Look at the legal thread. The attorney there says defense gets no surrebuttal.

Man, I hope that's right. It finally feels like we're almost done. I wanna be done!

He didn't have time since HLN is so behind on the trial, he is still playing trial footage... 10:00 pm est... :banghead:

Thank you :) I also thought he seemed a bit subdued. I know he has family in the New England area. I pray all that he knows and loves are ok. Something just feels off tonight.

Me too LotusPrint. :seeya: Sometimes I just have to walk away, even if I miss something.

I skipped out on most of ALV's direct. The few times I tuned in, I sat in my car in the parking lot at the beach and listened on Sirius radio. Small doses and then strolled the beach. Gotta make it tolerable where you can!

Ha! I think Jodi is a perfect example of how the 'law of attraction' does jack cr** unless you work your butt off in a positive direction at the same time (and really it's the working not the magical thinking that's helping). For all Jodi's solid determination to 'think positive things .. ' and all the rest of it, she ended up broke, broken up, having murderous thoughts, and now in jail and on a trial where her best hope is to save her life.

How's that working for ya Jodi?

Remember the sweat lodge guy? Didn't he promote the law of attraction? Look where it got him....

Did Dr. Drew already do his 'jurors'? And was his behavior bureau only shown once? I admit I have been doing other things but tonight's show seems way different than normal...
I don't think he had them on. Also didn't see Katie (one of his jurors) in the courtroom.

My mother's got BPD, and it's NOT nothing. It's very real and very debilitating for those who suffer the disorder, as well as those close to them. It's horrific, and I take great offense to your comment. People should really educate themselves about mental illness.

Please, please do not take offense. I am trying to relay my ignorance on the subject so that someone who knows all about it can speak in simple terms so the rest of us can understand. It is like cancer. You hear about it, but unless it strikes you or someone you love, you just carry on not knowing the terminology and here we are discussing the case and not understanding the terms. I am sorry but I do not have the time to research all the latest diseases and understand the terms. In no way would I ever want to offend you or anyone who has this illness.

So If Jodi has this, are you also saying she is just sick and is to be pitied? See, I believe she is just EVIL.

She didn't say that. Dr. D said she could feel compassion and be unbaised.

And THAT'S how a professional shows compassion! She doesn't insert herself into a client's personal life, prompting a personal, familiar relationship. If your job is to collect data, then you collect data. You don't become personally INVOLVED in a patient's life! That's ABUSIVE.

I see a doctor on a regular basis. We don't sit around and jaw for 44 hours and he doesn't send me presents. He acts like a doctor.

Is that a foreign concept to JW & Co?

Did anyone catch that Jodi gave the finger to Dr. DeMarte today?

I am watching Croakerqueen Day 48 Part 3 on Youtube. (Had to work all day so am catching up.) It is clear as day but very quick.

Jodi glares at Dr. DeMarte, grabs her glasses and flips her the bird as she is putting them on. Start at about 36:10 and watch carefully. It is right about 36:18.

If you eagle eyes already caught it, just ignore me.:seeya:

I hear ya with the ADD ! :rocker:

My A.D.D. sometimes gets the best of me and that patch of (? or lack of ?) hair has been distracting me for the last month!:blushing:

I think I absolutely loathe HLN. I can't stand that it took from 11am cst to 9pm to see today's trial coverage. Is there a nonstop coverage online or iPad app that's free without all the dang commercials and pauses? Please let me know if there is something better than HLN. I'm so done with them. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes, yes. But there are many psychopaths who don't commit murder and many more borderlines who hurt themselves more than those around them too. It's a gray area because disordered people are just as different and varied as 'healthy' ones.

In reality, the jury has only heard borderline, PTSD, and battered person's syndrome - and each has been more than adequately explained even if not proven. Psychopathy has never been mentioned in court, to my knowledge - apart from Travis' text referencing sociopathy. No assessments for psychopathy have been administered either.[/QUOTE]

Kate---that's not true.
Speaking just to PCL-R and PPI-R, though I should have been clearer. Were those done? I'd missed it. Obviously. Sorry for adding to the confusion.

