I think this goes to show just how desperate the DT is and how little they have to throw at the Prosecution.

Is it just me or does it appear to anyone else that Roux1 and Roux2 (OW) are really just discrediting their own case by going after all of these ear witnesses so forcefully about very, very, unimportant things?

She must have recognized her voice as both have been testified to.

You mean Reeva's? I don't think she said that. She said she heard a woman screaming but her husband said no, that's Oscar, something must be wrong.

He needs to testify, her testifying for him is hearsay.

That could be true, but I doubt it very much. And now OW asks for and gets a lunch break with Mrs. Stipp still on the stand; it just looks like OW can't seem to break her so he wants time to think and get help thinking from the other lawyers on the DT.

Yes, no doubt it could also be so OW can continue trying to break the witness, but don't doubt that he would be conferring with the client and Roux and the team because that is how it works. SA system is like here in the UK one with advocates (here called barristers) and lawyers and the one is not exclusive of the other especially in a case like this where so much depends on witness testimony with only one, OP, knowing what happened, so he can give leads to his defence team of things he recalls that could be asked to rebut the witnesses.

Judge Masipa is impartial and stone faced, for hours, then suddenly she steps right in there, and brooks no mucking about ..

Yep - no muck was brooked during that cross-examination.

My Lady was none too pleased with Oldwage - and I have no doubt that he knows it.

I think she interrupted Oldwage more during that cross than she has during the entirety of the trail thus far.

Apparently, hearsay is allowed in SA. But this is what she said he told her.

That was crying not screaming as i remember?.

I think even the Judge gave an inkling of thinking what Roux2 was doing was a bit far fetched today and that she is getting tired of it... I mean what's that about asking a witness to confirm a mistake made by her husband, (if it is a lie/mistake because I think Stipp (Mr) getting through on the first call has not been proven yet as there may be another explanation for records showing this that Nel may clarify with a telecoms expert witness if he calls one) or to confirm that she doesn't remember dogs barking if there is no claim that they were barking. Glad the judge is pulling them up on these things now, but a shame she didn't do so when Burger was on the stand.

It was the crying, wasn't it? That he said was Oscar? Not the screaming.

I meant the husband recognized the person to be Oscar. I'd assume this is because he recognized his voice.

She said he recognized his voice.

no that is incorrect it was Mrs Burgers husband who thought he recognized Oscars voice .. the Stipps didn't know Oscar , knew he lived on the same estate but had no clue who he was.. .

even after Dr Stipp had had to drag Oscars fingers from Reevas throat, and remove his hand from her dead groin, he still didn't know until after daybreak, who 's house he had been in, and whose body it was..

This lady is not going to budge, OW needs to move on!

I didn't say it was the Stipps I said it was a past witness. I was not talking about Mrs. Stipp.

its so bad, I worry that Oscar may have a case for incompetent representation

Fact is, imo, and imbw, to expect all ear witness are going to recall everything they heard that traumatic night, and to all hear exactly the same is pie in the sky. Each will hear differently. It will depend on each person's hearing, on what they were paying more attention to at a given moment, on whether they were facing left or right or looking out or in, on whether a gust of wind went by and the noise momentarily changed direction, etc. etc. etc.

I don't really understand why it is so significant the number of "shots" each heard either, and much less still if the defence is trying to claim double taps which I would think it would be harder to distinguish one from the other.
