Well, what i mean is if the man wasn't willing to marry and make things legal before a baby is born, then what rights should he have?

he opted out, in my opinion.

why should she even put his name on the birth certificate?

i understand there are women out there just looking for a meal ticket. but in Cruise's case, it looks like he needed a dose of 'hetro' publicity and he used this woman for his publicity purposes.

i think it does happen in some cases some men deliberately impregnate women for their own agendas which aren't in keeping with ideal baby-making ideals. this, all things seem to point, appears to be one such case.

call me judgmental. i'd like to see evidence it's actually his.

maybe, of course, it's a storm in a teacup and just a made up story and all is proceeding towards a wedding and security for Holmes and the baby?

if not: does she get to keep the $20 million airplane he supposedly gifted her with? :truce:

Well, what if she didn't tell him that she was pregnant? What if she did it behind his back just to have a baby? Should he and the child suffer because she's an ignorant beyotch???

Most places will NOT allow her to put the name on the birth certificate because some women (gasp) don't tell the truth. They have to go to court later and have DNA testing done.

I don't know about the jet. I guess we'll find out!!

MSNBC is reporting, courtesy of dish from the upcoming Life & Style Weekly, that the TomKat engagement may be off. Word is that Tom Cruise had a difficult holiday stay with Katie Holmes and her relatives.

"Tom and Katie ended up leaving – three days earlier than planned," an insider claims. "Katie was in tears, but that's standard when it comes to dealing with family matters and Tom."

Mr. Cruise's spokesman denies the story.

I guess the true brainwashing test will come when we see if Katie disowns her own family for Tom. I can only imagine that Katie is in seclusion with her Scientologist mentors.

Tom is an idiot. I'm just not so sure that Katie sees that at this point.

Her father is an attorney and they are Catholic. I have to seriously doubt that they're just going to hand over their grandchild to be raised by a nut. :twocents:
This is interesting. So, can you imagine uneducated, Mr. Know-It-All Tom trying to spout off on some topic to her educated father. I hope to hell her father put him in his place. I somehow don't think that Tom would take too kindly to being exposed for what he really is--an idiot who happens to have money.

Maybe Katie does see what a big idiot Tom is after the last meeting with her family. Maybe she saw the light about the little creep. :loser: :loser: One can only hope.

Me thinks Mr. Big Shot Movie Star needs to check into his future in-laws before he "falls in love" again. Nicole's father is a psychiatrist and we know how he feels about that profession. Katie's father is an attorney and he seems to want to get married without the benefit of providing her with a prenup to make sure she doesn't get screwed like he tried to do to Kidman. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he discovers that the whole world isn't willing to bow down to him.

I think that if she saw the light, she wouldn't have left with him.

I can't think of anything nice to say so I'll do like I was raised and keep my mouth shut. LOL At least for right now. I'm starting to get hot under the collar hearing about how all these celebrities take relationships so cavalierly )sp?) If that's even a word.

From a few different articles on MSNBC:

Will Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have a prenup?

Sources say they will, and according to one report, that’s why Cruise and his preggers fiancée are taking so long to get hitched. Holmes’s father, Martin, is a lawyer and is representing his daughter in the negotiations, reports the upcoming issue of The Star.

Martin Holmes “is playing hardball with the prenup negotiations,” according to the tab, which quotes a source as saying that Holmes wants to make sure that his daughter will receive “a lump sum payment in the millions if the marriage should dissolve before the five-year mark.”

Such terms are unusual for a prenup, which usually awards a spouse more money for a longer marriage, but, the source tells the mag: “The Holmes family would never tell Katie if they thought her marriage was doomed from the get-go, but they are pressuring her to hold out not only to protect her interests, but those of her child.”

Holmes and Cruise’s rep didn’t return calls for comment, but noted divorce attorney Raoul Felder told The Scoop, “Given Tom’s history, if they don’t have a prenup, forget a lawyer, they need psychiatrists.”

*****

Tom Cruise’s future father-in-law apparently isn’t a happy camper.

Katie Holmes’s dad is said to be “very upset” because his unmarried daughter is pregnant with Cruise’s child. And, what’s more, the devoutly Catholic Martin Holmes reportedly is none-too-thrilled about his daughter’s involvement in her husband-to-be’s controversial religion, Scientology.

