Nel asked him does he or hashes reheard of a zombie stopper....and OP said........"no...:drumroll:

Neil asked him if he knew what a zombie stopper is and he said no. He asked him if there was a video of him that included the phrase would he be surprised? OP said no. OP probably doesn't even remember saying it. Again, can't see how that is lying.

OP's first lie.....never heard of a zombie stopper...boom

Me three.

I also don't think OP is lying by saying he has never heard of a zombie stopper, given that it was not, in the context, a 'thing'. It's not a video game, or a gun, or anything physically there. It was a turn of phrase. I'm sure I could be caught out if someone said 'have you ever heard of *insert comment I made years ago*' and phrased it like it was an actual, touchable, thing.

My brain isn't working today, but I hope that made sense :blushing:

Imo, doesn't really matter now, Nel has already highlighted the video and there are probably 10k people watching it as I type this lol.

Perhaps Milady has nipped out the back to have a quick squiz at it too....!

Surely the point Nel is making here is that OP does not always tell the truth?

How did he lie?

He said he had no idea what "Zombie Stopper" was. Then we see a video of him saying that term himself, as he shoots the same gun that killed Reeva.

Perfect sense, grace.

I haven't followed (or moderated) many international trials here at WS. I followed the Knox case a little but Italy's system is SO different, I stayed confused and frustrated. To my surprise, the South African system is very, very similar to the U.S. procedurally speaking. The obvious glaring difference is no jury trial.

One big difference I have noticed is the two different sides aren't constantly objecting every few minutes and then having to meet in chambers. Today is the first chamber meeting, right?

I think it was just a sneaky way of introducing him firing guns and how at ease (or even elated) he is with them.

I just though; earlier, OP was saying how he called Stander because 'I could not pick Reeva up, I could hardly carry her'.

He says he wanted help. But then he did pick her up and carry her all the way downstairs on his own. From there, it was just a flat walk to his car and then a drive to hospital.

Once Stander arrived though, OP was able to blame him for his (OP's) not taking Reeva to the hospital. Because Stander told him 'to put her down'.

Also, OP says he didn't call all that agent/family support etc. That was Clarice/Clariss? So she's the one who looks coldhearted, not him.....

See above posts.

If Nel had asked him if ever uttered the phrase zombie stopper, and OP said no, then you could argue that's a lie.

I do not think he lied. I think he didn't know what the heck Nel was talking about.

This is one spooky video but OP denied every hearing about these words or taking part in this thrill seeking adventure, once again he has been caught lying under oath on the stand.

Moo.....I think this trial is over. MiLady will see OP for the lies he is willing to tell and will find no need to hear more lies. Bang

I think I can see where Nel is going here...

I believe he is going to show the ongoing pattern of OP's reckless, impulsive and irresponsible nature when it comes to firearms.

He is trying to make the judge doubt OPs versions of shooting out of the sunroof & the restaurant incident. OP painted himself as being the responsible one who seems to always be a victim of circumstance.

I want to see this video.

I will say that in the U.S., this video would probably never get in because I agree with Roux's legal argument. (I'm a paralegal though, so don't throw things. Just how I think re. law)

Don't know if this video would be important enough, but in the UK disclosure is an ongoing obligation for both sides except once the trial has begun, or a few days before when 4 copies of each sides evidence files have to be filed at court, it can only be by permission of the court and the other side can object as has happened now.

How did he lie?

Because he has previously used the terminolgy 'zombie stopper' himself, and yet now pretends not to know what it means.

Hmmm. This is character evidence, should not be used.

Wonder how m'lady sees this?

According to experts I'm listening to BR opened the door & he's desperately trying to close it. They are all supporting Nel on this

Aaahhh. Anyone else have that horrible beeping on the live feed?

Sounds to me that phrases like that are very much part of his vocabulary.

But he didn't say "no" didn't he?

I thought he said he didn't remembering saying it. That is when Nel asked OP if he wanted to see the video and OP said "yes". Big mistake...IMO. Roux should have objected before OP could answer.

Barry says the teams have just 'rushed' back into court.

Rushing. That'll be a first in this trial....

  • #259
All that really matters is does this give us any further indication of what happened that night.

I don't think it does, and if I was Reeva's family I'd be far more concerned that they start producing something valid.

It removes focus from the more important issues. This is lawyer point-scoring more than anything else.

  • #260
I suppose Roux could argue that as you can't see the person whose saying it then it could just as easily have been one of his friends uttering the words.

:floorlaugh: ... either that or Mr Pass the Buck would say it :floorlaugh:
