I actually found it very offensive for him to be talking about smelling Reeva's blood during an apology to her family

I agree. I have no doubt the smell of the blood haunts him - it is a unique strong smell when you are surrounded by or covered in lots of blood but it is insensitive and offensive for him to discuss it with Reeva's parents present as a part of an 'apology'. Ugh!

I believe he was never tested for alcohol because those on the scene didn't believe he was under the influence(police/paramedics) Besides, I cant imagine OP to be a very big drinker with taking his training and sports so seriously.

Also, I've hunted high and low and cannot find any confirmation that OP even has a new girlfriend, the paper who "broke" the story was The Sun and others all quoted from them...is The Sun a reputable and reliable news outlet?

I guess I'm a little disappointed that he gave this long life story however, I guess its maybe relevant.

Actually there are photos of the boat showing alcoholic beverage containers in it; and the paramedics never said that OP had not been drinking. And there are tons of incidents where OP has gotten drunk and caused trouble for those around him, many of whom OP didn't even know, strangers in restaurants and parties.

BBM

Well, I do have an issue if that is the case. How would they know if he was under the influence, if his face was so badly damaged? I doubt they could have assessed him by speaking to him for any length of time.

I think it would have made sense to do a blood test while he was in the hospital. If you or I were in his place, they probably would have tested our blood, to see if we were driving drunk, in such an accident. jmo

As for the apparent new girlfriend, wasn't she videotaped at the trial? Or am I misremembering?

I found it very interesting , finally , that he left his jeans on the prosthetics when he got into bed. That is a telling bit of information. So with that I went to grab some eggs for breakfast. Did I miss anything else important before they went to break?

In think that is a very interesting point because his jeans were at the right hand side of the bed and where the two iPads were found one of which had its cover knocked off .
Why on earth are we being made to think Reeva was on the right and that his gun was under the left hand side of the bed ......puzzles me .
I try not to let my imagination run away with me but it does kind of makes me think at some point Reeva was on the left hand side of the bed and he could have gone round to her to threaten her with the gun .
Sorry for the wild speculation :-)
Just adding the magazine and holder were found at the right and his phone charger I believe as well .

I thought his new gf had been coming to court? I remember others discussing her on a previous thread. Did that happen or am I mistaken?

Yes, so why were his jeans away from his legs at the end of the bed?

And he explained how he always had his legs at hand so that he could easily slip them on. So why did he not slip them on before grabbing his gun?
I could see Judge's lips twitching, so ready to ask him WTF?

I hope Nel doesn't go in too heavy with OP. I can't decide if that will make OP clam up into the traumatized, sobbing, man who can't sleep OP, who'll just start crying if Nel puts him on the spot - or if Nel might risk it to try and rile OP, and make him show the other, angrier side of OP (which I'm convinced he has).

I believe this helps Viper's theory that OP was moving while shooting... :)

Hmm...the video showed men targeting, that's not the same thing

Your aim moves every time you fire a gun. It's virtually impossible to target whilst you're unstable. That works in OP's favour.

IMO

I have not seen any evidence or story that the girl has been at the trial. Where did that come from, I wonder? I am not convinced it is his girlfriend. It was a story sold to The Sun by a "classmate" of the girl. Who knows who she is.

The Sun is not very well respected, but the alleged new girlfriend has been named and photos of her published. So I would expect to see denials from her if it wasn't true.

R: Runnning; any impacts on your friendships?

O: It did. I travelled a lot....Huge effect on perceived friends. I started earning a bit of money....hard to come back after months and they're dating different partners. It did change a lot of the friendships I had.

... and OP had dated 2-3 different partners in the same time and possibly even simultaneously ...

My dog thinks I'm rubbish. I won't let him bark at anything this morning, and I don't want to play football or tug the rope. If he gets half a chance, he'll chew my keyboard, I know he will. :)

Nel will be expecting him to start the dramatics to might try and start out nice gently leading him into saying something big and important which contradicts his version .

I think Nel will start out gently and politely. And allow OP to feel safe enough to begin talking a bit, maybe even rambling a bit. Then at some point, Nel will turn into a shark.

So hoping he goes for the rile up! In fact I am sure he will after this drawn out soap start. This trial is supposed to be about the murder of an innocent woman, not an advert for the Bladerunner! But then again Nels draw out could have the bullet leave the chamber...so to speak.

How's the doggy reacting to the case?

Any signs one way or the other? Animals have a good sense for these things

I have read, Leah already had been seen in court before postponement.

Just a quick observation, now that we've had as good as an admission from OP in his 'apology' that he is the killer... which we knew all along but it is now practically confirmed that the defence are not going to challenge this, and so putative self defence is the key in this trial (as I and many others have pointed out). The burden of proof in issue now in UK law would be:

OP now has the evidential burden to adduce sufficient evidence to raise the issue of self defence to be able to rely on it and the prosecution then have the evidential burden to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that OP was not acting in self defence. It may still be a hard slog but Nel is obviously in the mood for a fight!

I am assuming that evidential burdens in self defence is similar in SA law?
