I tend to think that the prosecutor has a very clear picture of what Jodi Arias really is but he doesn't have to do anything other than prove she did it, it was premeditated, it was heinous and deserves the death penalty.
That's true and he does not have an expert to testify as to her mental status so he can't label her as sociopathic or anything. But he can describe her as a user, a stalker and a murderer, in closing.
I am sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I guess I am one of few who does not feel that she a sociopath out to kill up and coming Mormons. I think very specific circumstances led to what happened. Plenty of men have bed buddies that have feelings for them but they don't happen to have been Histrionic Personalities that do not deal with rejection well.
I am prepared for the fall out but IMO she could have lived her whole life never killing anyone if she hadn't found herself in such an odd situation. Never the less she is guilty and her actions were neither self defense nor anywhere near justified.
I don;t think anyone has called jodi a serial killer or someone who was out to kill Mormon guys. That's kind of a real exaggeration and distortion of what people have been discussing, IMO. Instead, some of us are saying that she preyed on Travis and when he wouldn't have her (and then couldn't have her because he was dead), she kept her eyes on other Mormon guys. Not in order to murder them but so she could get a guy who made money, had a certain look and who she could easily seduce due to her coercive use of sex and due to their relative inexperience and conflicted feelings about sex.
With much respect, (because you're seem like a doll!) I do think it's naive to believe that a person capable of planning out and then executing such a horrific, brutal murder, and then lying about it, showing little emotion, trying to seduce another guy the very next day, etc., is just some gal who found herself in a specific situation and who wouldn't have been a murder but for the type of relationship she was in or the type of guy she was with. Anyone capable of doing what she did in the manner that she did is capable of murder, was capable of murder and always will be. She is a frightening danger.
I mean, how is her behavior after the fact explained if she isn't remorseless, dangerous and evil? It's akin to saying casey anthony partied and danced on tables for a month after her daughter was killed, as a means of coping and grieving (which is what her defense did say).
IMO, anyone capable of what she did is not capable of that because of the specific situation, They are capable of that because of a serious defect in their soul and a ruthless quest for possession and a pathological sense of entitlement.
I understand why you could see it that way but honestly most of what we know is from the media who are trying to paint her in the most evil light they can and from his friends who are absolutely going to paint a picture of what they see in hindsight, with inclusion of the fact that she murdered him.
Many of these traits cannot be determined unless you actually meet someone. This goes for personality disorders as well.
Things like incapacity for love, could be dis-proven by her previous relationships. Early behavior problems are not in the mix. Dropping out of school is not being a delinquent.
I will give you that many of these things fit if you want them to.
Diagnosing anything off of the internet and never having met the person is not realistic.
Histrionic personality disorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
this also fits her just as well from what we know and from the traits that are listed as a sociopath.
You could be right that she has some other disorder or perhaps it's a combination. But hon, I don't need the media to filter how I perceive jodi. She speaks for herself and like casey anthony and scott peterson, she spoke a lot.
Again, I am basing my opinion on personal experience with sociopaths and from what I have studied, as well as observing her behavior and looking at the murder itself.
I am a libber. I want to have the same rights as a man does. Along with this demand comes the knowledge that I can't demand the benefits but fall back on being a 'victim' if it suits my situation. I am an adult and if I enter a relationship that the other person has told me repeatedly is over and I continue to offer sex then I must face it that I am accepting those terms. I can't cry, get hurt, feel used or blame the man because I decide I can't handle it. I shouldn't be able to have my cake and eat it too. My demand for equality should also include my accepting responsibility for myself and my reactions.
'Odd situations' be damned JMO
Bravo, baby. And ditto to all.
Katiecoolady said the trial for her sister cost $10,000,000.
I think it is time for JA's trial to be over. The ridiculous waste of money is obscene when people need things for life. Things like schools, roads, etc.
The US has more people in prison than any place on earth. That is percentage wise
We are spending money in crisis management where nothing is left over to provide for people to have decent lives.
Can't JA be offered LWOP and this can come to an end? It is ludicrous. But maybe it is not so obvious to others out in the public?
Death penalty costs a ton of money and Katiecoolady has given plenty of reasons why it is a poor plan.
You are right but I don;t think jodi is willing to accept LWOP. She thinks no jury in the world will convict her. She thinks she's going free.
Happy Birthday!!
:bdsong:
Thanks! I spent half the day in the chair. Pain!!! And it is not over!!
I really do not see this as what most people do.
I have known many women who sought the attention of men when they were upset or distraught. Especially women who have learned that sex can make men
more pliant. If Jodi has been indirectly taught in her life that all she is good for is sex then she may use sex as a bargaining chip to get what she needs. If what she needs is someone to hold her then she may have been getting sex out of the way to get what she needed.
Manipulation, yes. Proof she has no emotion, not really.
You could be right about how she learned what she did. BTW, I disagree that sociopaths or psychopaths have no emotion. They have plenty but it's distorted and mostly for themselves. What they lack is not emotion but empathy and the ability to feel love, which you need empathy to do.
