She is a perfect example of an expert witness. I could listen to her for hours. I know the glaring difference between her and ALV and RS is not lost on the jury.

Now after hearing how she performs her testing and scores it, Dr. Samuels seems 100 times more skeevy. He fills in her answers by hand? I think he even said he scored it by hand? Congrats to the defense on finding the most unprofessional expert witnesses ever. Nice job.

Yeah that whole thing with how he scored the tests blew out my hinky meter. Asking her the questions, writing answers himself on a legal pad? then transferring them to the bubble sheet?? Then scoring by hand??? Then REDOING IT later by himself?!?!?!! SO SO Strange. I always wondered if he was trying to save money by not using the real bubble sheet or an entire test kit or something, aside from possibly skewing the results.

I bet JM wants to jump right into JD's arms after this morning's testimony. That would be a super cute picture.

I wonder if ALV really stayed in the courtroom today instead of going home. Maybe she's going to have dinner with JW & Nurmi tonight to help them come up with more BS for a cross.

I'm coming in late this afternoon ........ :seeya: Hello Everybody :seeya:

I thought ALV was suppose to be in court today. I thought the judge gave her Monday or Tuesday.

****The Prosecution Expert Witness is really doing great****

She can and I heard she was. That's gotta' sting!!!

In fact, I heard she was actually in the courtroom but I never saw a photo or video of her.

This DEmarte shows that while Ms. Laviolette is great in lecturing about domestic violence and conducting group therapy, she has no business evaluating anyone. Her business itself renders her supremely biased and she lacks the training or education to be able to conduct a valid assessment.

So we have a marriage and family counselor who lectures about domestic violence, counsels abusers and appears very, defensively biased against men, or towards viewing women as victims, and a Dr. who conducted shoddy, suspect testing, gifted books to his test subject, and was befuddled, defensive and disorganized, unable to provide raw data to back up his opinion, versus a collected, organized Ph.D., who can immediately provide the raw data to back up her opinion, whose training and education support her ability to evaluate the subject and whose testing protocols are clearly objective, and appropriate.

I wonder who wins?
Ironically though, Dr. Karp (who didn't testify) has actually given her expert opinion in another battered person's defense which makes it even more powerful, imo, that in this case she didn't.

(For those curious, she's a Tucson-based psych well-acquainted with the legal realms, it would seem. I can't find her bio but she co-wrote 'Domestic Torts: Family Violence, Conflict and Sexual Abuse' - and she's referenced and cited in 'Battered Women & Feminist Lawmaking' by Elizabeth Schneider.) I love Google. Not as much as our new psych witness, but close. ;)

JM does not seem to have a problem moving along today. Oh, forgot, he has a cooperate, articulate witness today.

Amazing how fast the pace is now that we have intelligent and non-aggressive witnesses, huh?

rose222, maybe you could answer a question I have given what you have posted above. Would Juan's mention of the MMPI during Dr. Samuels testimony count as an issue already raised--i.e., his addressing of the MMPI today with Dr. DM is not a new issue for "surrebuttal" :please::please::please:

I was thinking about this too. I'm not sure and I hope one of our lawyers will chime in but my guess is that since RS administered a psychological test in order to diagnose PTSD the door is open to other kinds of psychological testing by the state.

Wow, I am really impressed by Dr. D! She's doing a great job! She's totally the antithesis of the DT's "experts". She's precise, prepared and extremely intelligent.

Well done JM!!

I posted this late in the last thread: Can this witness give her opinion on whether someone can be sexually attracted to young boys AND young girls AND adult women? Because I would really like to see that addressed.

Would we need a different witness or different type of witness?

I really am not interested in hearing about that but I would like to know if JA is the type to lie about such serious claims.

Is that another aggressive blame game of JAs? I think so.

Steelergirl...are you using Safari Browser? I found this youtube instructional on opening multiple active tabs on the iPad. Hope it helps.

Open Multiple Pages w/ Tabs in Safari for iPad - YouTube

Learn how using Tabs to open new pages in Safari (iOS 5) will make your iPad web browsing much more easy and efficient.

I am soooo far behind the time. What's an Ipad? :floorlaugh: I do have a very sophisticated hamster powered back up system just in case the desk top crashes though.:hills:

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I am pages behind watching on HLN but all this internal rage I think Jodi is having will probably lead to one of her migraines.

Juan's cross-examination strategy and techniques go over the head of many of his critics (e.g., talking heads on any number of HLN programs) too. I laugh when they criticize him for being "unprepared" (NOT) or suggest that he'd be more effective if he stood at the lecturn and read questions from a legal pad. Another pet peeve is the suggestion that he wastes time and should just move on. While anyone can get lost in the "weeds" on occasion, it's rare that he asks a question without a purpose.

Just remember that these TH morons are told by their producers which "opinion" they are to take & then they just act it out. They don't think for themselves, they are just props in a scene.

The guilty verdict & DP sentencing will be Juan's grade. You can't "grade" someone in the middle of trial--the grade is the result.

They make me so angry, I quit watching TV a long time ago!!:furious:

It's hilarious when they call JM egotistical--look at them! JMOO

She did more in 12 hours than both Samuel and ALV in their many many wasted hours with the defendant.

IMO

Ain't it something? If ALV were giving this testimony there would have been 3 hours of talking about personality and what it means and how it affects our lives.

I am so impressed with the rebuttal so far...and it just started!! This witness has already made the DT expert witnesses look like complete incompetents. MOOO

If this is what he is pulling for the first witness, I can't wait to see what he's saving for last!

I was watching Wilmott, she has not looked directly at this witness as far as I can see, but keeps her head down even if she's not writing. JA appears to be busy with her scribblings, not wanting to look as if she's paying attention at all. They're not chatting now!

So far Dr. DeMarte has only gone over the tests that Jodi took, answering the questions herself, i.e. we haven't heard anything from this expert so far that's subjective. Yet, already it's damning.

BBM- and it would be wise for JM to keep it that way. If her testimony is completely objective, it limits what the DT can try to attack.

Right now it would be the standard practice attacking of her credentials. She has also impugned the testimony of the DT's experts, so this will come under questioning from the DT. Since she did not offer her own opinion, but rather stated that Dr. S and ALV had used invalid methods to reach their conclusions, the DT should also founder with this questioning.

JW kept objecting when JM referred to Samuels as Mr. Samuels instead of Dr. Samuels; the implication was that JM was trying to diminish the qualifcations of the expert, yet JM keeps referring to his own expert as Ms. instead of Dr.

I think the defense grabbed what they could. And it shows. There wasn't much choice there.

I am disappointed that a leal team can stoop so low as to hire so called experts who will lie to get a confessed murderer off. Their actions say a lot about society as a whole and it makes me very sick. They can excuse it by saying they are representing their client but there is no excuse. Not now. Not ever.
