I've noticed some youtube clips maintain a split screen with whoever is on the stand and one fixated on JA. Is there a particular stream that shows this? The few I've used only show the one image.

TIA

Of course I don't care about her looks/sexual preferences/etc. but I'm unable to respect or like anyone who is willing to testify for the Defense in this case.

There is overwhelming evidence that Arias is guilty of first-degree murder and no evidence of Travis having been an abuser.

Hopefully this expert won't be as bad as Samuels but color me biased in any case.

I agree in principal however; I want Ms Arias to be properly represented even if I totally dislike or disagree with that representation. I want zero excuses for her future appeals and JMO to avoid this issue would likely help assure an appeal on grounds. So while I do not like the idea of either Dr. Samuels or Ms. LaViolette as, I firmly believe that anyone who thinks they decide what is normal and what is not in someone else's brain is basically off their own rocker, in todays little PC world, criminals have more rights than ever. I just want them to have their say so no appeal judge can rule she was not properly represented. This woman deserves death, if not death, nothing less then LWOP - I want it to stick and am willing to tolerate this lunacy to see that happen.

I do believe that the gun shot was last. I just happen to believe that she had the gun close to her from start to finish.

I find the forensic reports very confusing in this case. Not even sure if I can build an entire theory around my idea but 2 things stick out for me....

The trajectory of the bullet makes perfect sense if TA was sitting in the shower and leaned forward the way you do when getting up.

The gun may have jammed. It did in the 48 HRS story and that might be the drop of truth that she includes in her lies.

I didn't watch Willmott's opening statement and can't find a transcript, so please correct me if the quote I saw from it is wrong. It read as if JW pointed to a pic of Jodi wearing the "Travis Alexander's" t-shirt/"Travis" panties and promised the jury an expert would explain how those are indicative of TA's controlling, abusive treatment of her.

I didn't hear Samuels mention that, so it must be Ms. LaV's task. If so, and Juan can prove the "Travis Alexander's" t-shirt said, "Being Better Blog" on the back, I'll be ecstatic. The DT couldn't possibly be that stupid, but I can hope.

I really don't think she was lying... What makes you say that? It takes me time to think of examples of general things as well. I think the story was diluted to suit her needs (I.e. love love loving animals, changed her perspective on animal treatment, the dog "didn't even yelp because I barely kicked him yet I never saw him again and need to apologize to him") when telling Flores about it. I think it was probably worse than what she described.

for all we know, her parents got rid of the dog because they were afraid she'd kill it.

I think you agree with the person you quoted... :)

Dr. R. Samuels also stated that JA developed an "alternate reality" (now there's an oximoron for you) to suppress the trauma of the event. My question to the good doctor would be why would she create an alternative reality to suppress something she has no memory of?

Really, I guess lying and deception and covering up a murder are a form of 'alternate reality' :what:. And maybe it was my imagination, but it seemed that with each time he repeated that excuse he sounded weaker and weaker.

Brought over from previous thread:

In my college statistics class my professor said that statistics were like bikinis, what they hide is more interesting than what they show!

When what happens to you or your family is statistically improbable, the numbers become much less important.

well here is a link to the you tube of the card......hope this works....about the 5:30 mark I think
Jodi Arias Murder Trial Day 32. Attorneys argue about card sent by Dr. Samuels to Jodi - YouTube
:maddening:
That's it!!!!! This is (IMHO) the WORST call of the day. JM has evidence that Dr. S. crossed over the line as a professional forensic evaluator, and basically the judge asks him if he did, then rules contrary to the evidence right in front of her.

This so reminds me of when the PO says to the perp, "You've been good this month, right?" And the perp (higher than a kite) answers, "Yeah." Then the PO sends them on their merry way confident that no violations whatsoever could have possibly happened.

Since Samuels testified that Jodi said she had difficulty relaxing......can Martinez bring in the head stand video? The jury hasn't seen that, have they?