I wonder what JW will find to attack Dr D on other then her youth and relative inexperience, which I don't think is working out as well as she thought it would. She is very knowledgeable and not at all arrogant or defensive. She knows her stuff and has a lot of confidence in her knowledge.

If you don't have impressive things to put on a CV sure you put lectures.

If you do have impressive things they go first. Personal/Marital/Family, then Education, then Post Edu (Fellow, Intern, Masters/Phd, M.D.) Awards such as Pulitzer Prize :-) hey if you got one, list it.. Published Peer Reviewed Studies, Books you Authored (real books we can buy) Books you wrote Chapters in if the Book is significant (again, you might have put a Chapter in a book thats not even as impressive as a Research Study you did, its up to you to list it) THEN maybe, just maybe Lectures. If they are notable? If you were the featured speaker at the White House hosted by the U.S. Health Committee on Borderline Personality Disorder and how to spot it in your waitress or World Health Organization and you were the headliner on Vaccines & the relation to Autism well crap, put that baby down!

If you list Lecture after Lecture for pages on how to spot depression, when to seek help, when to suspect you have two personalities, when to suspect you have two personalities..you just look like you filled it with lesser quality items. The Surgeon I update the CV for lectures nearly once a month.. Once a month x 18 years is over 260 lectures. Um, no I am not typing them out in the cv.

I thought this was a brilliant day for the Prosecutor

Mods please remove this if inappropriate! I have good intentions behind it :seeya:
I was googling pics of Janeen Demarte to compare to JA and I came across a picture when she was a bit younger and it said athlete profile at UMASS, sooo I clicked the link.. Says she is from Texas! Also gives her birthday, maybe that is why JW asked if she was born yet in 1980.

Awesome! Such an accomplished woman. You know someone is jealous.

:D

What was Jodi doing during court all day? She never looked at the witness. Instead it appeared that she was copying material from a book, writing onto another sheet. Anyone know I watched all day and couldn't figure it out.

watching the beginning of "After Dark" on HLN. Something just struck me as very humerous in one of the clips from Jodi's previous testimony.

She is the only person I know who would drive a million miles out of the way to get cheaper gas. LMAO
Just kidding of course, but her answers just scream out as lying on some of those excuses she gave on the gas cans.

I don't even think he needs to do that. The comparison is a joke. JA wasn't abused. Those little children were. I don't see how those things are the same.

Right, abused children are different from murdering adults. We see innocence in children and want to protect them. Not true for people accused of murder, unless you're a paternalistic doctor named DICK and a gender biased woman named Alice. Willmut really had no argument which is why she used an extreme to make the comparison -- children.

I wished Dr. D had differentiated more the difference between an evaluator v. therapist, because JW scored a few points imo when DD answered that she didn't feel compassion for the abused children since she was there to evaluate them. At least that's what I think she said, though I hope I'm wrong.

Dr. D. did a great job overall but I don't think she explained herself well on this point. It's one thing when you are asked to evaluate a criminal defendant. Maybe they committed the crime, maybe they didn't, maybe they were sane, maybe they were legally insane. You are there to do an unbiased job and compassion doesn't come into it. Neither does outrage about the crime. Later, perhaps if you conclude that the person was legally insane you feel compassion but that comes in afterwards. Neither Dr. D nor Dr. S. nor Ms. LV should have let emotions come into their evaluations. I feel confident that Dr. D did not. Despite her conclusions, I did not sense any negative emotions toward JA on Dr. D's part whereas it seemed to me that the other two felt sorry for JA.

With evaluating abused children, of course you feel compassion going in, you wouldn't be human otherwise, but you put it aside so you can find out what is going on with the child and how that child's needs should be met. Abused children are different from accused murders. But in both cases, you cannot allow any emotions to bias you.

Just my opinion about how I would have explained it.

Wow, great job Lieb, you said it all with the bolded part of the above statement. Spot on and succinct. :rocker::rocker:
