The only way is up! Crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford just can't help himself as he opens a children's playground with his brother

Well isn't that special. Romping around in parks that he has a history of voting against funding for and then taking credit for.

On Saturday, Ford cut the ribbon at a new amphitheatre and park in North York’s Jane-Sheppard neighbourhood. In 2012, though, he was the only member of council to vote against a proposal to let the city use $140,000 in private money to build the park. The proposal passed 34-1.

Local resident and advocate Talisha Ramsaroop, 21, said Ford told her and two other young people at the ceremony that he has done more for low-income communities than any other mayor — and that he “started” the park project.

“Those were his exact words: ‘I started this,’ ” Ramsaroop said.

In fact, the park, Reading Sprouts Garden, was a painstaking multi-year initiative of local councillor Maria Augimeri (see Maria Augimeri’s policard). Ramsaroop said she was “really upset” when she was informed later of Ford’s opposing vote.

“To be quite honest, I didn’t know that politicians were allowed to lie to your face,” Ramsaroop said. “Like, I know this sounds really optimistic, but I was completely unaware that politicians were allowed to lie to the face of the people.”

NEW!

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toron...leave-office-or-city-hall-will-blow-1.2733432

"Rob Ford says he received a bomb threat: 'Leave office or city hall will blow'"

"Mayor Rob Ford says he and his councillor brother, Doug, have received an email threatening to blow up city hall if the two don't resign.

The mayor said the email warned that the Fords have "24 hours to vacate" otherwise "City hall will blow." Ford said the email indicated explosives had already been set up around the building. Doug Ford, who represents Etobicoke North, is the mayor's campaign manager.

Ford said the email is "disturbing" and he has notified the police. He said police will be investigating the threat"

"TORONTO — Police Chief Bill Blair is suing Coun. Doug Ford for defamation.

Mayor Rob Ford’s brother was served with legal notice Monday night. The move comes just over a week after Blair threatened legal action because of the councillor’s comments.

Police spokesman Mark Pugash said the chief is footing the bill for the lawsuit."

Things are looking up Toronto. No link, but just heard on CTV that polls show John Tory in the lead with 42%, Ford with 28%, and Olivia Chow with 26%.

Well, nobody's perfect, eh ??

http://www.thestar.com/news/city_ha...rob_ford_meeting_mike_tyson_at_city_hall.html

Tyson, who has been convicted of rape and other crimes, met with Ford for more than 40minutes in the mayor’s city hall office on Tuesday afternoon. When they emerged, Tyson offered a full-throated defence of a man he called “the best mayor in Toronto’s history.”

Ford returned the favour — praising, defending and likening himself to an eccentric fighter with a face tattoo who famously bit off part of an opponent’s ear.

“We’re cut from the same cloth,” Ford said. “There’s no nonsense. I respect him.”

ROFO might have been better off to align hisself with the Dalai Lama or Terry Fox or Mother Theresa or ________ (insert just about anyone other than MT).

Olivia Chow and John Tory might just be seen sporting Teflon coated or Kevlar earmuffs over the next while. :floorlaugh:

Boy, the media asks a lot of dumb questions.
The question, what is the prognosis was asked multiple times even though the doc had already said several times that they didn't know what kind of tumour it was and would have to do more tests.

Doug seems pretty shaken up.

"Prior hospitalizations

Ford has had several prior stints in hospital since becoming a public official.

Published reports said Ford was hospitalized in 2009 for a tumour on his appendix, leading to its removal along with part of his colon which was also infected, and also that he was treated for kidney stones in 2011.

In 2012, he received treatment for a throat problem that aggravated his asthma. The previous year, Ford went to hospital after suffering symptoms of kidney stones.

In July, he visited a hospital for what was described as a toe injury. He was expected to be having surgery for that at a later date".
