Did you notice that when JM was questioning her with the jury out of the room she didn't seem to have that problem? Answered all questions without any of her antics. And on two occasions, when she thought she had him riled up enough, she actually called him out in front of the jury. "Are you angry at me Mr Martinez?" and "If you were in my group I'd put you in a timeout". I'm sure she was hoping he would snap and throw something at her LOL. Which fits in with the defense motion for a mistrial about prosecutorial misconduct due to JM's "abuse" of the witnesses and his throwing a pen and disparaging the defense team.

When I watch this trial with ALV on the stand, I'm inclined to believe this whole defense was her idea and planning, and that she's continuing to have input. She's got JA's story down better than JA herself, as we saw today with the conflicting information, but can't seem to remember anything else. JA parroted words that ALV uses too. No coincidence that ALV showed up in 2010when JA was convinced to change her story by Nurmi and Samuels IMO. I bet after she read all those journals and "collateral" evidence she had a nice plan for them all.

I think I remember JA saying in testimony that she used sex to "Quell Travis's Anger and Wrath"...

Did anyone feel that ALV was 'discrediting' RS testimony by saying that tests are subjective, and that if someone is stressed it can show up the same as crazy, etc. She even implied that while they are supposed to detect lying they are not full proof... JW just kept letting her talk away

My pleasure really, Raine, I have an immensely deep respect for posters who ask questions about intimate partner violence to clarify or learn more - or even to satisfy their curiosity. There are a lot of peeps in the world who make erroneous assumptions or jump to conclusions - often based on their own biases, with or without hypotheticals. And obviously some even get paid to do it! :floorlaugh:

I also wanted to add though, despite LaViolette's testimony to the contrary, very few abuse victims and survivors I know and advocates I'm familiar with would ever suggest elements of abusive behaviors which many people are guilty of, me included, (like calling a spouse a name or sending a text message in a moment of anger) are indicative of an abusive relationship on their own - it, almost by definition, has to be a relationship in which a series of abusive behaviors are utilized to establish and maintain control of the victim. Fewer still would state that abuse and stalking either exist, or don't, based on the response or reaction of the victim. That attitude is just revolting. And some won't even use identifying particles like 'him' and 'her' - they keep it to abuser and victim purposely.

They also don't see victims everywhere either but they do, very often, know when they do. Assuming they aren't afflicted with rigid and archaic, gender-biased, definitions of what constitutes and causes intimate partner violence, of course.

(The domestic violence expert is making me feel as though I have to defend domestic violence advocates, survivors, victims, and abuse itself. Not a good sign, methinks.) I'm gonna go crash too...goodnight all you more compassionate and better informed experts on intimate partner violence then the one getting paid! :blowkiss:

I totallly agree but...whether this happened or not lets suppose it did how can this make TA look like a bad guy if she never said no....or even she said she was uncomfortable. I still dont get where the abuse lies...what I am missing here..

I think Jodi's post-murder sexual encounter with Ryan Burns is her typical getting-to-know-you mo. She settled atop him to sleep, she "adjusted" him, he described her actions as "very aggressive"... he was the one who stopped things from progressing further and iirc this was the first time they'd been alone together. She was similarly assertive with Travis, if not more so.

I've no doubt that JA wrote things in her journal knowing that others would read it, her writings were purposely crafted to elicit emotions from those she targeted, just another facet of her manipulation, tricks and games she played. She thinks herself so smart, not.

ITA Why else would she write in them wondering who killed Travis.

JA is a sexual deviant..period. Just ask her former friend DB, if you can nail him down. She sneaked up on him in the shower and started snapping pics. He wasn't happy about that.

She coached TA into her web. He was the one who was abused. I think that he had no intention of ever visiting her in CA. He was starting to learn how to handle her. He would pay her compliments and tell her w/e he thought she needed to hear to keep her at bay. At some level, this was self-preservation.

I don't believe she was invited to his home that day. IF he had sex with her, it was done to calm her down, as she is the one who needed the sex every time she got nervous/antsy/irritable. Sex was a drug to JA and Travis was her dealer.

Before I make a comment about this, I have a question -- did ALV ever define what she means by stalking? Is she talking about the definition of a criminal offense or "stalking" as the word is just commonly used or what?
