Narcissm and being suicidal don't seem to exist together IMO.
And I absolutely believe Jodi is a narcissist.

I'll second that.:peace:

There has been a lot of armchair psychology about JA and we even have a thread here on the subject. Yesterday we learned more about JA both in testimony and her police interview tapes. Her physical aggression towards her mom and kicking of the dog help to support beliefs that she has a personality disorder that goes way back.

I'm wondering how much more will come out on this subject.

JA did testify that she was held back in kindergarten, IIRC. Do we have educators or child development specialists here who can help us understand why this may have happened? My thought is that she showed developmental delays or behavioral problems???

My son had a root canal ( day new pope was picked) , I watched in my iPhone.! My son could only listen. Was too funny because after three hours... The dentist, his helper and a receptionist were all hooked!

OK...hypothetical question since the topic of root canals makes me think of this case.

If you could choose to eliminate ONE element of this trial by having a root canal, despite you not really needing one, which would you get rid of?

(i) constant sidebars, delays, general lack of control and professionalism in the courtroom
(ii) listening to Nurmi and more sex talk with his slow and deliberate style/delivery
(iii) listening to Arias talk about anything
(iv) watching Arias do anything at the defense table (i.e., popping pills, draw, whisper like a middle schooler to Willmott)

I'm actually pretty certain she had them made as well. I don't think Travis had them made at all. It's likely she had the garments made after she killed Travis.

She could have made them herself. Craft stores sell iron-on letters.

The comment below was posted under some video so I copied it because I wanted to look into it. I re-watched 90% of the jury questions on days 28 and 29 but didn't find the part about any knife. I know I heard her talk about it too so perhaps I overlooked it. But does any WS member know where/when she talked about the knife?

Because if this is true, this is huge in my opinion. Many things Jodi says almost have double entendres attached but there's no way this can be misconstrued as anything else EXCEPT that she got the knife from the dishwasher.

I don't believe it proves premeditation per se (for the entire lying trip to Arizona proves that) but it would be extremely poignant for Juan to let the jury know about this little faux pas----if true.

The slip-up that woke me from a doze was when she was answering the jury’s questions (last round) about the knife. While she rambled on about maybe mixing up the memory with another time, she clearly said “I may have put it back in the dishwasher”. Excuse me, “BACK”? As in ‘that’s where you got it in the first place”? The only testimony I have seen earlier concerning this is her saying Travis took it from the knifeblock. Is there any other interpretation for saying you put something ‘back’ as opposed to ‘in’? Am I wrong, or did she just admit taking the knife from the dishwasher, which goes to pre-meditation?
I’m not the only one who noticed this – her mother visibly jumped when she said it and the cameraman was right on her.
I’m amazed that no one else seems to think this was a very telling remark that needs further investigation. It speaks VOLUMES to me.

I respectfully disagree. Of course Travis (and any other victim) is worth the investment. However, it is a travesty of justice when a defendant and her team can waste time and money on an irrelevant, erroneous and narcissistic rant of a defense that is nothing more than an uncorroborated character assassination of the victim. She has the right to claim it was self-defense, but her testimony better back up the evidence found at the crime scene and it just doesn't come anywhere near. Instead the jury was held hostage for weeks to a litany of self-serving lies and inflated, unsupported claims, an epic and unnecessary recounting of her life story, and "expert" witnesses who have stretched the substance of her behavior to breaking to attempt to support a claim of PTSD or abuse.

The same stuff happened in the Anthony trial. Re-victimizing another person with uncorroborated swill. I think it's the job of the defense to save their client's life, but not at the expense of the victim. Ever. Save the mitigating garbage for the sentencing phase and just stick to the actual evidence for the rest of it.

The defendant said on tape that if she ever hurt Travis she'd deserve the death penalty. Well, let's just take her word for that then because she has certainly admitted to this brutal and horrific crime.

Who gets to decide what is irrelevant or erroneous? Isn't it the jury? Isn't that exactly what is happening here?

Well, she'd have to have a passport to go. And, if she was a minor, I would think her parents would have to sign off on that. Not sure they would with her track record... :twocents:

Jodi makes a big deal out of it being in an exchange program. The family name was the same so it could have been a relative of the father's who let her come and stay with them. It just does not sound right. jmo

  • #988
Well, let me ask you this, Do you believe that a person accused of a crime should not be allowed to offer their version of events? If their version can be supported with evidence and/or witness's

One might be tempted to answer this question by saying, "Not if it's all lies."
To which I would say, "Who gets to decide if it's a lie?"
The very laws that determine what can be brought into the trial about the defendant.

I'm glad Knox verdict was overturned ;) but ill save that for when this trials over and I jump on that thread!

Knox is innocent -- the subject of a corrupt prosecution and police force that tampered with forensic evidence. It should have never been overturned. I pray the US doesn't extradite if she is reconvicted by that lynch mob in Florence.

I have a question - I missed the very beginning of this trial. Did not see the ME testify.

Why is there discrepancy as to the gun vs. knife first theory? Is it solely based on expert ME testimony vs. lying liar that lies saying the gunshot happened first?

What the doctor testified to is that there were 3 fatal injuries, stab to heart, slash to neck, and shot to head. Of the 3, the slash to neck was most immediately fatal, followed by the head, then the heart, he was simply placing them in order of most immediately fatal. Hope to watch cross today before 1:30.

