What is in the air in Toronto?

I just got off the phone with my 85 year old father, who lives in Toronto. (He absolutely hates Rob Ford, and has disliked him since he was elected. He calls him a buffoon.) My father told me he had a doctor appointment today and he told his doctor he thinks he needs pot for his pain. (My father apparently suffers from fibromyalgia.) Now his doctor is fairly old, as far as actively practicing doctors go, and he told my father that he had never medically prescribed pot before. My father now has to fill in 8 pages of forms to see if he 'qualifies' for medically prescribed marijuana. He told my sister he needs her to come over this weekend to help him fill in the forms. :scared:

I am seriously going to split my gut laughing! Our family has never had anyone into drugs. (As long as you don't count the time, many, many, many years ago, that my older sister came home for Christmas break in her first year of university, and brought home her roommate's plants ("zinnias", aka marijuana) to take care of, since her roommate went home to Minnesota for the break. My father confirmed tonight, when I asked, that he and our mom actually thought it was zinnias that they were watering over the holidays!)

So now I have to deal with the probability that my father will be smoking bud. I hope it ends up being good quality BC bud! :floorlaugh:

You may want to check into the forms it's now quite easy for the doctor to just write a prescription, the program is being revamped and as of June or July no longer have to deal with health canada

I wonder how much he's loving his "fame" now? He can't just be "one of the regular guys" anymore. He can't just show up at a sporting event and plan on sitting wherever he chooses without causing a security issue. Although it appears that he's going to continue to try because he just doesn't care. And it's no surprise that he would have opted to take a better seat than the one he probably had but how the usher didn't go right up and kick him out the moment the ticket holder showed up is beyond me. Good thing he wasn't in MY seat. LOL

This is at least the third time Coun. Ford has accused someone of "stalking" his mother. He levelled the charge at the Star after a reporter approached his mother when working on a profile during the 2010 election and raised it again in May, while defending his brother the existence of the now infamous crack cocaine was first reported.

The Fords also have a history of calling the police on people they allege to be infringing on their privacy.

Last spring, Star reporter Daniel Dale was on the public property behind Mayor Ford's home to research a story when the chief magistrate charged him with his fist cocked, later inaccurately alleging Dale was peering over his backyard fence and photographing his family.

Police said there was "no evidence" for a charge against Dale.
