I definitely think it would be interesting to know how a 27 year old woman got pushed over the edge like this. It is fascinating. How could we ever hope to thwart this type of behavior if we do not understand it? How can we educate potential victims? I would love to see an intelligent discussion regarding these things somewhere.

This money has already been put aside. They do not try death penalty cases that often........only when its warranted.

Even if it is set aside, there is no more purpose to this trial. It's like calling the game when the other team is so far ahead it is preposterous.

I think mot of us are sick of the ugliness of it all. Is there any reason earth that anyone needs to hear what is sure to come?

I agree with others that LWOP will cause her to drop off of the radar screen. With DP there will be all of the appeals, etc.

I really wish there could be an offer.

She over-killed the deceased. Imagine hitting him with a knife that many times, she had to have hit bone on the back of his head. Did she stop, no, she drove on brutally.

Once she started the killing process, she was intent on completing her "mission". As long as TA was moving, he wasn't dead yet, so her state of mind was to make him stop moving and therefore dead.

If she was simply fending off an attack, she would be trying to get away from him whether he was wounded or not, and seeking help (from neighbors or calling 9-1-1).

She obviously had every intention of leaving him dead, and nothing short of that would suffice.

It'd be AWESOME if Deanna comes forward and says she doesn't even have a gmail or youtube account and then upon further investigation we find that account was created on June 4 at 3:50am and then go after JA for falsifying information, ID theft, etc., etc. I'm sure that is far fetched but then again she's done so many other crazy things i almost find it justifiable to have the kinds of crazy thoughts!!

I feel very confident that when it's JM's turn up there he will get to the bottom of this and clear everything up! I also think bc the majority of the panel are men they couldn't give a bigger flip about what's on his computer and have probably already tuned it out. Their questions get better and better with every witness so let's stay positive that they are on the same page as we are ;)

Jodi trying to frame Deanna?

ETA: that wouldn't matter since Jodi said she did it!

PS ... folks somewhere aren't fessing up. A person does not become such a staunch liar .. over nite.

I'd sure like to hear the real story from her mother.

I don't think we'll get it from her. This is the lady who is trying to sell forged letters to the National Inquirer.

I'm not sure we will hear it from Mom. She seems to be a staunch supporter. In many cases followed often it is after an arrest or conviction that people feel comfortable in coming forward. IMO

To be honest, I am not sure if she is histrionic and she could be sociopath but I do not think so. I do know that many of the same traits for sociopath come up in histrionic.

I would love to see what a psychologist has found.
Some things just do not add up for me in regards to sociopath for me.
Things like calling her a pathological liar. If you aren't going to confess or take responsibility for something like this of course you are going to lie your face off.
However, she doesn't have an extensive history of lieing. People have come forward with all kinds of things about her being obsessive but nothing about lieing.

Inappropriate sexual behavior is often mentioned by his friends. Even this is hard to read because what a Mormon versus the average 20 something sees as innappropriate can be different.

Rapidly shifting emotional states- this is another reason many see her as a sociopath but its also a trait of histrionic. We see a lot of this during her interviews.

Easily influenced by people- shifting religions so quickly, blinding putting so much faith in prepaid legal

one of the big ones that really makes me think its this instead of sociopath is
" belief that relationships are more intimate than they are"
even if Travis told her over and over they wouldnt be together she saw it differently and because he did not know how to deal with it or he was horny or whatever reason he kept sleeping with her

It was more than lying your face off. She was facing a murder charge and being interrogated by a police detective, she never cracked once. In fact, before being taken in.. she called the detective. I repeat how many of us could do that?

I feel confident in my assessment that she's cray cray
Crazy ? Hardly ... won't be the last time a woman kills a man (or vice versa) in a jealous rage because "if she can't have him, no one will" ... most people know how to deal with breakups and no-win situations, a few people commit or try to commit suicide after a breakup (I'm reminded of that recent case in Montana where the girl crossed the center line and hit a family head-on after a breakup), and there's a few who kill as an act of vengeance against the person who dumped them.

I would certainly love to have more info on Jodi's upbringing to see if she was indeed violent ( heard the baseball bat story ) - I also find it really hard to believe she had never fired a gun before shooting Travis. Why did she drop out of high school ? Apparently, she was a good student ... What is/was her relationship with her father and why has he not been at the trial ?

IIRC, JA stated that JA and TA were night people - wonder what time TA typically woke up in the morning?

Seems JA’s plan was to do the deed that morning and then meet up with Ryan mid-day (?).
I wonder what delayed JA’s kill plan until 5:30pm (?) that day?
Ryan did say JA arrived ~24 hours after he had expected her.

After the murder, JA must have been freaked out walking from TA’s house to her rental car in broad daylight, early evening, and when many may have been returning home from work?? It’s a shame no one saw JA, said hello to her, clued in someone that she was there and thus possibly finding TA sooner.

I bet the enabling probably started with mom, of course, I am just guessing.

With all of JA's "art" being sold on ebay I just had a thought. I am wondering if Daddy O's Diner in Yreka is now doing a booming business since the trial started?!! I am sure there are alot of curiosity seekers stopping there since it is run by JA's family. Also, wonder if media has been there trying to get a "scoop".

Do you think OJ Simpson is a sociopath?

I don't think that lying your face off when you could very well be charged with murder and get the death penalty is all that abnormal. I'm not sure how anyone could say how they'd react until they're in that position.

...

If you were to go by this, you can make anyone into a socio/psychopath. There is a reason why the DSM-IV-TR has a huge disclaimer in it saying that it's only a guideline and those with proper clinical experience and training are the only ones that can make any sort of credible assertion based on these guidelines.

It is very easy to let cognitive biases take over and come up with "diagnoses" of sociopathy. But there's a lot more to it than reading about symptoms and playing match-up with them.

Snipped for length. I concur!

The more colloquial use of 'cray cray'

"Referring to someone as "Cray Cray", signifies their craziness to a whole other level. The ultimate second power of crazy."

I think JA was more driven by money; sex was just a tool and well-honed skill to get the lifestyle she lusted for.

She dropped her ex, Darryl, like a hot potato when there wasn't enough money around anymore. Seems like she calculated and did everything she could to climb the social ladder within the PPL organization, where money floated freely. She did "whatever" in the car with one of those guys, the one who knew her for two hours and said he wanted to leave his wife for JA.

She even converted to Mormonism in a flash, hoping to position herself as wife material for the many well-off guys withing PPL...IMO, these things were more about instant status-seeking, and trying to land a man who could give her the high-life for free.

Another thing I wonder... Did dabbling with this new religion drive her crazy? I can see how a strict, new religion might do this -- particularly if you discover you've been living horribly, in sin. Really, all that "whoredom" ranting she anonymously emailed to Lisa described Jodi herself.

I'm not offering religion as an excuse for what JA did, but seeking a possible explanation for her crack-up.

Without Travis, Jodi was a twenty eight year woman living with her grandparents and seems like no one else in sight until RB. Where was Jodi living when she met DB?

I'm also really curious about the family especially her father. I don't believe for one second that her childhood was "ideal" as she described it to be. JMO but I don't get the impression she has a close relationship with the parents, if we look at her old blogs, journals, pictures, etc.
