RS certainly doesn't seem to have been a golddigger. I wonder if OP paid for any of the clothes she wore to events with him? I bet not.

I'm in CT! Originally from JHB, my family stays in centurion now. Haha, I bailed as soon as I could :D

Yay, so glad you here, hope you stick around :)

Lucky fish! Ooh I miss CT, so beautiful there! Stayed there for 6 years and moved back to JHB last year.

:) started coming here when the Casey Anthony case was on. So have been around for a while, just not posting at all. Cases I've read here so far also includes JonBenet Ramsey, Jodi Arias and Skylar Neese.

(sorry for the delayed reply, Telkom is full of nonsense tonight)

One thing that I didn't understand today.......

Why did Reeva ask him if he wants something warm to drink the night of Feb 13? They weren't at Reeva's place, they weren't married, so why was she waiting on him as if he was a child?

I didn't think her offering him a drink was weird at all, it's just a courteous thing to do regardless of where you are...

What I thought was weird was the fact that he remembered that and felt it important to mention on the stand.

He barely gave any details about that night but he remembers her getting tea for him? It strikes me as one of those details that you throw in to a story for a specific reason.

I really appreciate both of you being here and anyone else fom SA. So interesting to hear your POV on things.

(Love you Aussies, Brits, Europeans and Americans too) :)

Ok, that was definitely weird!
It's what you'd tell your child to do, not your partner.

It seems Reeva was doing everything for OP that night, and he was doing nothing for her.

Maybe OP arrived home after the meeting irritable/angry, and things went downhill from there. She may have tried to placate him at some point with food/tea, which made her seem even more irritating than usual. What little control over his emotions OP usually managed to scrape up were missing that night.

I don't think either of them had been asleep. He wouldn't (I don't think) have been annoyed at Reeva for not bringing everything in and closing up, because it was already agreed she'd do it before she went to sleep, and she hadn't gone to sleep. He did bring the time of his sleep forward to between 9 and 10pm rather than the 10pm stated in his affidavit. Which, after spending half an hour on the phone to his cousin, having a shower or bath, spending maybe another half hour watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and visiting car sites, leaves between 90 minutes and an hour and a half as the sum of their total evening together. Also, he said they didn't really get together till January, so this whole intense roller coaster took place over just a few weeks.

Maybe 90 minutes is all OP can handle thinking of someone else.. Night before Valentines Day with that kind of focus on a woman is reason to get in a fight IMO. He made no plans for the next day because he had an a.m. Dental appointment. What???
He said he and Reeva did not have plans. I am not surprised he is looking at this whole situation as he is. He seems very self involve.

Don't you get the impression that he is exactly like a spoilt overgrown child though? He seems to have never progressed emotionally beyond the age where self absorption and self interest are all consuming.

And telling him to come and brush his teeth!!!

That sounds like something his ideal girl, the one just like mommy, would say to him, i.e. a figment of his imagination. She shops for food, cooks the food, and in return he honors her with his fault-finding presence.

And telling him to come and brush his teeth!!!

Yes! Thank you as I knew that I was forgetting something. When he said that I said out loud WTH?!?! I have never told a guy I was dating or my hubby of almost 14 years that any of them need to brush their teeth. My kids, yes of course but not a grown man.

And we are expected to believe that OP took it upon himself to grab a gun and go charging towards an "intruder" when he has to be told to brush his freaking teeth?

not sure if it's relevant for me to say this but it's very much in the culture, maybe a common NZ, Aus and Sth Africa thing to always drink a hot drink and to always offer one, even when staying at your friend's house... friends are always surprised when I turn this down, it's a thing, especially tea or hot choc

The whole story about buying a bracelet for Reeva seemed very made up to me. He fumbled throughout his explanation of the gift and said he had bought it earlier in the year. It was February. That's pretty early in the year. Why not just say a few weeks ago?

Also, why was it still at the jeweler? I'm pretty sure he didn't need to do lay-away. It was a nonsensical story. Another one.

I know that all these tidbits don't equal murderer however... his credibility and character are extremely important. The more he explains away and comes up with silly BS stories and excuses, the worse he looks.

All his explaining and justifying is over the top. I think his defense would be better off allowing him to admit to a few bad deeds form time to time. That's a lot more human and believable than his constant justifications.

And how will the defense be able to prove this story? Will they have the owner of the jewelry store testify that OP and Reeva had an appointment to look at charms on Feb 14?

ETA: Just had a thought. I can imagine Roux trying to find a jewelry store owner that is willing to testify or produce a document stating that OP did in fact have an appointment for the day Reeva was killed after reading my post. lol

Sorry I'm just coming in here out of the blue, as first seeing the bedroom/bathroom layout today. I haven't really followed the trial...

But doesn't it seem odd that when he was so frightened that someone was in the bathroom, that he was brave enough, without his legs, to go into the hall of the bathroom and then come into the inner area to shoot at the door? I mean what if the alleged burglerer were already in the area where the bathtub was? Then he would be in closed-in combat with that person, with no legs. That just seems odd to me. He had to go in through the little open hall, into the bathroom area to shoot at the door.

Me, I would have just waited to see if someone came out that entry and started shooting away. No way I'd go in there.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the layout of the bathroom and/the bedroom.

He did seem to flounder when trying to describe his V-Day gift to Reeva, as if he wasn't confident in what he was saying.

If he'd got her a charm bracelet, it could have still been at the jeweler's to have the charms put on.

:wagon: And no, you aren't misunderstanding the layout of the bathroom and bedroom.
