It was an unexpected boon to Juan that LaViolette said "Are you angry with me, Mr. Martinez?"

Not only can she make Snow White (or Jodi Arias) into a battered woman (for the right price), but she can also make prosecutor Juan Martinez (or victim Travis Alexander) into an abusive man.

She's a woman of many talents (for the right price).

:twocents:

I think her expecting Juan to talk like she does is very controlling, then trying to chastise him in front of everyone for not being like her, well that is downright abusive. Somebody pass me that there continuum, I'm seeing a parallel.

BBM

Not me.:D I have always thought from minute one that he is the best Prosecutor I have ever seen in over two decades of watching criminal trials.

He never disappoints me.

IMO

I completely agree.

Oh boy. I have to also disagree with the majority. I just started watching cross. I dislike what Laviolette did during direct. I think she lacked credibility and came at the case from a position of deep bias. But I don't think she gave a bought opinion like Samuels did.

I think this lady actually believes what she testified to.

And even though her testimony was frustrating and felt cruel at times, I don't think she is hated like Samuels was. I think her opinion lacked credibility and I disliked it. But I Think she herself is like able and Juan Martinez is making a mistake by yelling at her and acting frustrated.

ITA gitana1, imo that is why Juan brought up her pay. I think the jury did find her sincere in her opinions and Juan wanted to rein it in to remind jury she is still just a paid expert who is subject to bias. She is not someone who "knows" JA.

Wow, wow, wow! I was having dinner with my grandma and got on the live stream on my phone just after JM started so I missed some of it. HLN is supposed to be playing it and they did up until JVM. Now that NG is on, we've gone back to direct.

Ugh!!! Why? I just want to see more of JUAN!!!

  • #267
I love how Juan Martinez is showing everyone what it really means to be in a "fog."

Yay!

  • #268
Whats up with nancy grace? Right in middle of Juan's cross her show comes on now we're back on ALV!!! Is this a rerun?

Her show is taped. So when she is taping her show, that is where the trial was. Confusing, I know.

WHAT? ALV approached TA's sister? WOW .... Wow

...was not the victim.

Freudian slips...Samuel had plenty, too.

ALV is going to have a hard time repairing her reputation.

She can begin by answering Martinez's questions without the snark.

The only discussion allowed regarding books written by ALV should be about content only and how it pertains to this case.

Anyone even suggesting an organized effort to leave bad reviews or ruin this woman's business will suffer a loss of posting privileges, if not their Websleuths membership.

We're better than this folks, so do not go there. If you've made posts even responding to this sort of an effort, please go back and delete your posts.

:tos:

I just got to this thread! I did not post what I did about her book to cause any problems. I was up late and found her part saying about Snow White and I was stunned and shocked. I just wanted eveyone to know ALV was lying, she might have used SW as the title to snag more people but she did and still does say in her own words that SW was an abused woman. I was so upset I did not sleep at all last night.

Ohhh Jodi disciplinary actions in jail!!!

Got in a fight with her cell mate JULY 27 2009
someone was stressed that TA SHOULD have had another birthday
the next day!!!

In thread #121 katydid23 said:
I LOVE that she said JA ' lost consciousness' when her dad shoved her.

Jodi loses consciousness more often than people on soap operas (and they lose consciousness VERY easily).

Yep. She was trying to back up her cover story with these journal entries -- starting from May 27th to at least June 12th.

On the 27th of May, she start's trying to corroborate her Utah alibi, steals the gun on the 28th and leaves on June 2nd. Or she stopped writing in her journal on May 26th (the date she snapped) and went back post-murder writing journal entries for the dates of May 27th to June 12th. This makes a lot of other pages that predate May 26th suspect. What was really on those ripped out pages? Did she feel in blank pages?

He should simply ask "and you have no way of knowing when these journal entries were actually written, do you?"

I'm fixated on her journals. I can't wait to hear what JM does with that.

It was posted from a tweet she did. Tweet was from wildabouttrial , reliable source.

How do they know what was said? Come on folks--why so quick to crucify #5?

  • #276
Source? A reliable one please...(I'm behind so ignore me if this has been verified)

Someone posted a picture of it upstream somewhere.

eta: But for all we know she might have been saying " no comment."

She didn't HAVE to read anything.

JW just told her what they said and ALV's job was to say "oh, yes", or "that's very common....we see that all the time" every time she heard "is that right?" From JW's simpering mouth.

It was like a ventriloquist and her dummy.

Exactly. The questions he asked her were not ones where she had to read anything.

She was very defiant, arrogant and combative.

I don't know what it is about the defense experts but they just cant answer a simple question without it being a big deal and wanting to spar with the Prosecutor.

IMO

what is this ridiculous "finger in the ear" thing NG does when they're still playing the trial footage? They think no one knows this is no longer real time due to 3 mts trial / 8 mts ads format?

  • #279
I think her expecting Juan to talk like she does is very controlling, then trying to chastise him in front of everyone for not being like her, well that is downright abusive. Somebody pass me that there continuum, I'm seeing a parallel.

Here ya go: "Please, Continue." She tried to make JM look like an idiot, and appealed only to the like minded.

Wonder how the jury read that? 'Specially the numbers man on the Jury (the businessman, I think he's called on the insider thread).

This has probably been asked and answered a zillion times, but the search function isn't returning anything for me...

When the prosecution and defense goes up to a sidebar, it seems they pass a little item on the Judge's desk, in between themselves - a brown bar, or something? Is that what they use to 'take turns' speaking up at the sidebar?

Thanks in advance.