In the Wendi Adriano case according to the Supreme Court " We held in State v. Celaya that “where the sole defense is self-defense so that the evidence requires either conviction or acquittal, any instruction on any other grade would be impermissible.”  135 Ariz. 248, 255, 660 P.2d 849, 856 (1983);  see also State v. Wall, 212 Ariz. 1, 6, ¶ 29, 126 P.3d 148, 153 (2006) (noting that when defendant asserts an “all-or-nothing” defense, the record usually will not support the giving of a lesser-included offense instruction);  State v. Jones, 109 Ariz. 80, 81-82, 505 P.2d 251, 252-53 (1973) (holding that lesser-included offense instructions were not required where evidence at trial and defendant's self-defense theory presented an “either-or” situation requiring either first degree murder conviction or acquittal).   We conclude that the evidence in this case did not support either a second degree murder or manslaughter instruction and that the trial court therefore did not commit fundamental error in failing to give either instruction."

Except JA testified that she shot Travis first and the gun went off by accident and she wasn't even sure it was loaded. I think she will at least have an argument for manslaughter to be included. If it will be...well I hope not.

There is only one feed, it's a pool camera feed from InSession.

On a few occasions they have shown a split screen but most of the time they do not.

I don't get it, I wish I could help. I would just love for you to love Juan. Hey, sounds kind of like a song doesn't it, :giggle: . Ahemm... not to get too psychoanalytical, but is it possible you had negative experiences with someone in your past that JM is reminding you of ? Just a thought. :dunno:

My boyfriend thinks he is terrible. On occasion, I agree that he loses the forest through the trees and belabors points to exhaustion that don't seem relevant. Antagonistic is a style that sometimes rubs people the wrong way. That said, I think he cares about his job and likely takes the responsibility very seriously. He's dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's. Can't fault him for that. I do think he should save the big drama and voice-raising for maximum impact as needed. YKWIM?

Hi all - I stumbled on the JA trial after watching 48 hours locally (in Australia). It really piqued my interest and so I looked it up and realised that the case was ongoing…. As it turns out, the case is.. 'THE CASE', and I got hooked pretty quickly, and so I looked around on the web to see what was out there in terms of coverage. I found wildabouttrial which gave me a direct hook up to what was going on which was great - but then I searched around to see what communities were out there that would have a bash at dissecting the trial. I hoped for skeptical eyes and 'unlit' torches, and well, websleuths fit the bill. So Iv've been lurking I guess for a couple of weeks, and I like your style.

So here I am.

I have to say, I am continually thrown by my readings of Ms Arias.
In terms of my perceptions of her, I admittedly fluctuate, between believing she is wholly the premeditated-conniving murderer, as close to evil as an atheist (that's me) can conceive of evil, and yet, I find myself somehow (at least in part) believing the odd tidbit that supports her claims. All the while with full recognition of how accomplished she is as a liar.

I know a few of you have hinted at this exact same thing - she mixes in truths to support her lies. Undoubtedly she does. To what extent, I don't know for sure.

What I would say, is that there can be no black and white result to this question of what actually went on. Unless by some freakish stroke of clear thinking and desire of repentance from Jodi, it is unlikely we will ever get the clear picture we are all looking for with regards the lead up / actual event / post event circumstances.

Actually, it just dawned on me, if Jodi is in any way legitimately devout to the Mormon faith, then maybe that will be the only channel through which we find answers. For instance, if she is given life without parole, then after some religious counselling, she may eventually 'fess up. But of course, we may also be 15 years older by that stage.

When i recall the the Flores interviews and also the 48 hours blerrr-dee-blahh-fests, I easily revert to a 'Jodi Arias is a liar, and an evil one at that' mindset - but there is something about her innate ability to meld some elements of truth to bolster her fabrications that makes me - at least to some degree - want to know more. It keeps me clinging to a certain extent.
(And that's not to say I am under her spell. I do not, and have not ever found her attractive, actually. Personally, my interest is more about her innate confidence [ha ha self esteem eh?] ) But aside from from this I am concerned with her ability to switch between these two worlds… How does someone do that as seamlessly as it seems to occur for her? wtf…..

