The ninja story was abandoned in 2010 after Samuels indicated he didn't believe her ninja story. Alyce didn't meet her until 2011.

When was ALV consulted and then retained for this case though? I thought she had said 2010 when she first got up on the stand but I could be wrong about that. She testified that she had already read the journals (and perhaps all of the other "collateral information"?) before actually meeting JA didn't she? And how, as a paid "expert witness", at $300 per hour being paid by the state, is she allowed to get up on the stand and not be able to even give the dates of when she met with JA because she doesn't have any of her own paperwork with her? Even Samuels did that with his rolling briefcase. At least he was prepared, even if it did end up backfiring on him.

Maybe that's why ALV is not bringing anything up there? Afraid JM will get a hold of something he shouldn't?

I do feel that the judge is prejudicial towards the defense. When asking some of the more probing questions of ALV that have a slant towards supporting the prosecution, she looks disgusted and a few times she actually seemed to slam the offensive question down on her desk. Anyone else pick up on this?

I truly got the sense that Judge Stevens didn't really care much for ALV. Just my female intuition:twocents:

Some would say that the help and intervention would be HIS GRANDPARENTS stepped in and raised him - and that he routinely attended church from that point, on. ALV doesn't consider being displaced to grandparents and spiritual healing as help OR intervention? Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Also, his church community and support would definitely help him overcome and handle his past IMO.

Blackmail is beyond exaggeration, no offense, but there is no way that would happen. That is sensationalism brought about by the media. Where is the proof that it has effected this jury in any way? Just look at the other sire and watch the Juan bashing continue.

It's disgusting.

I was responding to another poster, read both. The poster seemed to feel the state should have accepted JA's plea to 2nd murder because of the unsubtle threat to drag TA and others through the mud. I was asking if she felt the state should capitulate to blackmail.

Catching up right now watching NG. Wow! Donovan, Jodi's friend, admits she has been taking Jodi's words and tweeting them. But they have nothing to do with the trial...........uh huh

The day it looked like Jodi was shooting the bird, "It was Jodi pushing up her glasses" per Donovan. At the time of Donavan's answer they showed Jodi's hand and finger under her chin and sheepishly pushing that one finger out. Her hand was nowhere near her glasses. The tweet of shooting the bird to Nancy Grace was a joke...... uh huh

The tweet about short man syndrome was in no way describing Juan - per Donovan....... uh huh

I think this backfired on Donovan and Jodi. Donovan said she was getting overwhelmed with calls and threats (I think that is what I heard).

Maybe I'm just naive, but the whole "double life" nonsense is just a bit too far-fetched for me. Really, a grown 30 year old man's whole world will crumble if his friends/church mates found out he had had sex? Seriously? In my experience, there's nothing church-going individuals love more than a "back-slider" that they can help reform! Prepare the casseroles! Goodness, I've always seen church members rally around people who have sinned in an attempt to bring them back into the fold, not shun them and take away their livelihoods! Hate the sin, love the sinner and all that jazz.

My bottom line? She drove a thousand miles to kill him and intentionally left no trail in an attempt to get away with it.

So far the Jury Q?'s are kinda iffy...pro and con Ja....

You have to keep in mind the questions are being read in the order they were submitted.
The witness was on direct for 6 days with Willmott.

The DT should not even recross this witness. The ship has sailed getting the jury to believe ALV. Get this witness off the stand!!

This post reminded me of the juror question about JA being a liar. AVL tries to say JA only lied after the murder and then goes on to explain that people often lie when they are conflicted about something they have done, that they don't want to believe they did something that is so diametrically opposed to their values - or some drivel like that. (respectfully snipped)

This reminds me - didn't she say something like, "she lied because she was scared," because if so...

She is on on trial for MURDER, facing the DEATH PENALTY, she's not scared NOW? If she is scared that she has to spend the rest of her life in jail, at the minimum, or get the death penalty, at the maximum, wouldn't she STILL be lying to get away with it? Their logic is hard to swallow.

Oh, I'm sure he'd have had a lot of company in that particular category anyway.

I would have to go back and check but I believe she said that she met/interviewed JA for the first time in Oct 2011?

Has anyone noticed that in the pictures of JA as a teen and in her mugshot that TigerBalm has, that JA has the exact same expression and tilt of her head? WOW -
that many years difference in age and her expression/head tilt is the same.

All reference to Travis being taken in and raised by his grandparents at eight years of age has been conveniently left out of LaViolette's testimony.

Yes, she probably learned from the books given to her by Samuels and probably her attorneys. I do think Alyce was duped.

Minor, I always enjoy your insightful posts, but this is one time I disagree.

Look at the post directly below your, by VALee. It asks what brought on that angry text message from Travis on May 26th.

This has become practically a ritual for people who post here. ALL OF US want to know what led up to that text. Why didn't ALV? Did she just not ask? Or does she know the answer and she discards it? Or did she ask and, when the DT said they didn't know or wouldn't tell her, did she shrug and forget about it?

thanks :seeya:, but we must remember she stated she only saw what the defense gave her.

Ignorance is not an excuse, especially if you pass yourself off as an Expert.

The very fact that Jodi claims she was fearful for her safety but was willing to go along on the "panning for gold" trip shows she is very aggressive and quite capable of taking car of herself. This is not someone with low self-esteem.
I so wish a juror had asked about that too! That's very atypical a victim coming out of an abusive relationship.

An extreme example is a woman I knew before I moved that couldn't even allow females to hug her because it provoked an immediate anxiety attack but many victims have difficulty initially with same-gendered peeps as their abusers unless they know them well, much less trusting them. Going alone on a camping trip with 6 guys you don't know well, after 'seeing what men could do', makes absolutely not a lick of any kind of logical sense to me.

I keep picturing myself, since it is about lawn mowing time again, driving across my po-dunk small town with my little gas can all nervous it will spill. Then, I think of Jodi...all manic, driving across the desert with 15 gallons of gas in the trunk, talking and screaming to herself in the hot, summer desert heat....plotting murder, if Travis doesn't take her to Cancun and marry her!
