trial day 48: REBUTTAL #147

I guess she was instructed by JW not to look at the witness, in a sense dismissing her. She sure kept herself busy copying stuff from one place to another.

Early in JM's cross of DD, she listed the tests she'd given JA. One was the Partner [Something] Survey, and Jodi stopped drawing long enough to write that down. So she was surely listening closely.

Help!!!

I had to rip myself away from the computer to attend a school function and then FEED the children in the house. IMAGINE.

I left right after JW was sinking her own battleship by TRYING to discredit JD's CV? What was JW thinking. Just made herself really look lame.

Anyone? Care to PLEASE?? catch me up? Could just be a short, condensed version.

(YOu don't need to list the lectures). :jail: :please:

Children can be SOOOOO selfish.....:floorlaugh:

My 11-y.o. asks daily (because I have to catch up each day after school and watch in my bedroom so DD doesn't get exposed to the horrors) "Ugh, isn't that trial over yet? I thought you already SAID she was guilty!" :floorlaugh:

Yay! Happy to be back from my mandated 24 hour vacay...I promise to be a good girl from now on.

Onto this point I wanted to make...
JW doesn’t seem to understand the internship, residency, fellowship processes…I understand them quite well considering I credential physicians for fellowship programs through the clinic I work at whom are usually coming straight from their residency. While there may be variations between the MD internship, residency, fellowship process from that of a psychologist from listening and understanding Dr. DeMarte I understood them to be very similar. Not sure why this seems to be such a hurdle for JW.

Sometimes, yes. But there are many psychopaths who don't commit murder and many more borderlines who hurt themselves more than those around them too. It's a gray area because disordered people are just as different and varied as 'healthy' ones.

In reality, the jury has only heard borderline, PTSD, and battered person's syndrome - and each has been more than adequately explained even if not proven. Psychopathy has never been mentioned in court, to my knowledge - apart from Travis' text referencing sociopathy. No assessments for psychopathy have been administered either.

You make my case for why there are professionals like you who do this for a living. :) And the ignorant like me who must have it explained to them. So many illnesses in society today. Thanks so much for your help and insight.

On Page 1 of every thread the first several posts have links and resources, including Links to LIVE STREAMS... there are several (inc. khpo.com, abc15.com, wildabouttrial.com and many more)

I don't know how if those are iPad compatible though

Also shortly after court wraps up everyday there are a few youtube users who upload the entire court's day of testimony (commercial free) and our awesome members link to them... I know TigerBalm often links to these videos
I've used many of the live stream links at the beginning of each trial thread on my iPad.

I noticed it also. It is a shame because she is a pretty lady. But it just keeps getting larger ad more pronounced each day.

But look at her nails! They are perfectly manicured every single day. And her suits are impeccable and fit her so nicely. I love her hair cut and wish my hair looked like that from the back, but I'm always asking myself - why doesn't she just get a color touch up in that one area! She could get a touch up in less time it takes to get a manicure or pick up her dry cleaning!

I may have understood some of this. Forgive my ignorance. I am from those long ago days too. So in rebuttal, JM cannot have Dr. deMarte give a diagnosis of antisocial/psychopath? that is what I have been waiting for.
And is that what BPD is or is BPD a whole combination of disorders? See, this new language used is way over my head. Back in the days, there weren't so many words used were there?

Don't let it get confusing for you.....Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is it's own disorder according to the DSM IV. It is a Personality Disorder. It is the diagnosis Dr. DeM*rte gave to JA.She did NOT give a secondary diagnosis thus far.
Many people with Personality Disorders have additional disorders but that has not been mentioned by the Dr. on the stand.

The Dr. did not give a diagnosis of: Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD; aka Sociopath) or NPD (aka a Narcissist) or HPD (aka Histrionic). She did not give JA the diagnosis of Bi-Polar Disorder (aka Manic Depressive).

She gave the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). It may manifest itself with the primary symptomology of fear of abandonment, rage, mirroring others behaviors, splitting, all black or white thinking, and emotional dysregulation.

