like spectators and how he has to work and work and "help" people because we are all, including all the world leaders, depending on him, and how if those watching don't know how to help they need to "learn" (i.e., give more money to the church for classes, counseling, auditing, etc).
I have been reading the stories of ex-scientologists that some sweet poster linked to (sorry! can't remember who!). They are mostly people who were raised in the church or were quite young when they joined. The stories are all about the thousands and thousands spent on it and how much drudgery they are expected to do, like cleaning toilets at ranches, or on boats or whatever, for the benefit of the church. Apparently, the church doesn't hire staff. Members do all the work.
So, the message is that if a super star like TC can be that committed, never taking vacations and working his tail off for the cause, because they "know" and the rest of us don't, so they are compelled to "help", then regular members have no excuse and need to be devoting their lives (money) to the church as well.
I find that unconscionable.
The likes of TC and John Travolta, they don't have the lives of the average person who joins that church. They aren't subjected to drudgery, fines, financial issues as a result of auditing, etc.
I had a client who I helped get a legal separation from his wife. He loved her and wanted to stay with her. But she was ruining their credit and incurring huge amounts of debt that he was also responsible for since they were married. First, she spent upwards of $100,000.00 auditing. Much was from equity lines and credit cards. It was all done without his knowledge.
When he found out, he blew a gasket and threatened divorce. She promised never to do it again. She did. The next time, a few years later, he found she spent around 50k or so.
That is a TON of money. And these are just middle class folks. They couldn't afford that.
So TC's little infomercial is despicable to me.
Oh, and TC is a big liar about not being able to "romp" and "play" because he has so much "work" for the cause:

You get the point.
I remember first seeing this and being so disturbed by it. This guy is a real scary jerk. Who talks like that?

Some Scientologists have been forced to clean dumpsters with a toothbrush for transgressing the unwritten laws. I'm fairly certain that none of the high profile Hollywood Sceintologists were never asked to do that. Also, Tom doesn't work 100 hour weeks for about $.36 an hour. Yes you read that right, about thirty six cents an hour. The church deliberately keeps these people poor so they can't leave. IIRC, one former Scientologist interviewed in one of the documentaries said he was paid a total of about $24,000 over 15 years service.
JMO, but I think psychopaths will do very well in this type of environment. I think David Miscavige is a psychopath.
There are two Scientologys that exist. One is for the high rollers who are famous people with a lot of dough to give and then another, secret, one for the lower classes. If somebody watches the two long videos I posted you'll get a good understanding of them.
