Toronto mayor admits crack use

Rob Ford: Judge orders release of more documents

Portions of wiretap information to be released Wednesday afternoon

The documents include some 20 pages of secretly recorded phone conversations that prior to Wednesday's ruling have remained off limits to the public, even as other details of the police investigation have been revealed in recent weeks.

Lisi, also known as Sandro or Alessandro, is facing charges of extortion and drug trafficking.

Lisi and Ford were photographed by police earlier this year making exchanges.

"The question is, what was in those packages?" said Iain MacKinnon, the lawyer representing CBC in court Wednesday.

The mayor has refused to say, and has turned away investigators seeking to question him.

It also appears that David Price, long time friend of the Fords and mentioned in the ITO as someone who was brought on at double the regular salary, no longer works for the city. There was no place for him in either office, the mayor's or the deputy mayor's.

No surprise there.

Mayor Rob Ford picks Dan Jacobs as chief of staff — with 5 months’ experience

Jacobs, the mayor’s fifth chief of staff in three years, was originally hired June 2013 to serve a junior role after six of the mayor’s staff left in a mass exodus in the wake of the crack video scandal. His resume at the time included working as a producer for Newstalk 1010 and as a manager at a company that manufactures bedbug spray, according to his LinkedIn profile.

His time in the mayor’s office, where he has held four separate jobs in just five months, constitutes his known political career.

Something tells me this is going to be a bad career move for this guy.

Pretty funny read...

Rob Ford's staff splits, but he's revelling in celebrity: DiManno

What possible benefit there can be to Mayor Lite making his direct-to-the-public case for American audiences has not been explained, though it undoubtedly boosts the man’s narcissism, elevated to the naughty celebrity stratosphere of Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

This is Rob Ford’s version of twerking.

“I have not touched a drop of alcohol in three weeks,” he declared in several interviews.

And why wouldn’t we believe him? Oh, right, that’s why.

Jon Stewart can't get enough of this...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3gpSJRhO-o"]Must watch so funny Nov 19 Jon Stewart latest video on Rob Ford - YouTube[/ame]

I'm split, I'm sure it's the right thing for everyone if he just leaves, but hell this stuff is funny! For the sake of entertainment he should definitely stay and run for office again!

One rumour shot down, one confirmed.

Apparently Ford's cell phone was lost just before Mark Towhey was fired, several months after Anthony Smith was murdered.
And it's true that the wiretaps installed for Project Traveller picked up chatter about the crack video. Not sure why the press is making a big deal about this, it was reported I think in July(?) that police knew about the video even before Gawker and The Star.

Thing is he's pretty much got the best of both worlds right now. He gets to be the "mayor" without any of the work and only the perks. They left him with the only thing he shouldn't be doing and that's representing the city at functions and fun events.

So even though he spent most of his time "campaigning" (calling and visiting people personally instead of delegating it to staff) to hold the job and doesn't appear to have a clue about policies or anything else affecting the city, they've effectively just made the job tailored to exactly how he probably wanted it in the first place.

He gets to hang with his Ford Nation peeps and be a celebrity without any of the work that is required to hold the office.

From the 97 Allegations against Rob Ford:

Misuse of taxpayers money. Paraphrasing: Price used 15 Windsor Road, a known "trap-house or crack-house" as an ad-hoc office to make phone calls for the 2005 campaign, according to David Price.

So the crack house has been part of the picture since 2005??? And Ford may have been paying the utilities there (according to rumour).

More about 15 Windsor:

The house is home to one of Ford’s friends, Fabio Basso, and his sister, Elena Johnson. The house is owned by their mother, Lina.
Johnson was convicted in 2011 of trafficking cocaine. Neighbours have told the Star that the house is known for drugs.
Ford was photographed outside 15 Windsor Rd. with three men — Anthony Smith, Monir Kassim and Muhammad Khattak.

And strangely...

Police obtained a warrant to search 15 Windsor, but it appears never to have been executed.

Why not?

The new info is highlighted in pink. The mayor seems to have lost his phone on April 20th, maybe in South Etobicoke.

But those highlighted sections are saying that Towhey understood the phone to have gone missing "just prior to his firing", which happened Thursday May 23.
Further in the highlighted sections, Fidani and Prempeh both had not heard anything about the phone going missing while they were all working the park clean-up on April 20.

It seems the document is implying the phone went missing after April 20 (because two of his aides would have heard about it) and before Towhey was fired May 23.

Toronto is an incredible city, this is beyond bizarre.

BTW, I thought crack heads were skinny? Was this guy eating twinkies between hits?

Sorry, I can't resist.

About the cell phone, I read somewhere that Ford did lose his phone on April 20th at some event (or he claims he did). I'll try and find the link. I did find this interesting:

Phone records also reveal that several members of Ford’s city hall staff had contact with Lisi a total of 139 times during the police investigation.
Topping that list was Tom Beyer, Ford’s executive assistant, who had 73 phone contacts — calls or text messages — with Lisi between April 20 and Sept. 19, according to the search warrant documents. Beyer was also observed by police meeting Lisi on June 15 in the parking lot of the Metro grocery store on Royal York Rd., just north of Trehorne Dr. The two were seen getting into Beyer’s car, which drove a short distance to Lisi’s vehicle.

Why is one of his staffers communicating with Lisi? And starting APRIL 20th??? Pretty fishy.

Rob Ford's new chief of staff says the Toronto mayor will not be giving any more media interviews.

We'll see how long that lasts.
