Yes, I know. My first sentence was regarding the running meme: I.e. The belief among many on this board that if Masipa rejects the state's version and accepts OP's then she will still give him murder, regardless. Obviously, as you say, that's not true.

I don't believe that's the interpretation of many on this board at all. If Oscar's claim of putative self-defence is accepted by the court, he cannot be found guilty of murder. I believe the huge majority, if not all, of us understand that even if we don't understand the subtler nuances of South African law.

R: I only heard a man crying...if I heard a female screaming I think I would have reflected that in my statement.

In her statement she'd said that about 03:20 she'd heard a man crying.

She has been following the trial on television.

Witness stresses that's an estimate. Approximation only.

Witness says she did follow the case, after Cpt VA said she would not be called as a witness.

When she got up the Mini Cooper was outside Oscar's house.

Roux says as promised he will finish by Tuesday next week. Roux says he has no more witnesses for the day. He'd asked Nel to ask more questions on Thursday and Nel said he would. Judge says maybe Roux should assist Nel with thinking of more questions.

Adjourn for the day until Thursday, 8 May at 09:30 in the morning.

Tomorrow South Africa votes.

More like they slept through the cricket bat hits and then woke from the shots. Makes a lot more sense and I think that's exactly what Nell was getting at in his cross.

I think it's quite possible that you can be woken by a noise, but have no conscious perception of that noise. Something woke you, but you don't know what it was? It's certainly happened to me, more than once.
