I so wish someone would ask ALV what abuse JA had to escape from.
SHe was in CA and TA was in AZ. They were apart - what is there to escape????

If this has already been discussed, I am sorry for bringing it up again.

BBM.

Posess it? I'll give her 50 bucks if she can spell it!

The feminine DeMarte will connect better with the men on the jury.

I'm glad the defense went with the pedophile thing because it reveals the total weakness of the case and I think that factor will be a major influence on the penalty that is given.

I keep trying to get in the heads of the defense attorneys and figure out what they were thinking or how they were trying to piece together this self defense claim. When they rehearsed the trial and played it out in their minds before it got started, it must have looked much different to them. I think they believed that the pedophile thing would have a strong impact and prejudice the jury against Travis. I have to believe that the defense attorneys got so locked into their client's BS that they lost perspective on how totally absurd this would come across to real people in the real world.

I honestly think that they looked at the success of the sexual abuse allegations in the CA case and tried to adapt the same principle to this case.

Hear me later. If she does get the DP, she will hail to the universe that it's what she wanted anyway. Her mental state cannot concede that she doesn't get what she wants. Admission that she isn't always in control or that she doesn't get what she wants is in unfathomable to her.

Something to the effect of "I prefer death, oh the selfless victim that I am!"

Not in the least. He knows hes gonna win. I bet he throws out objections during his dreams while he sleeps at night.

I enjoyed a part when he objected like three times in a row when ALV was going into one of her long-winded explanations in response to a juror question.

ALV would start, JM objects and ALV stops...it was like he was just doing it to mess with her. Funny stuff.

Correct! OTOH, the texts/emails where TA threatened to expose JA to friends, parents etc. and the ensuing murder, points more to the fact that JA was the abuser with the "double life" ie: her "craziness".

Precisely.

As I was listening to Alyce's testimony I kept thinking she was just providing the jury with more and more motive for Jodi to commit murder.

AVL answered she got most of her information regarding Travis from his close friends.

Morning!!

I was quoting the answer AVL gave to the jury question (which is bolded).

You are correct about AVL giving different answers to similar questions.

My point was = why didn't AVL interview any of Travis's friends? She took the word of the Hughes in answering this jury question.

One of ALV's answers in response to the "what did she attempt to learn about Travis" jury question was she learned info about Travis by watching 48 Hours Mystery. She probably felt she learned everything she needed to know about Travis' friends from 48 Hours Mystery as well. Cha ching $300/hour for that in depth research.

I guess I'm even more old fashioned than Ms. LaViolette. In my day, it was called 'discretion' when men didn't broadcast to the world that they were being intimate with a woman, and it was considered gentlemanly conduct.

'Discretion is the better part of valour.'

Still is, as far as I'm concerned.

Good point!

My only guess? Those awful and terrible texts from TA and then the guilt. It never occured to her to change phone numbers, not answer the calls whatever to get away.

Just not believable that she had to drive 1000 miles to talk to him and then ended up killing him in self defense.

The only thing she was trying to escape was her life in CA. The life she wanted was in AZ.

I have to believe that the defense attorneys got so locked into their client's BS that they lost perspective on how totally absurd this would come across to real people in the real world.

Also the pedophile allegation is even weaker as they try to paint TA as a pedophile that liked little girls, likes little boys, abuses women and enjoys kinky sex with adult women, enjoys anal sex... And on and on..and yet JA still continued to see him, no other evidence from anyone besides JA to corroborate any of the allegations.

I think they couldnt edit themselves down with the Travis trashing..the varied allegations water down the others. Most pedos like either boys or girls and wouldnt go out of their way to have kinky sex with JA.

If TA didnt like the sex with JA she would have been out of his life long ago. Why else would he put up with her?

This has been discussed many times, but perfectly fine to bring up this point again.

As it's this along with so many other factors that make this clearly premeditation IMO

They have not tied it together at all IMO, and that's why I brought up the point.

I understand the concept that an abusive man who has a lot at stake if he secret life is revealed ..may become more abusive when threatened. But that concept has not been linked at all to anything that happened between Jodi and Travis and has certainly not been correlated to anything that happened on June 4

It's because nobody understands domestic violence. The Defense doesn't even understand their own case. Alyce tried to explain it from the stand but it went right over everyone's head.

Twenty years ago a therapist told me men express guilt as anger. It went right over my head. I had no idea what he was talking about.

But, that's the key. That is why domestic violence escalates. The more the man leads the double life, the more guilt he feels, the more guilt he feels, the more he acts it out as anger, the more he acts it out as anger, the more guilt he feels. IT'S LIKE A SNAKE EATING ITS TAIL.

That is why Alyce said on the stand--it is ok to feel anger, but it's what you do when you feel that emotion that is the problem. And, she pointed out that Travis anger, as demonstrated in the texts, was now over the top as RAGE, and not only that, but a rage which was not quickly abating.

There's a lot going on here, and nobody seems to be getting it, including the DT.

IMO

ALV: "Hi Jodi, First I would like to apologize to you right off the bat. So sorry to intrude on your personal life. But here are some books to familiarize yourself with DV. If you think you can fit your story to the info in these books, I can probably keep your guilty-*** off death row. Have a read and see if you can make it fit. We will discuss strategy on our next visit." *wink, *nod

I didn't send a bomb but I sure left a nasty voicemaiil for Sheriff Joe about JA's phone priviledges!! I know she has rights but I felt she abused them with her evil tweets and someone needs to think twice about what she can do from behind bars!

And wasn't Jodi quick to try and blame the jail for her not getting lunch, trying to get them into trouble with the judge (or so she thought), that Nurmi stood in front of the judge and complained that Ms. Arias needs to leave at exactly 4:30 every afternoon so she can get back to the jail in time for dinner. As if we are to believe that she had a special escort to the jail, all by herself, and did not ride back to jail with other prisoner's who were also in court that day. Yesterday she sat there and as the deputy tried to get her to leave she refused and sat down while he stood beside her. She continued to sit there doing nothing in particular for about 7 minutes while her attorneys were up at the sidebar with the judge obviously just chatting, laughing so it's hard to believe it was something Jodi had to be updated on. There did not seem to be a worry about getting her dinner on time yesterday?
