I don't mean to simplify it but they could have picked a more believable defense like Jodi ingested bath salts and went looney tunes on him. I would believe that.

Abuse? no...
:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
I had such a rotten day at work (psych ER) and this just...killed me because it is so true...THAT I would have believed, considering just the little bit I have seen of what bath salts can do to someone.

I think that was because the DT was not expecting that line of questioning, it took them and ALV totaly off guard and she had not been rehearsed on that. jmo

BINGO. That is exactly why he starts all of his crosses off with total surprises.

He knows the witnesses are sitting there with prepared scripts for all of the usual subjects. He cannot get anywhere with them if they have their prepared scripts memorized.

That's why he throws them a curve ball from out of nowhere--it gets them all nervous and riled up. It throws them off script and then he veers into the meat of his case. He is brilliant, imo.

Indeed, we should all ask the same questions. I guess I can't say I'm surprised, but I was stunned that they whizzed over that whole "Travis getting killed thing," like some kind of UFO on its way out of the atmosphere. Who the heck do they think they're kidding?

Bizarre, I thought her main reason to be there was to explain why an alleged DV victim (JA) would still see TA as a threat after he was incapacitated and thus continue with the attack. But, abrupt stop. Sorry only hired to give determination on whether she was DV victim prior to killing. Anticlimactic ending.

There's another case of long-distance domestic violence that culminated in murder too. Venus Stewart was doing everything 'right'. She'd left her abuser, moved home to her parents, filed for divorce, got a restraining order, had the police reports, and was insistent to be careful with contact.

Her husband traveled across several states after she'd left to murder her. Her body still has yet to be located and her daughters are being raised by her parents. :( He, however, was convicted of her murder.

It kind of puts into perspective the 'norm' for abusers to escalate violence when their victims leave, even when there's a great geographical distance.

I have never bared my soul to any significant extent here, as I find that kind of thing inappropriate as a rule. However, many of these posts have touched me personally.

I realize that I am often flippant and like to have a good time here. But I was very badly abused as a child, and witnessed the same and worse to my mother into my teens. I feel exactly as you do, BritsKate. I know what abuse is really like, and I know how people talk about it (or don't) when it as really happened to them. I know what it's like to be terrified to go home and to live in fear every time you hear the door open because you don't know what's coming next.

To say that this noxious display of obvious falsity has been deeply and personally insulting is an understatement. After all of these years (I am now 55), I am still ashamed to admit that I was beaten as a child. It leaves permanent scars which have held me back in many ways. When I look at the smug expression on that person's face I cannot help but feel resentment, the moreso because I know full well she cannot begin to comprehend what genuine abuse is really about.

I appreciate your courage in speaking out. You have given me the courage to do the same, as I want to lend my voice to yours in indignation.

She's the mitigation specialist no less.

i REALLY SINCERELY HOPE the jury can see the reactions coming out of jodi's side of the courtroom, and i'm pretty sure they did today, as their lost juror #5 was sitting behind them so they were probably a bit more aware of that area.

the behaviour was appalling, unprofessional (on the mitigator's part) and if anyone on travis' side were doing that, you betcha old nurmi would be in first thing monday asking for a mistrial and trying to get them removed! :furious:

Well I respectfully disagree, I tend to think it could have been a slam/dunk case, he, IMO, may cause some jurors to question more because of the way he acts. (If I was on that jury, I know he would send "red flags" up to me.) So, guess we will see how it ends, I know I'm ready for it to be over, lol

If I had a nickel for every time ive said this I would be rich LOl To me his unprofessional combative stance and attack mode approach of crossing has only risks and no benefit other than to impress his fans. I would much rather have a normal civil servant like the rest of the prosecutors ive seen in the past. There simply is no reason to act this way and it may come back to bite him with a 2nd degree instead of a 1st. If this happens you will have him to thank.

Personally I think it is terribly disrespectable and frankly un heard of and that is why we have never seen such nonsense in court before. I would venture to say he rubs jurors the wrong way and like I said it is not worth the risk in a death penalty case. I agree with you fully

At the end of the day, while the rest of the courtroom observers left, the brunette and the blonde talked to the mitigation specialist while Nurmi talked to LaViolette.
Then they walked out of the courtroom arm and arm with LaViolette.

This my friends is absolutely unacceptable and I, for one am outraged at just what the hell is going on in this court of criminal law that is in the process of prosecuting, convicting, and putting to death a human being(and yes, I hate having to admit this soulless creature on trial in the end is a human being).. but these above proof positive inappropriate OUTRIGHT OPEN DISPLAYS..THEY damn well are actual offenses for which these ppl in the gallery can be slapped with charges and jail time.. i am outraged!

you mean to tell me they drag these victims in chambers and demand they remove ribbons worn honoring their slaughteredloved one, and yet these ppl have free reign to abuse, disrespect, and literally display such open disregard for this court and the mockery their making of JJS and her courtroom..

i now see exactly who ALV was playing to with her open mockery and full load of snark towards Juan.. i now see she has the full Apple Dumpling Gang egging her on from the courts gallery..

i want to ask one question.. ask yourselves if this behavior and antics were dare displayed on the opposite of that gallery where Travis' family sits?..what all out full war of adamant DEMANDS FOR mistrial WOULD BE DEMANDED FROM THIS DEFENDANT AND HER COUNSEL.

PLEASE PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW IS THIS ALLOWED?

Did anyone who is watching/watched NG today catch what year JA was bridesmaid in Patty's wedding? When they were showing still photos of JA holding the camera at the wedding, one of the photos they showed, where she is touching the lens of the camera, shows her left ring finger knuckle sticking out like she did in court.

If the wedding was PRIOR to the alleged finger breaking incident, then the photo proves she is double jointed and did not get a broken finger from Travis, IMHO!

According to HLN's website, the wedding was in July, 2004.

i think travis talked, jodi 'did'. she was sneaky and passive aggressive and drove him up the wall. her lies to get jealousy out of him, the things she did. i mean even in the taped convo she was like 'oh i hope i can meet someone as kinky as you'. i don't think for a second that she meant that, she wanted him to say 'don't meet anyone else jodi, i'll be your kink forever'. that's a tactic i used to use when i was young and stupid. i used to be a lot like jodi when i was younger (minus the killing & stalking part). i was manipulative and pretended like i was all 'okay' with a guy i liked to go and find someone else, but i'd be losing my mind on the inside. i was jealous and wanted to make my boyfriends jealous too and i made up fake guys or stories.

and this is why i'm single at 40 lol. i'm so glad i figured it all out. i had abandonment issues. jodi, well she's really sick in the head. i couldn't imagine killing someone. although i did enjoy hurting them emotionally.

Welcome to the club 40 and single club.

His FANS :floorlaugh:
Yes that is what he cares so much about...his fans. He could care less if he has fans obviously! Hilarious.
BTW his trial record speaks for itself. I doubt all those juries were fans of his.

After seeing JM cross examine ALV, the psychologist, and JA I am convinced JA is a psychopath. You could tell when JM got inder the skin of the psychologist and ALV but JA was able to keep her cool and was even smug. I think any normal person would respond like the other witnesses, not like JA did.

I just have a hard time believing that a couple of heated arguments between people who dated for FIVE MONTHS and then a final "eff you" text message series from the one who was being stalked could have caused PTSD and Battered Woman Syndrome in the accused. Just really finding it hard to believe... color me silly, I guess.

I agree with you. He was a young single man who dated women. He may have been rude to her, but I guess he should be when she is causing him so much grief. Is that a good reason to kill him? No, I don't think so.

she's a free citizen, not a criminal and has every right to go anywhere the general public can. I really don't get this hatred for this poor woman who was seemingly a diligent juror who was likely targeted by the defense for just that reason. Give the chick a break. She hasn't done anything wrong. The only criminal is Jodi. If this woman wanted money she would have been on every morning show the first day.

I don't hate her, I just worry about her sabotaging this trial by talking about things that don't need to be talked about. If you read the story she said she needed to consult with her legal advisers before she gave an interview. Yesterday she wasn't going to give any interviews until the trial was over, which is the right thing to do.
She can do whatever she wants, I just hope she doesn't jeopardize the hard work of many people, not to mention the large amount of money that has been spent, just so she can have her 15 minutes.

Criminal Defense Attorney, Former Prosecutor, Adjunct Law Professor at Univ. of Miami and so much more.....

If he was really so smart, he would realize he could learn some things from one of Arizona’s top death penalty prosecutors.

My. Have you forgotten the "singing contest" already? We'd all pay good money to have Juan ask Simon to describe the defendant's singing ability. ;)

Yes, I had. I forgot our lady JA is a renaissance woman. She can paint, write in old testament verbiage, commit the odd murder and sing. Better line up boys. :floorlaugh:

  • #1,018
I realize Jodi is probably not telling us the truth about anything. Or just parts of the truth, maybe.

It's one of the biggest weaknesses in her case.

IMO

BBM: You are correct. So, why in the world would ANYONE believe her NOW??

No need to answer. Per you, JA is "not telling the truth about anything"...nothing else needs to be said. Except...GUILTY. There is no reason to lie, if you didn't do anything wrong. I agree with you, she has lied about everything! Nothing she has said is reliable, and nothing she has spewed to the defense, defense experts, is reliable.

JA is nothing but a lying murderer. Trying to save her own skin from the DP. A CHICKEN!! Yes, this just occurred to me, she is chicken and a huge COWARD! If she had the b@lls to slaughter someone, she should have the b@lls to stand trial, tell the truth, admit her crime, and take the punishment. I have ZERO respect for a CHICKEN, one who hides behind defense attorney's and hired guns. My pinky has more guts than this <unusual person>.

JMO
