trial day 38: the defense continues its case in chief #112

Was the bizarre ploy by Nurmi/Wilmott to get in a dig at HLN, Jean Casarez and Juan Martinez just a desperate attempt at grasping for that last Defense straw?

Or was it also a case of naked professional jealousy?

Now JA is at the part where the masked ninjas attacked Travis...what an imagination.

How Det. Flores can sit there without laughing is commendable.

:silly:

Yeah, her story sucked. ' I didn't recognize ANY of them.'

'Any' of the TWO?

What a doofus. And her descriptions: 'they weren't saying much.....' 'Travis wasn't doing much.....'

She had all night to come up with the story and this is the best she could do.

IMO Dr Drew has been exaggerating the truth and has lost any empathy for the emotionally ill JA. I have lost respect for Dr Drew lately. He almost seems to drool over all the sex in this case. almost creepy. and what does he mean that a cigar is only a smoke? If he is referring to bill Clinton, that is creepy!

Right up there for quote of the day, "I think jail is a pretty boring place." ALV

The new and improved Jodi ninja story. Just WOW! Having been an elementary teacher for many years, it was like one of those stories you get from a 2nd grader about their homework that just keeps building and building. At least an innocent little child isn't trying to get away with murder. How did detective Flores keep a straight face?? What a story teller! Every time she didn't know what to say next she just buried her face.

She was, even then, trying to portray herself with this childish demeanor. Fast forward to the trial and she attempted the same thing during her direct testimony, all the while, however, describing in overly graphic detail the unusual sexual practices between herself and Travis. What a contradiction.

:what:

MOO

I've never seen this??? What did she ask about the Prosecutor?

Detective Flores was telling Arias she could speak to the prosecutor about not going to trial. Arias said then asked what his name is and Detective Flores replied Juan Martinez and that he was the #1 prosecutor...

I think he was referring to a famous quote by Sigmund Freud " Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".

She actually had longer than that to perfect her scenario. Before she even went to Mesa she should have had in her mind what would have taken place. Using two weapons automatically implies the possibility of two perpetrators. However, she did not count on her premeditated crime having any flaws, no evidence of her being there left behind, and therefore no police interrogation. She, in her mind, would have the perfect crime, and LE would never be interrogating HER. Instead she would be assisting THEM! Or so she thought.

Look ... I did not kill TA ... I am not JA ... See - my fingers are all straight!

:giggle:

Did I hear/read correct that Jodi was angry with her Mother as her Dad made innapropriate (sexual) comments to her and Mom didn't support her??? If so I was wondering when a hint of that would enter this trial. Shades of CA Defense :furious:

guess I should give an example of Dr Drew exaggerating. When he was interviewing the friend of Travis who was confronted by Jodi in the bathroom at one of the PPL conventions. Dr Drew was pushing her to describe the situation in a much different way than what she was saying. Dr Drew wanted her to say that Jodi was threatening, blah, blah. The friend, however just said Jodi sais she was not mad at her but at travis and that they are an item now. IMO this case does not need any exaggeration.

I know others here have said the same thing and now I do agree, having watched her telling the Ninja story (I hadn't seen it before now). There are moments of truth in that story and it makes me so sad. The way she described TA, on all fours, screaming in pain, etc. Those parts of it are real. She incorporated that into her fable.... the more she speaks the more you can pick out nuggets of the truth.

There it is:

According to Deathpenaltyinfo - Capital cases cost 70% more than others.

In Maryland the average captial trial is $3 million
In Florida capital cases that end in execution cost an average of $24 million
In Texas a capital trial averages $2.6 million

So this cost seems pretty average - or below average.
Which is my #1 reason for opposing the death penalty.