I've got a bunch to say about the trial, and a few thoughts on Jodi and the way she carries herself, but I thought I would leave just this one observation, and expand with later posts:

I know a lot of you have commented on her appearance, and how she has aged since her initial TV appearances. For sure, she has - most definitely. But the thing that sticks out for me, is her voice. She speaks differently now.

It is absolutely unnerving to me to hear her voice in those 48 hours interviews. It seems completely affected. ‪It sounds saccharin‬ sweet - and it sounds softer - the 'esses' are accentuated. Her voice seems higher pitched. It's crisper. And it sounds like she's portraying a diminutive character that of course, would be incapable of such a heinous crime.

5 years later, which voice do you believe?

The gun may have jammed. It did in the 48 HRS story and that might be the drop of truth that she includes in her lies.

I have always wondered this. If the gun jammed in the beginning (I too believe everything is sprinkled with bits of truth) and she had to stab in the heart to disable him while she messed with the gun. I have heard the gun is hard to prepare for shooting. He gets out of the shower towards the sink as there is blood spatter there...somehow he got away and it wasn't from lunging at her whether it was the gun/knife scenario, he was bleeding badly and probably in shock, regardless he fell to his knees and she shot him, he was still moving and which time the cut throat. Then drags him back to the shower. So essientally, in her mind the gun did come first.

Probably some critical piece of thinking missing there, like how far the gun had to be from where the casing fell shows where the gun was located when shot. It probably can be disproved by someone more technically oriented in that area.

The woman in the courtroom with the DT in the heels and low cut shirts is Maria De LaRosa a Capital Mitigation Specialist. She is not a paralegal. I know this for 100% fact and double checked it today just to be 101% sure.

I brought this over from the trial observers thread...still not sure if the proper place to post this is here or there but this seemed more appropriate. I saw a question someone posted yesterday about the mitigation specialist and it prompted me to head over to google. I found this link http://www.maricopa.gov/OPDS/Assets...tracts/Service_Provider_Contracts/11075-c.pdf
It's the most recent contract revision between Maricopa County and its mitigation specialists. Ms. DeLaRosa's is included as well. One of the things that struck me reading through this is on page 10 of the pdf, the document says "OPDS will not compensate contractor to...attend or participate in trials during the guilt phase unless it is for the actual time spent testifying as a witness". Does this mean that Ms DeLaRosa's passing notes on behalf of the defendant for free?

Hi Katie,

I think JA kicked a lot of things in her life, but once I heard she kicked her DOG.....I have never been so "HYPER-focused" on the death penalty. She is the abusive person, not Travis. I think this new witness is Not going to testify that JA was physically abused but mentally , Ha!

I trust our man Juan will blow holes through that theory.

Did you hear the part where she wanted to "apologize to the dog!"" Like the dog really wanted to ever see or hear from that family again. That was about the most moronic thing the witch has said--So "Hi, Fido. remember 20 years ago when I kicked you??? :please: forgive me, I now have a BETTER way to release my anger--it is called MURDER,WOOF!!"

Can someone please find this clip for me, or tell me where it's at? I haven't heard anything about she-devil
kicking a dog.

Thank you advance ~

Laviolette is not coming off well so far imo. She has some weird tics, looks so nervous.
Wouldn't you be knowing JM was going to cross examine you? Frankly I'd rather have a prostate exam . . . and I am a woman. ;-)

I'm waaay behind so sorry if this has been mentioned but I'm almost spat my coffee out all over the screen listening to HLN report that cold sores can lead to cognitive issues, particularly memory loss!

Forbes also has an article on it. How long before we see an expert on the stand citing this :floorlaugh:
