trial day 38: the defense continues its case in chief #110

Can someone tell me what they were talking about when Arias got "sick"? Was the witness still going on with examples about types of abuse? Sorry I grew up with DV, worked through it all and broke the cycle for my kids/grand-kids, it saddens me to see that evil woman (Jodi) use this defense. I had to zone out on this with a book, half listening to the TV and missed it. I blinked with I heard Samatha was crying via HLN, :(

Do psychopaths actually get stressed? I wonder if this ticked off her defense team as it may gave derailed their trial strategy also? (I sure hope it does anyway!) She can delay, but the clock will slowly tick down.

The bar is super super high for them.

I think she's hungry;)

If I were Nurmi... I'd discuss, at length what and where I ate lunch everyday :) and every morning I'd reek of cinnabons!

I heard on another site that Court was cancelled because the Alexander Family was Extremely upset at the Impact Statements and sentencing of a Murder that was sentenced today for killing his girlfriend by stabbing her 44 times with a screw driver. Judge gave him Natural Life W/O Parole. Does anyone know if this is true? Or is it that Jodi has a Headache?

I wonder what kind of meds? Psychotropic meds? I do wonder if this is finally getting to her?

My ex daughter in law had her hair falling out in clumps and lost weight when she found out that she was facing some jail time in our custody case. I've wondered if she would come after and kill me if she really felt cornered and found out.
She was going to be exposed to her parents for what she was and facing having to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. But then her parents blew it off and said mistakes were made and shes fine now a great mother and wife. Her psych eval was bought down to a social study which was a joke.

I go back and and forth in my anger then forgive her then back to hate again. I wake up clenching my teeth some nights and in a sweat.

And to those old hippies;

He turned thirty-five last Sunday In his hair he found some gray But he still ain't changed his lifestyle He likes it better the old way So he grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence He's consuming what he's growing nowadays in self defense

He get's out there in the twilight zone Sometimes when it just don't make no sense
He gets off on country music Cause disco left him cold He's got young friends into new wave But he's just too friggin' old.

And he dreams at night of Woodstock and the day John Lennon died How the music made him happy and the silence made him cry Yeah he thinks of John sometimes And he has to wonder why

He's an old hippie and he don't know what to do Should he hang on to the old Should he grab on to the new He's an old hippie...his new life is just a bust He ain't trying to change nobody He's just trying real hard to adjust

BELLAMY BROTHERS - OLD HIPPIE LYRICS

I still make my old grannie dresses and barefoot in the garden and yard.

Just wanted to say I loved reading your post. Highs, lows and everything in between. :)

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Hilarious -- the "jail Easter pageant" !

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I needed a good laugh !

:great::great::great: Thank You !

:seeya:

I wonder if she will be singing "Here Comes Peter Cottontail"?
for the Maricopa jail American Idol Easter Pageant

Just thinking (yikes) while reading the great posts, my take on Arias "sudden attack of her headache" that was so bad to cancel court today:

When she was arrested she looked healthy and at an appropriate weight. She continued to look healthy with her appropriate weight through her TV appearances. Now at her trial, (counting on fingers - five years later ??) to me, she appears Anorexic. This could cause fainting feelings and actually faint from lack of proper nutrition that she is eating. Anorexia Nervosa symptoms can cause really bad headaches because her sugar/glucose is low.

Additionally to her extreme weight loss, I believe she was intensely listening to Alyce L. especially the "continuum" of abuse in families. I believe she was both learning more stuff to use in her arsenal of pathology toward others as well as hearing herself.

Psychopaths confronted with themselves w/o the ability to "do something back" are very dangerous!!! This also could be another problem that could have occurred toward her attorneys! The Headache is the Public Relations Release story. It is possibility.

Just thinking..

:moo: JMHO :moo:

They could at least make up for it by extending hours or working weekends. This judge needs a demotion

If the AZ court is operating on a minimized budget, like most courts across the nation, we are lucky we get 4 days of trial.