In the meantime, here's a link comparing and contrasting both sides, gun first vs knife first, does a nice job on one page...

IMO, the defense was doomed immediately after JW's first sentence during her Opening Statement.

JENNIFER WILLMOTT, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Jodi Arias killed Travis Alexander. There is no question about it. The million-dollar question is what would have forced her to do it?

ALV is going to be hard pressed to come up with any logical conclusion as to why JA was forcedto murder Travis - none of her 'story' adds up. JA did not 'kill' Travis, she brutally murdered him in cold blood.

I, for one, am not interested in hearing any gobbledygook about 'why' or 'what' possessed the devil's spawn to do what she did. I barely listened to the charlatan, Dr.
Samuels...he insulted the intelligence of the jury and all who had the misfortune of listening to him. JM could have preserved much of his energy by simply making a mockery of the ludicrous PTSD garbage.

That said, my first impression of ALV is that she will be someone the jury can identify with - a devoted advocate for victims of DV. She has worked in the trenches along side of the victims...unlike the armchair, pop psycholgist who specializes in sex therapy.

Juan is going to have to be very careful with this witness. He can't lose sight of the fact that JA was in no way a victim of DV - it was Travis who was the victim of a vile predator, stalker, murderer.

Actually, I am looking forward to hearing how ALV is going to weave DV/battered woman syndrome into the murder of Travis, since she will not be discussing anything directly involving Travis. At least that's the way I understand it. Her testimony will most likely be valuable as it pertains to the seriousness of DV; however, NONE of it can be attributable to Jodi Arias. We know it; Juan knows it; and the jury knows it.

Jodi Arias was not forced to murder Travis! She drove 1000 miles to do it - hiding her tracks - under the cover of darkness. GUILTY - Premeditated, 1st Degree! Case closed!

I was thinking it had something to do with the PTSD, inability to trust men, cause her scattered thinking blah blah. So she has to sit by the woman. And see how involved she is in the trial and how on she is when she next to someone she trusts.

Who knows?

Kelly
I think Nurmi loathes her. JW has to sit between them. In one hearing it is explained that she went into a depression (temper tantrum, I say) when Nurmi quit. He's on record there as saying Dr. Samuels sent HIM a card because he was so concerned about her state.

Often abusive people are able to manipulate people in the system to have contact by proxie when they cannot escape the confines of the law to do it themselves. Therapists and ministers get caught in this triangulation all the time.

Can't tell for sure without seeing/hearing what transpired between KN and JA that made him throw in the towel, but plainly he was trying to be professional within the cannons.

What about suicide actions?

Such as the supposed wrist slit with the razor.... that's not suicidal?

She said...it was an accidental nick that hurt really really hurt... So she abandoned the idea.... And would explain why there isn't a scar.

The fact that Jodi moved out of her family home and moved in with a boyfriend at age 15 is very telling to m

Jodi's mother was the main parent trying to discipline the children and here lies the issue between them. Jodi resented her. Usually when you become an adult, you look back at your childhood and realize what you did to deserve the punishment. Usually you agree that your parents did the best they could do. Jodi never grew up to appreciate her mother. I don't want to hear about the "wooden spoon" story because I was spanked and hit much worse than she was. My mother did the best she could do trying to raise 6 children who could be out of control at times.

I DO have compassion (or is it sympathy) for Jodi's mother. She let her leave the home at 15 because she was tired of dealing with an out of control teenager.

Hi Crciket,

Yes, in the good old days parent's actually were allowed to strike their children:what:

I was 6 when I lost my father, and had ADD---I was a handful, and my mother actually used a belt:what:

I grew up fine and had one of the most loving relationships you could have with my mother. There is abuse and then there is ABUSE! IMO, Know the difference before you start whining.

I do not think they can use the "spoon defense".

Every time I find myself getting ready to snatch a was of my hair out, I try to remember that 99.999% of every word out of JA's mouth is a big fat lie.... unless I have seen evidence in court to prove the veracity of her statement.

I do the SAME THING! I think I know something and then I think, "Oh, wait! That came from JA!" Then I try to just erase it from my brain.

Oh, if I could only pull Transient Global Amnesia into my head with sheer will!

lets hope this woman who is an expert on abuse male and females do not judge men as a main factor in this. if she have kids and one is a male then she is also judging her son

What does this recurring dream mean?

I've had the same dream too!

I was an exchange student my senior year of high school. I had taken enough courses to graduate by the end of my junior year so that I could do this and still graduate with "my class". In my 30's, I had the recurring dream where even though I had my college degree, I had to go back to high school and complete a senior year at my original high school.

Are you sure you hadn't just watched "Never Been Kissed"? jk :seeya:

Umm - although I may have used the word 'speculation' - but I don't recall saying that without looking at my notes - your interpretation of 'speculation' may not be my interpretation as a professional poster of over 1000 posts - in my years of experience as an expert speculator, I may have made it up, yes.

You left out the part where you looked at Webster's definition of speculation, which you agree with, only you don't agree with it, because you have your own definition, based on your experience with those 1000 posts as an expert speculator, which means something different to you, except when it doesn't.

Morning! Lol, I'm just imagining JM's face after being rushed by dozens of adoring fans asking him to sign their Juanderbras.

Juan may have to consult with Tom Jones for tips on how to deal with situations involving intimate apparel.

BTW - Before production commences, I would like to be part of the IPO! Maybe a special deal/lower share price to WS members. Ha
