How is it that there was so much computer evidence in the KC trial and there isn't in this one? JA's computer might have murder searches and that sort of thing. KC had a lot of fishy searches!

Of course, JA is sneakier so she may avoided conducting any murder searches on her computer. Not much to research anyway. Her plan was 'torture Travis and then stab him to death.'

I believe her computer history is under seal??? IIRC it stemmed from when she was representing herself but I may be wrong. I'll check.

119 minutes until we get the seal and then have to wait another 2 hours for the DT to stop whining about a mistrial!!

I agree with you Lulu...I also noticed Nurmi "lack" of posture when JW was questioning ALV on the stand. He was sitting there with his back towards JA. In effect, dismissing her to his presence. It was almost like he didn't want to have anything to do with her.

He always looks like he's sitting on the couch watching paint dry. Not much into this trial at all.

Ok, I am a bit confused - if ALV was initially brought in as a Mitigation Specialist would she have had access to all of the defense information? I have read many posts that the DT cherry-picked the information she received as a DV expert and wonder if that is truly the case based on her initial MS status. Can someone please clarify this for me? TIA!

Yes of course. She can even request more info through some freedom-of-information act too I s'pose but she's not just a professional counselor of abuse, she, like Dr Samuel are professional expert witnesses in trials and take sides.

Right now I'm sounding a little hypocritical because earlier I said I felt she might've only been given certain information but the more I think about it the more these career trial witnesses are nothing more than glorified used-car salesmen--- trying to sell that lemon by accentuating its great sounding stereo system. *sigh*

Let's face it, there are some cases that just don't deserve a trial of their peers (like this one where giving 3 stories and you should be out) but attorneys love to look for loop holes or flipping-the-script for monetary gain instead righting a wrong.

O/T

I dated a defense attorney from Miami who represented very serious criminals but after a SHORT while, I just could not respect someone who protected the constitutional Rights of people who robbed, raped and killed others by finding loop holes. He saw it as challenging. I saw it as criminal.

It's scary because if someone rapes your daughter, kills your dog or car-jacks your grandma...they can walk if Miranda rights aren't given!

I have wondered about JA's computer also. The only drives testified to, were Travis' laptop and Jodi's broken drive. From the sound of expert testimony it appears this broken drive was an external one. Is this the case or am I mistaken? If it an external drive why was there no talk by experts regarding her laptop?

Broken drive means JA tried to destroy it?

This is how you can tell that the DT knows it is on a sinking ship, bailing water with a sieve:

Whenever the DT is questioning a witness, JM sits at the table, barely moving, and when he objects it's not anything hysterical, jumping up theatrics.....he objects, barely moving, states the issue and then they move on; when JM is on cross, the DT will JUMP up, practically crying (Wilma), acting all OFFENDED, or else objecting just to object (and then practically having no ACTUAL objection!). Their desperation must stink up the courtroom.

Just watch the demeanors of both teams. It's very telling.

DT antics, body language of witnesses, who's to blame for the numerous delays, etc. can't be lost on the jurors.

It's condescending, IMO. She's trying to equalise her perceived "power differential". I'm guessing it's all about power for LaViolette.

THIS IS ABOUT ALV USING JM's WHOLE NAME IN ALMOST EVERY ANSWER

The fact that Juan does not respond by using her full name in every single question tells me that, contrary to HLN, his questioning and technique is considered and deliberate. It is designed to take advantage of witness manipulations and expose them to the jury.

Juan does not use a script because he is reading body language and responding to the witness in a very dynamic way. Pick any one of his famous lines from this trial--most of them are created by the defendant's answers.

I love this one:

Were you crying when you shot him? Were you crying when you stabbed him? Were you crying when you slit his throat?

You can't match this with carefully scripted questions as the HLN expert keeps insisting.

Manifesto??

That's NEVER good -- Unabomber, Mass murderer Anders Breivik, Communist manifesto, Virginia Tech mass murderer Cho, terrorist/killer Eric Rudolph.

