It's not rocket science.

You don't need an elaborate experiment.

From a distance, bat strike and gunshot sound remarkably similar.

But, we already know that, because the Stipps thought both sets of sounds were gunshots.

Oscar Pistorius Door: Cricket Bat v Gunshot Sounds - Analysis - YouTube

That ridiculous youtube vid carried out in broad daylight and in an open field, which did nothing to recreate the conditions of Feb 13th was almost as unbelievable as Dixon's testimony. DT aren't even clutching at straws, they're clutching at pieces that fell off the straw.

The good news for Oscar is when he is found guilty, he will have a lot of people to blame.

the only reason the defence could have any use for this guy, is to get him in to say the door was cleaned, and get it thrown out as an exhibit.

bizarre man. bizarre choice.
[he makes op look a better witness, i suppose]

Hopefully starting with himself--but probably not...

Why would the conditions change how one sounds relative to the other?

If they are both under the same changed conditions, then they would still sound the same relative to each other.

The only time you would have a problem is if the gunshots are heard under one set of conditions and the bat strike under another.

But that is not the case--it was same set of conditions for both, 10 to 15 minutes apart.

Did you listen to the video? They sound very much alike to the point where you probably couldn't tell them apart, given a 10 minute break between the two sets of sounds.

just have to say i am stunned.

it seems to be a mockery of the process that is meant to decide the fate of op, and also shed some light on the death of the poor woman.

i have lost a lot of respect for roux during this episode.

IIRC one of the last questions Nel asked OP was why he used black talon bullets, and OP said they are what's used "with my firearm". But didn't Dixon say black talons weren't used for the gun sound test because the DT couldn't get them? Either they're very hard to get or they make a greater than average sound.

Somebody save this man from himself. Please.

Not until I hear his excuses for the bathroom fiasco... using a model that was reported to be 1.1 metres on their knees with his nose right up against the window wall, from a ground level vantage, compared to OP at 1.55 metres on his stumps placed almost back by the sinks counter and the Stipp's bedroom at first floor level(same as the bathroom)...:D

Says you dont need an elaborate experimemt and then posts a video of an elaborate experiment, LOL.

It's not elaborate. He's just recreating the sounds, recording them, and listening to them.

And, if you didn't know which was which, you really can't tell them apart when they are presented in sets.

But we already know that. The Stipps thought both sets were gunshots.

5 people say they heard gunshots, 2 of them heard another set of sounds.
So what is more likely
(a) 3 of those 5 people heard the alleged sound of a bat hitting a door but didn't hear gunshots
(b) 5 of those 5 people heard gunshots, 3 of them didn't hear the other set of sound's.

Also consider the 2 people who heard the other set of sounds were the closest to O.P's house.

Then my pc speakers are better than I thought they were because you could almost feel the power in the gunshot test whereas the bat one sounded like my neighbour working on the fence or chopping wood.

That's not the way it works.

The way it works is that there were two sets of sounds, both of which sounded like gunshots [Stipps].

So, gunshots--woman screaming--gunshots

The witnesses who only heard one set of sounds thought they were gunshots because both sets of sounds sounded like gunshots.

But, only one set of sounds was gunshots.

Of course, here's why they picked Dixon:

He was willing to say this (which is in too obvious support of Oscar's claim about "I thought I heard the door start to move/open"):

Dixin: "The second had hit her in the right arm as she was reaching for the door handle,

http://www.enca.com/south-africa/state-hammers-defence-expert-weaknesses-his-evidence JMO

Wow Did he really say that ?
There is no way her arm could have been anywhere near that door handle after the hip shot. She would have been instantaneously thrown backwards and started to collapse . There was clearly a gap in the shots IMO

If Nel stated yesterday that he accepts everything as true that happened after the shooting, then does that mean the defence can't or won't need to call Stander or his friends?