On my 24 hour vacay I took a minute to look at that other site and was very interested to read how many people thought JA was entirely psychologically "normal" and couldn't see any BPD traits in her. They must not know a BPD person because with my mom being a BPD person it's clearly obvious that JA fits this dx very well.

Well, the Dr. said JA is immature.

Of all the psycho babble the good Dr. was testifying I having feeling that drove a knife through Arias the most today...

Just my :twocents:

Dear Diary—Sorry I haven’t written in my diary for awhile but I was worried the jail dudes would be tossing my bunk and looking for secret diary or my cell ph.
I don’t know why they don’t believe me when I tell them I didn’t hide anything.
Well here I am in court today and that Mean Juan (god I hate Him) has got this cute lady on the stand and she’s really smart.
The thing I don’t like about her is she answers so fast. Where is the fun in that (I like they way my lawyers do it with all the going around in circles) that mean Juan keeps trying to put the court in order or maybe it’s order in the court.
I can’t think without my pills, my drawings in court are so bad they are starting to look like a Van Gough.
OHHHH there the pill is kicking in now. OHHHH OHHHHHHHHH.
I’m so stoned I think I’ll just give my creepy stare to that pretty lady.
I wonder why I never get a pretty one, it’s not fair. The tax payers have pay for me so why don’t I ever get a pretty one with smarts but thanks everybody from Arizona.
Not getting my strawberry fraps in jail lately but I get by.
I got me a secret agent working for me now and she goes to court and sits by my mom and that other women that looks like my mom.
Anyway my agent looks like she should be driving a Mack Truck.
Did I say she? Only her gynecologist knows for sure.
My agent has been sending text messages for me and is faithful sitting in those two chairs in court all day.
Oh man I just about had a heart attack—I heard this pretty lady say something about the hippocampus and for a second I thought my sweetie, Dr S was in the room.
I wonder what back alley he’s got his office in now?
Well I got to tell you all I’ve pretty much know its curtains for me, all we get to listen to now is sane stuff in court
I’m not too worried about anything because my next trail will be about insanity with just a touch of abuse thrown in for good measure.
I built me a shank in the big house here but it’s not as nice as the shiny one I took to Travis’s House. Did I say that out loud? Oops.
I sure hope people won’t think my agent was my girlfriend in jail but she did sit beside me at supper, that’s why I lost so much weight. I can hardly drag two hundred and ten pounds now that I’m down to my court size.
My Jaii site has all these people who think I’m innocent and most of them are as nutty as me. I think they all sit around and do some drugs then tell each other I’m innocent hoping someone might believe me. Naw who am I kidding I’m guilty.
One of my lawyers has a crush on me I think. Sometimes we get so close I can lick her ear. Sometimes we even touch each other.
I wonder where she stashes the helium bottle because how else could you talk like that day after day.
Man I almost forgot that I’m in court and I was giving that brain analyzer my death looks for a long time. She must be exhausted from that because I know the jury sure is when I give them the old Jodi death stare.
I hope my lawyers can drag this out a few more months because I think the big prison I’m going to might be a little hard on my ego but I hear they will give me free intravenous drugs but only once (I wonder why that is? Oh well it will be a rush I’m sure.
I can’t believe this law system; you murder one person and look at all the trouble I have to go through everyday.
I wonder how Alice in Juanderland is doing? I bet I won’t get more books now.
Oh good court is over for the day and I can go for a nice van ride and see all the nice things on the way back to little tiny room.
I wonder if the jail would loan me a camera or maybe a knife. Who am I kidding, nothing but rubber knives’ for me now
I have to go now the guard is trying to make me hurry up, I can’t socialize after court or nothing anymore. What a bummer.
I hope tomorrow all my layers dress the same as me. That looked so cool.
Got to—till next time.
Jodie

Cute and super funny!! "court size" lol!!

Totally agree with this "I’m not too worried about anything because my next trail will be about insanity with just a touch of abuse thrown in for good measure."

What I like best about Dr D is she seems totally objective and fact based. I don't think she would hesitate to disagree with JM if that came up. She didn't fall under JA's spell. She seems like a complete professional who keeps her personal emotions divorced from her assessments.