I can't think of a "manifesto" in modern history that has ever had a positive connotation associated with it. Can't wait to see what this is all about.

Last winter my family and I were on a cruise. We were at the lifeboat drill and the woman directing it mentioned something about the "passenger manifesto."

My brother, a political history professor, gasped and said "we've been here three hours and some of the passengers, maybe the disgruntled ones with inside cabins, got together and wrote a manifesto???? Wow, I'd think that would take at least a week."

Nobody around us got it. My brother said "never thought the word manifesto would make me laugh so hard"

So much is 'under seal' in this case. :banghead:

Any guesses as to how LONG JA's manifesto is? I thought about that rambling email to Abe. Just think how wordy and windy this woman will be in what she thinks is her crowning literary achievement?!? :blushing:

  • #1,230
So will this manifesto be allowed in? The DT seemed shocked and totally unprepared when JM brought it up yesterday. This could be a HUGE blow to their case.
:please:

Are we sure Nurmi isn't having us all on?

We started with him casting Arias as Beauty, and Travis as the Beast.

Followed by his declaration in court that it's a fairy tale to think the jurors are honest.

Then, Alyce in Wonderland accuses poor Snow White of being a battered woman (with pertinent illustration provided by the defendant).

Now, we have witches inserted into a Motion for Mistrial, with Juan Martinez cast in the role of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, leading his followers all over the wicked internet.

I can't wait for Judge Stephens to don her crown and cry "Off with her Head."

Something I gotta get out. I admit there are many, many posts I haven't read, but there is one item I haven't come across, even in posts where it would fit in the dialog.
Its CANCUN....simply said & Timeline-wise, she was NOT going to allow him to go to CANCUN w/o her....I haven't seen this mentioned, and perhaps its importance to JA

Fun fact: IQ tests were developed after Albert Einstein's death, so his IQ is not known.

? Einstein died in 1955, I believe IQ tests were developed before that?

Although Einstein never took an IQ test, so nobody knows what his IQ was anyway. (JA is the only person alive who apparently knows what his IQ was:floorlaugh:).

(snipped the rest)

IMO, I've been to many conferences, so in my non-expert opinion, you have 1 keynote speaker on the front end to set the tone for the conf. Breakout sessions are conducted by other 'facilitators' or speakers, but they are not considered the 'keynote speaker'

Absolutely! Calling yourself something doesn't make it so. Juan planted the seed that her 34-page CV must be heavily padded, and her defensiveness only emphasized the point.

Of course the downside is now on redirect JW will spend 2 days going through every line item in her CV except that one. :banghead:

Enjoy your cookies today while JM continues to hammer ALV. It's a thing of beauty to watch the woman who loves to slander Travis shake like a fish just out of water. I have no sympathy for anyone who dares to stand in the way of Justice for Travis. None.

I think if Martians had killed TA ALV would be testifying on behalf of the Martians.

Well, that depends. Are we talking female Martians who did the killing?

Happy Tuesday Everyone. Am looking forward to another day with Juan. I hope we hear more about the manifesto. And I really want to know what was up with the two people that were apparently sworn in at the end of the day yesterday.

I hope ALV doesn't pull a no show. I would not be surprised, it would be a ploy to support the Motions for mistrial claim that his, Nurmi's, witness cannot be effective because of Juan's treatment of her. He is making her sick. IMO

  • #1,238
My favorite part of watching JM question ALV is when he ask her a simple question. She rambles on for a good 2 or 3 minutes about nothing and then he ask her if she is done. After she says yes she is done and he then asks her the same question again. He is so patient and it cracks me up.

  • #1,239
It's probably explained in her manifesto, along with a new and improved theory of relativity and errors she discovered in the big bang theory.

I think Jodi already has enough "Big Bangs" to last a lifetime.

Lolololololol.

The Einstein avatar just made my morning brighter. It's gotta last us all day! Thanks

Perhaps Jodi got a little confused...thinks she's a genius after mastering some of the "Baby Einstein" products
