Nel asks Pistorius why this blue light bothered him when (we pull into a close up of the picture and the stereo display is filled with all the other lit area’s of numbers and information). There is glow from the other ambient display full of some lights right next to the bothersome blue LED switch light.
Pistorius can’t seem remember if it has bothered it before enough that he would have previously just switched off or covered the LED. He can’t seem remember how the color switch works, if it’s red when it’s off or just off. Nel thinks it means the amplifier is still on.
For a guy who remembers minutiae on his alarm buttons, and panels and where the sensors are, it seems a bit odd he doesn’t know exactly how the on/off light switch works in this minute. Or why he didn’t cover it before. Or why it bothered him so much that night.
Nel says he’s trying to buy time in his version, that’s why he invented the LED jean moment.
Pistorius says the State has done this before too, tailoring evidence to find more time. And he adds that lying (blame game!) Samantha Taylor also said it took 4minutes to put on his legs, when the court could tell from the demo, it takes him only a few seconds to put them on.
