trial day 43: the defense continues its case in chief #131

I had a professor in college that was constantly giving me a noticeably harder time than the other students. It was a very small class, and I was a senior. In fact, I was a senior who got straight A's for the first time ever, except in this guy's class. It was a subjective grade, and since I was graduating, I got up the mojo to confront him on it. His answer was one that I never forgot, and I still find it aggravating to this day. He told me it was because I was the best student in the class. so, I said, why no A? He said, because you could have worked harder, you only did what you had to do to get the grade. It still burns me, because I should have gotten the A since I met all the requirements. Grr.
Why am I telling this? I think it is the same reason that so many TH's go easy on Wilmott and Nurmi and come down hard on Martinez. It's not who is better or worse, it is who is living up to the TH's expectations that they discuss. eiglarsh doesn't expect much from The defense attorneys, and doesn't get much, so he doesn't have a reason to complain. he expects a lot from Martinez, and apparently thinks that JM can do even better.

My professor told me I ought to feel complimented. I told him I would trade the damn compliment for an A anyday.

I think she sees herself as being bullied. She's wrong, but I very much think that is how she perceives the situation.

No doubt. Hence her entourage to cheer her on and cater to her. She obviously sees herself as a heroic champion for the abused and is so saintly that she will subject herself to abuse just to help an abuse victim. She is so noble and being so ill treated by that awful man, Martinez. Trouble is, she likely truly believes in her moral superiority and is completely incapable of imagining any smidgen of sympathy or concern for the murdered victim just because of his gender.

Also, I honestly don't think I've seen or even heard of, an "expert", an alleged "professional" who needs a personal support system in order to render her "expert" testimony. What is she, 12?

ALV infuriates me in her attempt to make JM out to be idiotic and how ( just like JA ) when asked for a yes or no, she deliberately won't use either of those answers. Her corky looking smile drives me up the wall also. I want to hear him ask her what is so funny considering this is about a young man who was slaughtered by Jodie Arias. The same person she felt obligated to apologize to and buy gifts for her.

I think so too, and I think the key word there is have. She literally wanted him to be hers. It wasn't like normal people in normal relationships, which clearly she is incapable of... she didn't want to be with him and be his partner, his equal, his lover. She wanted to possess him. Now she thinks she is rewriting his legacy. ENTER: Juan and Team Travis.... She and her lies will be silenced and buried. Travis gets the last word.

She would be reduced to jello and her supportive gal pals would get so worked into a frenzy they would finally be banished from the courtroom. (where they belong)
I mean really, do YOU take YOUR friends to work for emotional support? It makes her role in this case seem a bit more personally focused rather than professional.
ie: Hate all abusin' men! Rally the men hatin' troops! Female power! Let's go get em, girls! All for one, one for all!

Exactly, and I think ALV identifies with JA because she has the same qualitities. That's one of the reasons she will never admit that JA is anything but an angel.

Wasn't today just the BEST day yet in this trial? Juan got so much info out in the open for the jury.
I'm so exhausted from this day- almost as if I was the one trying to get a Yes or No out of AL, instead of JM-LOL.
Thanks for all the great posts today. Seems that AL wasn't given the most important info from the DTs, but she's still responsible to get ALL the info. I think she sounds a little naïve to me, don't you think - not that lets her off the hook. I have to get some rest. Hope to see another good day in the AM with Juan (how does he do it- he's so intelligent and remembers everything.)

Yeah that was pretty exhausting! To witness and frustrating. Jodie acted up a lot even telling wilmott when to object, she's sure taken control, her behaviour is REALY getting more out there.

I'm not sure how it can be said she was duped. She certainly had the option to require access to people potentially involved in Jodi's life as part of her agreement to take the case! But evidently, she still agreed to take this on, even when "told" she wouldn't be permitted to speak to any living human being other than Jodi. That the defense team withheld access to jodi's parents, siblings, co-workers, former boyfriends, etc. should've been the cue for ALV to exit stage left - but she did not. That's on her, it's always been HER prerogative to back out.

Why she didn't is anyone's guess, but it may have had something to do with her book coming out soon or the notoriety. Either way, she's got no one to blame for this disaster but herself.

Travis was HER perfect storm. None of us is ever going to know exactly why JA was so obsessed but for starters... HE was successful, smart, handsome, religious and everybody liked him. SHE was not successful, thought she was smart, was pretty on the outside but so ugly on the inside and used religion for gain as in gain Travis. God, Travis never saw her coming and when he actually did see the real her it was too damn late. She is Pure Evil.

What makes you think JA was obsessed with TA? I guess everybody has a definition of "successful". TA worked for PPL, did not have a college education. Not sure if JA would have ever heard of the Mormon church had it not been for TA..HE was the one that told her of his Book of Mormon..HE baptized her. I don't see how JA used TA for religion for gain as you say.
