was the jury there when AVL was talking about the gas cans and mesa?

Yes. The only part the jury missed was the voir dire (I know I didn't spell that even CLOSE to right! LOL!) concerning the police interrogation of JA's father. It apparently will not come in because ALV says she did not have access to it.

I gotta say this ... There were several instances while Samuels was on the stand when I actually felt sorry for him. I find ALV so defensive, combative and condescending and I just don't feel any pity for her when Juan goes all ... Juantastic on her. Maybe I'm a snot. :fence:

She appears to be utterly clueless about how this inconsistency goes against Jodi's credibility regarding the "incident" on Jan 22nd of 2008, where she alleges that Travis kicked and broke her finger. By giving multiple stories (three in fact), this indicates that she has a sinister reason to lie about the bandaged finger injury observed by several people after the murder. That reason of course is that one of the stories can be used to explain away her "broken" finger and therefore destroy her credibility. When she was interrogated on July 15th, she gave the first known story of this "broken" finger, attributing its deformity to a CUT, incurred on June 4th during the murder. This story created for Jodi a serious problem. Two years later, she wanted to attribute it to a fabricated account of physical violence to give her new defense strategy some form of corroboration but her prior story given on July 15th presented her with a conflict.

So she thought up another story for the bandaged finger, switching the finger injury to the right hand and testifying that she received it while picking up glass at Travis's house (she did try to obfuscate it a bit with the healed finger cut on May 30th). But now we learn that she told ANOTHER story about this cut finger to ALV, one that is irreconcilable with the story she gave on the stand. She failed to be consistent with her lies and this further exposes the truth concerning that bandaged finger -- it was indeed the finger on her left hand as she originally implied on July 15th and that her finger deformity did come as the result of a cut that severed her tendon. Why else the lies?

BBM...I dont understand why the state cannot take xrays and or a physician look at this finger. As with fingerprints, hair samples etc...it is a crucial part of this case. Since it is Jodi who is claiming this is abuse by TA couldnt they subpoena an xray of the finger?

I have not had a chance to read or listen to anything today. Bummer. From the
few posts that I did manage to scim (sp???) , looks like ALV is still saying gibberish.
Anything newsworthy?? Thanks

Texts are written messages transmitted by cell phone.

hours, and then I had problems getting online for the last hour. Can anyone tell me if the Manifesto or Einstein's IQ were discussed this morning? The timeline thread isn't updated yet and I prefer the written summaries over having to watch all the videos to catch up. Thanks in advance.

No, neither of them were mentioned this morning.

Can I ask a stupid question? ALV is there to show that JA was a victim of domestic violence, just like RS was there to show that JA had PTSD. Do either of these things have anything to do with whether or not JA killed Travis with premeditation or not? Does it give her an excuse for killing him or wanting him dead? I can see it going both ways. JA was a victim of Travis's abuse and that gave her motivation to want to kill him.
Wouldn't those conditions be more applicable to mitigation after the guilt phase instead of using them to determine guilt? Even if we give the witnesses a pass and say they are 100% correct, how does that change whether or not JA planned the murder in advance or not? Or does it just affect how she should be punished?

The DV is relevant to the question of self-defense--if the defendant suffered DV from the deceased, then the jury can consider her decision to use deadly force from the perspective of a battered woman/person rather than from the perspective of a "reasonable" person.

The PTSD is only relevant IMO to convince the jury that the "fog" is not a lie.

o/t for a second:

I learned last week you can make awesome baked potatoes in a crockpot - instead of the oven or microwave.

Wash the taters, poke holes in them with a fork, wrap them in foil, place them in a crockpot on low for 7-8 hours depending how many you put in and how big the potatoes are.

DH can cook the steaks in 10 minutes on the grill or broiler while I'm busy watching the trial.

Sounds good. Thanks! Baked potatoes with plenty of butter and extra sour cream please. :blushing:

If I were you I'd head over to Youtube and watch what has happened so far, Juan is impeaching ALV's testimony and it's awesome.

I have been recalling a never-married, elderly relative (long deceased now) who was about 85 when she was called as a witness to identify an arsonist who she saw while he was watching the fire from a nearby alley...

Q: Is the man present in the courtroom today?
A: Hell, yes. That guy over there. He was yanking on his d**** outside my Eastern Star meeting.

So... ALV is more old fashioned than my relative (and about 60 years younger)....

I'm old fashioned, what's this "foreplay" I keep hearing kids talk about these days?

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

It's a game you play out in the playground where you get chalk and . . . oh, wait that's four SQUARE. Sorry, I'm just so old-fashioned.

I'm wondering if ALV is planning on retiring soon and needs this money to make that happen. If so she probably doesn't care if she gets more work or not.

  • #235
the biggest bit I got from this morning was that LaV was privy to the premeditation of the murder and even questioned it

  • #236
ya know, I got to thinking..I was wondering just how many of our husbands/life partners, b/friends, g/friends have been eating cold meals since the trial started? lol

its all Jodies fault...:furious:

I do believe we have a recipe thread somewhere to deal with this problem. :) If anyone finds it, I have a 20-minute jambalaya recipe to add.

Yes.
So we have 6 versions now... ?? Correct me if I am wrong..

1. Metal rack at work
2. Broken glass at Margaritaville
3. Broken glass at Travis' in the kitchen
4. Broken glass in tub when bathing Napoleon
5. Ninja did it
6. Cutting apples

The first story concerned a different cut incurred on the 31st that was healed by the time of June 3rd. It was brought up by Nurmi in redirect to obfuscate the issue. It had no relevance whatsoever. Jodi admitted that. What you have marked as number 2 related to number one.

So 4 stories if you count her explanation for the bloody palm print which is directly related to her cut finger.

I'm thinking the manifesto was written in prison.

Everything is always about Jodi.

Therefore, the manifesto is about Jodi in prison.

She sees herself as an Einsteinette capable of pulling off the perfect murder so why not reform the prison system while they are graced with her presence.

In her mind, she will be released and become a world renown artist while writing best selling books in her spare time.

I don't think it was written in prison because she had amy print out 2 copies of the signature page right? So it sounds like it is on the pc. shrug

Alice sure is taking this as Personal. Makes for an unprofessional witness. Not to mention a down right lousy one at that.

On HLN they just showed a very snarky moment of hers. She was trying to defend herself from the accusation Juan made that she missed out on a lot of info because of her 90% of communication is nonverbal statement, and she could not talk to the victim.

So ALV rambles a bit and then says, as she points her fingers AT JUAN, "Just like the people can see with their own eyes what is going on between you and myself as we are here now." [ paraphrasing]

Anyhow, she was VERY pleased with herself after she made that little comment and she seemed to be implying something about the jury being able to tell he was bullying her or something?

Of course then Juan said somethimg like " Maam, I am not concerned with how you feel about the prosecutor, I want to know about your assessment in thjis case.." LOL