“[Martin Holmes] was very upset and got into a real spat with Katie,” the forthcoming issue of Life & Style Weekly quotes “a close friend” of Cruise as saying. “Tom had promised her parents that they would do the right thing and get married before any baby came along.” After scolding his daughter, according to the mag, Martin Holmes berated Cruise by declaring “You’re no good.”

“He said he and his wife were very upset by the news,” according to the source, “and demanded the pair get married quickly.”

Furthermore, a member of Christ the King Church, which the Holmes family belongs to, told L&S that Cruise and Holmes’ publicist, his sister Lee Anne DeVette, sent a letter to parishioners, asking them not to talk to reporters. Although a family friend told the mag that the Holmes family is thrilled by the news of a grandchild, they’re also concerned.

“It seemed like Katie was being controlled by Scientologists,” the friend told L&S. “Now they wonder if it’s a Rosemary’s Baby situation, where Katie is being groomed to provide Tom with a child.”

_____

Very sad. I hope Katie comes to her senses. Her poor parents must be SICK. I'm glad her dad is looking out for her - even if she doesn't want him to. Her judgment is clouded right now but hopefully that will fade and she'll come to thank her dad for watching out for her.

Actually, in the case of Tom Cruise, i can't count the ways in which i would like to see him suffer now you come to mention it . . . :boohoo:

i happen to think Holmes is an ignorant beyotch and isn't the 'innocent' image portrayed. i think she's made some sort of contract with Cruise (and i believe Nicole and Penelope did too) to up his 'hetro' image.

she deserves whatever bad she may get, altho the baby (should one really exist) clearly doesn't.

i've recently read a novel concerning baby suppliers where i learned it's perfectly fine to register somewhere one is having a baby and saying one is having a home birth and no need for 'official' medical treatment, thereby no 'officials' becoming involved to see if the registeree actually gave birth. then a surrogate steps in and the baby is given up to the registeree and to all intents and purposes it's her baby.

all it needs is a 'witnesses' to say she gave birth. with the scientologists i'm sure some concealed place with willing 'witnesses' could be cobbled together.

(apparently, this is not unknown. altho there is more to the tale in that the women supplying the babies are from foreign countries and the woman who registers the baby as hers then 'sells' the baby for adoption.)

as far as Kay-tee is concerned, she has appeared in public with questionable 'bump' sizes and . . . a pregnant woman going ice skating?

the whole thing absolutely reeks in my opinion.

Floh, your post doesn't make sense from a legal point of view. The child will need a birth certificate. In most cases, unless the parents are married, the woman cannot just add the name of the "father." IF there is any sort of litigation in the future, paternity will need to be established. I'm not sure if you're trying to say that Katie isn't even pregnant, but if you are trying to say that, all I can say is that I disagree wholeheartedly. They're apparently trying to negotiate the prenuptual agreement now. The baby will, of course, be mentioned in that agreement and terms for the child's future will be addressed.

I also disagree with you about "contracts" between Tom, Nicole and Penelope.

Good one!
Maybe he can change his name to Tom Snooze? :p

He has never appealed to me as I thought he always looked a bit unkempt and greasy when he wasn't being dressed and taken care of by the movie makeup artists. I don't mind a bit of the "unkempt" look but he, Pitt and many others take it to the extreme.

Now, Sean Connery, Andy Garcia, Pierce Brosnan......:blowkiss:  :truce:

I know a woman can't just add a father's name to the birth certificate.

i'm trying to say she might not be pregnant. i'm trying to say there is some contract which may be being further built upon.

i'm suggesting the public is being scammed.

i think anything to do with Cruise is iffy. :)

Good points, Floh. She appeared pregnant way too fast after being with another fiancee for five years. What? She breaks up with her fiancee and then in two months is pregnant with Tom's child? The whole thing was absurd from the beginning unless being "pregnant" was part of the contract with Tommers.

What was she thinking???

I have no inside knowledge, so you may be right. I just don't think she'd do this to her family for nothing, so I guess I'd vote that she's probably preggers.

Okay, how about this farfetched speculation? What if Tom has doubts that the baby is really his and that's why he won't marry Katie until he is sure? Maybe, he bought this sonogram machine to make sure that she really was pregnant and not any further along than she says that she is.

Maybe, he bought this sonogram machine to make sure that she really was pregnant and not any further along than she says that she is.

Or he bought the machine to fool us into thinking that he was so concerned about "his" child. This was so "over the top" that one has to wonder what all of it is about.

he probably told katies parents that they were being "glib" or something stupid like that and they threw his sorry butt out....
