Good morning all! Got to study before the trial, but a quick note on ALV:

I think she has likely been competent evaluating and treating those who have been truly been abused. But, I get the feeling she has never experienced a sociopath such as JA before, and she has finally come to grips with the fact that she got duped--either by JA's ability to manipulate, or by her own failure to connect the dots. That seems clear given the change in her demeanor since she first began testifying.

So, in one respect, I do feel for her if she truly believed JA was abused, given the limited evidence that the DT gave her. On the other hand, it's hard to believe that she didn't have the wherewithal to access the abundance of premeditation evidence that exists, or all of the other collateral evidence that makes it pretty clear that JA is a serial liar and master manipulator. Maybe it's simply a case of accepting a case that was a bit too outside her skill set.

IDK, I guess I am torn. But, if I could prove she lied about "misspeaking" about the pedo computer/analogue pic thing, then I would definitely have to rewrite this post.:twocents:
I agree with so much of your post. For me, her largest 'sin' of sorts is stating that a victim's reaction defines abuse. I think that has the potential to have a ripple effect on intimate partner violence that concerns me greatly.

I cannot believe, knowing what I do, that she doesn't see evidence to support the controlling nature of an abuser within Jodi's actions alone. I am forced to the conclusion she is willingly choosing to ignore it. That said, I very much appreciate Frigga's insight. A DV advocate not being compassionate and comprehensive of the dynamics of abuse itself is wholly at odds with my familiarity.

I personally believe she's likely encountered many psychopaths in her career though. There is a very strong, very well established, link between domestic abuse and psychopathy. However, seeing it in a female when one has seen it only in males previously could account for her not being 'sensitive' to it.

Still, I disagree with her conclusion vehemently - but I also couldn't and wouldn't wish stalking, harassment, threats, intimidation and the subsequent terror and helplessness of anxiety attacks on anyone.

She is under a subpoena to testify, I assume. So, I would think that would be contempt of court, she cannot just quit.

With all this chaos of this trial I think it's a good idea to focus on the good things.

I am grateful that Lady Justice has given us the accidental photos of Travis being butchered. It's painful but will ensure that the person who did it will sit on death row.
I am grateful that we have Juan Martinez fighting for Justice. I don't think there is a better prosecutor out there.
I am grateful that thanks to the kindness and goodness of people (many of them from Websleuths) that Travis' loved ones are receiving support in many ways.
I am grateful that we are close to rebuttal.
I am grateful for Websleuths, all those who work hard to keep it running and all the members on here. It's much easier to deal with this trial with all of you around.

Good morning rose, you have a way of bringing everything back into focus, right back to the center, thank you for that :-)

Why the heck is Alyce going back into chambers AGAIN? This trend is getting so ridiculous.

Let's just get on with this trial already and get it over with so everyone can go home. JJeessshhhhhhh.

Prediction: Questions from the jury for AL

1.Why do you have such difficulty answering "yes or no" questions?
2. Did you ever ask Jodi what she might have done to incur Travis' "wrath" as evidenced in the text messages?
3. Why didn't you speak to Travis' family and friends about his relationship with the defendant?
4. Why didn't you speak to the defendant's family about her past behavior regarding lying? How do you know she only started lying after the murder?
5. Have you ever changed your mind about a domestic violence case after being presented with additional evidence?

I thinik this is one statement that will stay with me long after this trial is over. Totally condescending and so wrong...

Telling the prosecutor in a capital murder case to take a time out should be grounds for contempt of court.. I can't believe this Judge didn't take her to task over that.

It was a fatwa and not a jihad. Sorry. It's hard enough not to be a grammar cop, but I couldn't let this go. I guess this makes me a vocab cop. It's a sickness....

If we forgive you, beeshie, does it become a mute point?.......sorry :blushing:

if they are both in there, maybe due to ALV approaching and saying something to her the other day?

My wishlist:

  • Jodi is forced to have her hand x-rayed and examined by a hand surgeon
  • The next witness doesn't require endless meetings in chambers: make it short and sweet!
  • Juan brings in the shelves and has a Jodi-twin step on them and break them
  • Jodi's Manifesto is presented in court
  • The stalking/tire slashing is brought up again
  • Proof of forgery on the journals is presented (proof that she wrote the entries in question AFTER the crime)
  • An expert in pedophilia testifies the unlikelihood of a pedophilic man attracted to prepubescent boys would pursue such a healthy interest in adult women.

Just try to think, if you wouldn't say it to your grandma, probably shouldn't say it here. :)

Well, my grandmother cursed like a sailor, God love her.

About this 'gun'.

To even force yourself into believing Travis had a gun is almost an impossible feat. Why didn't anyone know about this gun? Not even his roommates (who were in potential danger with a firearm in the house) knew. Nor his best friend, Chris And Jodi even admitted Travis didn't own a gun. The fact that she re-invented it speaks for itself.

No one is likely to keep a gun for protection (because it wasn't for fun or for hunting seeing he couldn't carry it anywhere without a permit WHICH...he didn't have) and keep it far from reach on top of some closet.

What purpose is it serving up there? That's like buying a spare tire then...leaving it in your garage. Placing it somewhere where it's not useful is fruitless. Unless of course we're to believe Travis expected to catch burglars in his closet one day!! The whole gun-the-closet theory is ridiculous.

A .25 calibre won't buy any protection...just saying.

To those that criticize JM, I say this:

He gives a voice to those that no longer have one.
He gives a voice to those that remain who have endured pain, loss and suffering.

He may use any tone he chooses as it represents the outrage many survivors feel. I don't care if his critics like it or not.

His words empower those who feel they have none. His love of justice is palpable. He chooses to right the wrongs where possible, to the extent they can be. JMV

Great post! And, I wanted to add that he seems to have such a kind tone outside of the trial, almost humble. I am referring to the clip of him signing that woman's cane. He sounded so sincere and kind. Also, he is polite. imo