Wilmont's cross sounded more like interviewing a perspective employee for a job. I mean, REALLY? Probably Samuels and ALV haven't had experience with 1/4 of those tests DD rattled off. And stuff not on her CV? PULEEZE! She didn't put some lectures on it because it's secondary to her clients and she doesn't use her CV that often.........OMG. Come on, Wilmont, is THAT all you've got? Go after DD's credentials? It's not working!

And with JA busily coloring in her "Snow White" coloring book most of the day, did you all notice that when the diagnosis, "Borderline Personality Disorder" popped up, "someone" dropped her crayons and stared down DD? If looks could kill........

DD comes off very professional, observes the court rules, articulates well, gives the jury their respect, and does a good job "correcting" JW when JW looses her train of thought or doesn't have her information current. DD is showing no bias, using the proper tests, the proper test sheets and test grading protocol, and, evidently has a passion for her line of forensics.

Someone should check what JW has in her drinking cup.....she talked like she had drunk a case of Red Bull.

The DT loves those CV's. ALV's was 20 pages long-----full of her 'lectures.'

This expert is a clinician. She's seeing patients. She doesn't need to sell herself to anyone, or pad her credentials. I loved what she said about it, too.

So the new language is borderline personality disorder? Sounds like nothing. I like psycho better. Why not just come out and say she is psychotic and slaughtered the man, in her professional opinion? These terms seems to change so often, no wonder jurors find it confusing,

Because that promotes stigma and is not accurate. BPD has been heavily researched and is very serious. She wasn't psychotic

:floorlaugh:

She's probably more than borderline. It's pretty rare to have just one Cluster B disorder and not present symptoms of other mental health diagnoses too.

Carnell thinks she's antisocial/psychopathic in addition to borderline. I agree. And she tips the scales of the MMPI, the often preferred psych test for forensic evaluations, which tests for 10 different scales - depressive, psychopathic, etc. (Using laymen's terms) A score of 65 is considered significant. Jodi scored 65 in 7 of 10 scales. Making comorbidity (or multiple mental health diagnoses) even more likely. I'd missed that testimony, so double thanks Carnell. (DD's 13th birthday is today and I'm busy cake decorating, blowing up balloons, etc.)

Hopefully I explained that okay. :blushing:
Beautiful! I do remember the doctor being asked when these symptoms show up and she said as early as a toddler. So my belief still stands that some people are just born evil. The camera panned over to Jodi's mom and I genuinely felt sorry for her. Thank you for explaining.

but didn't they use children as an example..who would not feel compassion for an abused child. She said she would, but would remain unbias

I get where JW was going with this but it didn't work.

You can do your job, do you job well, be compassionate and have empathy but not overstep boundaries. One can remain professional and not get emotionally wrapped up in their work. It doesn't mean you are without feeling, it just means that you put your professionalism first. For all we know DrD may go home at the end of the day and have a glass of wine and tell her significant other (if she has one) that she had a rough day listening to horrific tales of abuse from one of her clients. Professionals often compartmentalize their feelings.

My personal observation (I can't Dx anymore) I would see Mixed personality Disorder with strong antisocial traits with Borderline personality disorder deferred :-)

What does that all mean Arias alot of of many symptoms of many disorder criteria, strong lean toward antisocial traits and deferring means continuing evaluation (or in my case retire w/o a license "observation" for Borderline personality disorder Dx)

Curious, interesting take on Dr. DM presentation thanks for sharing your thoughts. I actually perceived her as being respectful of a court of law, but I really didn't see indicators of nervousness at all.

I felt she was tad nervous in the beginning and might have had a dry mouth. I was impressed with the composure she demonstrated by being able to deliver the goods while a little nervous. That shows class and that she knows her stuff. It tells me she is taking responsibility for her own nervousness and has the skill to balance herself. I appreciated that she didn't help JW out when she was floundering, and instead allowed her to trip and fall on her own. She didn't rescue her. That shows good boundaries. Some may read that as arrogance, but not me. It's not her job to make JW appear competent or enable her in her in any way. MOO