Our court lost 6 people due to sequestration and budget slashes. Our county and state courthouses are now operating on a rotating day basis. Dark one day a week.

Believe you, me...these people are working extremely hard these days.

and P.S. - OT a little - if things don't turn around for city, state and federal gov economically, it will only get worse. Try courthouses open only 3 days a week, etc.

This has probably already been said, ya'll are too fast for me to keep up with the posts, lol, BUT:

I would place a wager that the Judge made the ruling to cancel court today because "Jodi is too ill at this time" to adequately assist her attorneys in her own defense. Therefore court is cancelled. It's probably a judgement call on Judge Sherrie's behalf to lessen the risk of appellate issues for the defense to use later on after verdict and sentencing. Sadly, I truly believe this is the case. :banghead:

This is actually the most normal thing about her I've seen this far! This is the second most stressful time for defendants... The most is the final days of the trial.

IMO

Final days? hmmmm. I'll believe it when I see it.
Have we even reached the 1/2way point?

Seriously, the judge is not doing anything wrong. It is extremely frustrating to us and the jury and the courtroom observers. But the judge is doing her job. She CANNOT force Jodi to sit in court sick - even if Jodi is lying (which she most probably is). The defendant has the right to be present and assist her counsel with her defense. The judge can, if prepared, make alternate arrangements for the defendant to monitor the trial, i.e., from an alternate location. That would have to include her attorney being present with her - so Nurmi and Wilmont would have to split up. There would have to be a contingency plan.

While I get frustrated with how slowwwwwwwwwww this trial has moved along, from what I have see, outside of the Judge sustaining some things or overruling some things that I disagree with, she is doing a good job. I work for a judge. If you think YOU are tired and exhausted from this trial, I can guarantee you that listening to the courtroom antics and separating the opposing teams from a school yard fight day in and day out is truly mentally exhausting for the judge.

Sorry. Didn't mean to rant on.

She could have made her watch on remote TV from the jail- it's been done before when defendants have been too disruptive to stay in court.
What's next for a day off- menstrual cramps?

It seems Ms. LV decided to go with the defense after talking to a known liar. If she is so easily duped as she appears to be with this one, it makes me wonder how many other cases she has been wrong about.

Great perspective!

Rant away! :) I like hearing from people 'in the know'. I'm just a regular ole person watching this and it's nice getting the perspective of people closer to these sorts of situations.

What you say makes tons of sense but it doesn't make me any less angry and annoyed. :D

I don't know if there's a way to tell. Migraines are one problem I don't have. But she really could claim a daily migraine and just shut down the trial indefinitely. :furious:

I suffered migraines for decades before I entered menopause. They need to treat her prophylactically, and give her Imitrex when she has a flare up. She was fine when she was living it up with TA, not to mention slaughtering him, she needs to suck it up and face her fate! Sck of this crap! :furious:

Not the judge's fault. Why take away from the jury's time off? They still have lives to live. This jury is not sequestered so there is no reason to work extended hours or weekends. They probably are relieved not to have to sit through ALV's testimony going over what DV is. Defense seems to want to ask the same question 20 different ways to try and get their point across. It will be a long weekend for everyone and I'm willing to bet the jurors will welcome it. jmo

I'm surprised that Jodi hasn't insisted that the Judge cancel court for PMS or cramps :angel:

Yes! When she was taking that pill the other day we all jumped on it- come to find out she was IMO just setting the stage for a day off...:banghead:

Do not want the jury to see her with a migraine that may only give her sympathy. I've had some before that no amount of medicine will fix so I just curl up on the couch with something over my face to block out all light and no one is allowed to talk higher then a whisper near me. Do not need to see her in the fetal position ( sure a bit dramatic but I bet Jodi would try to do it) on the floor in pain. Though I am ticked off that there is no court today dragging this all out even more.

By the way those lights in the courtroom look horrible on the eyes of someone with a migraine so I hope they hurt her like HE double hockey sticks before they canceled court today. May she be doubled over, head spinning and feeling like her skull will crush in any moment in time every time she blinked her eyes, breathed, hair moved etc.
