At a million dollars, to put someone to death, clean of conscience, sure and secure in the knowledge that the accused had every opportunity to prove innocence and was still adjudicated guilty, it's a bargain.

That's a million just to get her to prison, not to put her to death, tack on a few more million for that.

Samuels did look at the jurors when answering questions when Wilmont started the questioning. He looked with each answer he was giving.
He stopped looking when Juan questioned him. Samuels was to busy fumbling for answers...thumbing through his non dated notes and arguing with Juan. IMO at this point Samuels was to embarrassed:blushing: to face the jury with his fabrications. When Wilmont got to question him on redirect he was not engaging with the jury much at all..just trying to pick up the pieces of his reputation.:twocents:

Samuels also said Jodi was not assertive. Assertiveness is a behavior pattern. Wouldn't constantly making trips from California to Mesa be a form of asserting herself. She did not have to go, ever. And wouldn't such a long trip through the desert on more than one occasion during her road trip show that she had no fear and be a sign she was assertive in her behavior. Meek women usually do not sleep in cars or stop in deserted spots in the desert. Wouldn't we also describe Jodi running up to Crater Lake to confront MM's girlfriend as being assertive????? He certainly did not do any background work on her, just took her word. And just the mere "rolling of her eyes" shows she is quite capable of asserting herself. She did not like that remark from the doctor that she could not assert herself. Also, moving out of her home to live with a bf is a sign she could assert herself when she wanted something. lol

I don't care how much money it takes. They put aside funds for death penalty cases should one come along.

It is more about giving the correct punishment than it is about the money imo.

1:20 EST - Establishing shots, spectators, camera neck rolls

1:25 EST - Actual talking. Court reporter profile shots.

1:26 EST - Pre-evidenciary approach and sidebar

1:28 EST - Pre-emptive defense objections decided by best of three "rock-paper-scissors"

1:30 EST - Jury dismissed. Prosecutor, Defense and Judge retire to chambers for ruling on the admissibility of "rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock"

1:45 EST - Jury returns

1:46 EST - Jury asked to leave again

1:47 EST - Jury back

1:50 EST - Defense objects "because they can"

1:55 EST - First genuine approach and sidebar ends

1:56 EST - Talking blobfish on witness stand

This is how I feel too. She was assertive enough to tell DB no more sex she was saving herself for marriage, moved into another bedroom and so on. She was assertive enough to move to AZ AFTER the breakup. She sounds like she has had quite a few jobs. She must have enough self esteem to think she can get a job anytime she wants to. Interviews are not easy afterall if you have a low self esteem. Job interviews are where you sell yourself to the potential employer. Even in waitressing jobs.

I guess I just don't know what the definition of assertive is.
