trial day 38: the defense continues its case in chief #110

It does not make sense for Samantha to be in tears over this. The case involved a guilty plea and the sentencing options were 205 years to LWOP. He got the maximum sentence, so I think this is more of HLN's erroneous reporting.

I don't know... people cry for a lot of different reasons. Maybe it was seeing someone getting justice that opened the floodgates. This trial has got to be hell on so many different levels for TA's family, and maybe she's just feeling overwhelmed right now.

I can tell you from personal experience that is is very, very draining sitting in a courtroom. The atmosphere is stressful.

Rule Reminders:

1) Keep the religious debate off of the thread please.

2) Do NOT call names or otherwise bash the defense team.

3) NO OFF COLOR OR SEXUAL JOKES PLEASE

4) if you have a problem with a post use the ALERT BUTTON (do not respond)

Please post responsibly.

Does anyone else find it a bit peculiar that these debilitating "migraines" didn't make an appearance during the 18 days that Precious Angel Snowflake Arias was on the witness stand nattering on and on and on about herself? I mean, really?

This is actually the most normal thing about her I've seen this far! This is the second most stressful time for defendants... The most is the final days of the trial.

IMO

I'm sorry to keep harping but I am so steaming mad right now. It makes me want to quit following this trial. I can't stand how things are being run.

I am beginning to feel this way too. I have never had much faith in the justice system prior to this trial and now this circus of a trial has me scared too death. Is this how the real world operates in Murder trials?

Damn it, I now have JA's migraine.

I need to calm down and take deep breaths.

So any thoughts on whether ALV decides to charge the good people of Arizona for 6 or 7 hours of work?

What a bummer. Now I don't know what to do.

Go to a movie , clean house, do a good deed for elderly person, gee, what do you usually do???
Sorry to sound harsh but there is more to life than watching trials , Hope you have a good weekend, then back to the trial.
I expect it to go on all next week.

Travis' family has been subjected to great stress since June 4, 2008. It's not up to us to question what makes sense or doesn't as far as them being upset goes. I am sure every day is a difficult day for them and they have to get dressed and out of the house and into the courtroom every day. They have to sit in the same room as JA, who butchered their brother. They have to sit in the same room as "the justice system" who has tried to paint their brother as an abuser and also a pedophile.

Perhaps seeing another murderer get sentenced pushed Samantha's buttons. There's only so much people can take and they have been accumulating stress for almost five years.

I am not attacking your post I just want to offer up an explanation that it might not be something in particular. It might just be the whole process. We all have bad days where things bother us more than they do on good days.

If migraine is severe, you CANNOT drive or stand, much less go to work. You don't suck it up! You guys are insulting those of us who really do get migraines. Please stop.

As for Jodi, we can all agree she may be faking illness.

I am not insulting anyone who suffers from migraines. I have never had one but I hear they are horrendous and debilitating.

I just don't care if JA is suffering from one. I don't care how sick she is, she is in no position to dictate the schedule of this trial.

Pretty sure we ALL want Ms. Arias to take her medicine....starting with Sodium Pentothal

We shoulda' seen that coming - she was "dizzy" yesterday and needed a special snack.

ummm hmm

She's prolly managed to get herself pregnant. A jury will find it hard to give DP to a pregnant woman.

MOO

Who has the state added to their witness list? Is Matt M. on the list?

She is a waitress. (Nothing wrong with that) Even I don't call myself a professional photographer and I get between $400 and $600 to go for a couple hours to do a photo shoot. (dogs! couple hrs might be followed by about 6 or so hrs of work :)

Holy cow those are great!!! So cute!!! Good photography skills, I would think, would be handy in your line of work.

They could at least make up for it by extending hours or working weekends. This judge needs a demotion

I wonder if the judge is aware of the flack she's getting for the way she is running her courtroom (or not running it) or does she just not care??

Seriously, the judge is not doing anything wrong. It is extremely frustrating to us and the jury and the courtroom observers. But the judge is doing her job. She CANNOT force Jodi to sit in court sick - even if Jodi is lying (which she most probably is). The defendant has the right to be present and assist her counsel with her defense. The judge can, if prepared, make alternate arrangements for the defendant to monitor the trial, i.e., from an alternate location. That would have to include her attorney being present with her - so Nurmi and Wilmont would have to split up. There would have to be a contingency plan.

While I get frustrated with how slowwwwwwwwwww this trial has moved along, from what I have see, outside of the Judge sustaining some things or overruling some things that I disagree with, she is doing a good job. I work for a judge. If you think YOU are tired and exhausted from this trial, I can guarantee you that listening to the courtroom antics and separating the opposing teams from a school yard fight day in and day out is truly mentally exhausting for the judge.

Sorry. Didn't mean to rant on.

I AM an AZ taxpayer. The expense of this case is just ONE of the things that makes me livid.

I understand and feel for you. I am a taxpayer in FL who got to pay for CA's charade. :furious:

Try Sally's: GVP Conditioning balm (knock off of Matrix). Amazing!

Biosilk silk therapy... you put a bit on the ends of your hair before drying and your hair is literally like silk afterwards. I promise you will love it!

This is what I am thinking- she didn't like something that went down in that hearing.

I saw Jodi look over a couple of times during ALV's testimony at JM or in his direction. Not sure what caught her attention but she did not seem to like what she was seeing. At other times when ALV sounded as if she were describing what could be better suited to Travis Jodi had a concerned look in her eyes. I think she knows JM will turn it around. Could it be JW was at the end of her questioning of ALV? jmo

Yes I am so sorry. Chris Hughes it is.
That entire story is interesting, and I hope we get to hear more about it - hopefully during rebuttal. Can you imagine how the jurors would feel about Arias if they knew ON TOP of slaughtering him, she manufactured evidence to destroy his character?
This woman and whoever supports her lies, are lower than low.
Please Lady Justice, open the eyes of the jurors who work on your behalf.
