The objection is kind of hilarious, almost straight out of the movie Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey:

Fletcher: Your honor, I object!
Judge: Why?
Fletcher: Because it's devastating to my case!
Judge: Overruled.

OH FGS!

Duh you bet your bippy this should have been raised in the Motion in Limine during pretrial.

Judge: That ship has sailed.

Uh yes ma'am it has. Let's hope she keeps that in mind when she is ruling on this BS when lunch break is done

My feeling on this is that she has basically already "ruled" on it. Juan gets to interview the "Paid for and Hired" expert witness. What good that does anyone, especially Juan, is beyond me if they let in the powerpoint presentation.

Well the judge failed that test. Time magazine articles? Sneaking in premeditation? Last minute surprises and the prosecution is the one that gets penalized by having to read, listen and figure out how to cross this guy in what..two hours?

ITA!

But I have faith in Juan...he will be able to pull this off....and he will be ready to fire when it's his turn....don't worry.

Dr Samuals attempting to argue things he has been precluded from arguing by the judge in the past. Points of law he has no expertise in. I guess if Juan objects in open court the jury still sees it.

I'm just not very impressed with this judge, at all!
Unbelievable!

'Time' magazine slid downhill long ago, same as 'Newsweek'. Heck, 'People' magazine is nothing but a paid PR rag now. Back in the day, these magazines used to be something. jmho.

Of that I have no doubt.

I think Judge Stephens is mainly a Family Court Judge although her bio states this also: (it does indicate her most notable case is the Jodi Arias case)

----------------------
Stephens is a Superior Court judge for Maricopa County. She previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Arizona Attorney General's Office Organized Crime and Fraud Section

Maybe he could just bring in a SOD magazine and use Niki/Viki story as reference.Would be about as relevant as a Time mag article.

This judge never had control of this courtroom. She is very weak and overly cautious, to the point that it's detrimental to the state. She has to seek balance and she's bending over for the defense. I know why she's doing it, but I think it's weak and spineless.

And before anyone says they've never seen such a weak judge, may I turn your attention to Judge Lance Ito, OJ Simpson trial debacle, circa 1995. Weak doesn't even begin to cover it.

And also Judge Belvin Perry. Blowhard bluffer. I was never impressed with him, not from day 1.

I like my judges lean, mean, on point, punctual (and a little sarcastic, but that's just me).

I couldn't cite Time magazine articles for my classes even in undergrad! The defense wants to use them for a death penalty case??

I'm off to eat some comfort food and watch Seinfeld. See you guys at 1 p.m. Arizona time.

OK...wait.

It sounded to me like she was sort of reprimanding JM due to the fact it should have been brought up in motion at previous time.

I mean, how could he when he just got the powerpoint and what the guy was gonna say?

I hope someone can explain that because to me it sounded like she wasnt happy with JM either but not sure why.

I guess Juan was supposed to throw together a motion and get it typed and served on all parties in the 5 minutes he had before court.

So allowing Juan time to interview this witness means no hand slapping for the defense team. They are in clear violation of the due process and she does nothing - she enables them to be sneaky and underhanded. It's disgusting, this judge is horrendous. I'm thoroughly and totally sickened by the way she performs her job.

Wilmott defined Psychology WRONG too!!!

It is amazing that during the time I have watched this trial the Judge has NOT ONCE made any comments about inconveniencing the Jury. She seems oblivious about their time. Not too impressed. In other trials you hear Judges reprimand Counsel over last minute delays and how that it not fair to the Jury. She does not seem to care. JMHO

I'm thinking the jury has probably formed a book club by now

The judge wasn't upset at Juan, she was clearly shaking her head at Wilmott.

And even if it is allowed in, I have faith in Juan. This jury isn't stupid, they know that the defense will bring in some sucker to try to defend jodi's actions, before and after the murder. They know how this works. They won't be swayed by a bunch of physco-babble.
