Not right IMO.Ths what freedom of press IS all about.

and are they saying only audio to be disallowed?
they will end up publishing the text in print media anyway?

Whilst it may be unpleasant, IMO it should be broadcast. It will be published, not sure why all the fuss.

I just cannot imagine the level of the horror of these injuries..... I just cant, and I am not sure I need to..

I have a better appreciation now of Oscar vomiting under the hint of this matter the other day... he suddenly started to gulp then he hurled..

well..

Did he vomit inside court? I didn't hear about that?

has this request for discretion come from Reevas family?? I didn't gather that it had..

I can understand Oscar and Oscars family wanting it to be merely referred to..

What do you think the judge will do here?

As a human being, of course I understand their argument. But as a sleuther/trial watcher, it will be hard to have this big chunk of evidence missing from the story.

I think since counsel is in agreement on this matter, the Judge may grant their request.

As a trial watcher, I want to hear ALL the evidence, so I can make up my own mind.

IMO, I think it's important for the public to be able to hear all the evidence, too, so that the public can be assured in whatever verdict comes down.

CNN
Court is adjourned for the moment. Nel says he has another witness prepared for today but needs to check if they're ready. He says he wants Dr. Saayman to testify today so we wait until counsel representing the media arrives.

And to me, it does not really matter if he said ' I'M fine ' or EVERYTHING is fine.' Either way, that is pathetic behavior, imo. His girlfriend was dying on the bathroom floor. How could HE be 'fine?' He should have been yelling for HELP to get her to the hospital.

ETA: this is not the quote I clicked on. weird. oh well....lol

The order/extent of injuries is so crucial to this case, it's hard to see why information should not be released. Much of it is already out there anyhow.

I'm not talking about showing pm photos, but the written information.

This is pretty ridiculous if you think about it. It's part of the case. You can't just tell the public the pieces you want them to hear and hide the rest. I understand the need to shield witnesses faces and not show certain photos. But not testimony.

yup... my little dog and I were calmly watching the TV feed, and then Ocar starts to go backwards and forwards, then whoa..

a court orderly handed him a sort of bandanna, handkerchief thing.

it was during the outlining of the shots fired, and the damage done, re hip shot, wrist shot, headshot, missed shot, etc..

the dog and I were hor's de combat.. a quick walk around the balcony and a big big gulp of Tasman Sea air..

but we were both wobbly.

Also, if Roux is right about the time of the supposed call to Netcare, @ 3:20, then OP hadnt even called anyone for an ambulance yet. So why didnt he ask security to call or to come help him take her there, pronto?

It's interesting to me how Oscar says in his statement that when he broke the bathroom door down, Reeva was on the ground but still alive.

But then we have the lawyers and Stipp stating that she would not be able to have any cognitive function after the head wound.

Now we have a medical examiner and the lawyers arguing that the injuries are so horrific they can't be spoken about in the public.

How in the world was she still alive on the bathroom floor when Oscar broke through the door? I think he embellished that too.

Judge is granting an order...
press prohibited from publishing photos of private witnesses
public figures photo may be published after trial
no pics while they are giving evidence

the theory is, she was shot while in the toilet room.. although there are blood splatters all the way down the staircase, and on the furniture and floor below the staircase, ( as Baba correctly described the angle of hold) . no mention of any shooting taking place anywhere else but that small locked toilet..

sorry for the graphic stuff.. do forgive.

TV cameras can't change position, even after break.

Not sure what all this has to do with post mortem evidence...

even the mention of Professor Saaymans evidence had Oscar putting his head in his hands, again.. please.. Oscar.. don't..

Alright kids, I think I need to go to bed. No sense in staying up as this is probably going to take a while. Chat tomorrow! :seeya:

Did Roux make an important point in the brief exchange with Baba?

Roux seems to be saying Baba cannot be trusted with his 'Everything is fine' statement about what OP said, because the first statement witness gave to police is different from the second, later one. So his memory can't be trusted?

The discrepancy used by Roux to make the point was Baba saying in initial statement he was in shock, couldn't take in what he was seeing, and in the later statement providing details of what direction Reeva's head was pointing in as OP carried her downstairs.

If Proff Saayman is instructed to give evidence re result of gunshots fired , at close range. he is the post mortem bloke.. I hope that someone is ready for Oscar because I don't think he can take it..

Kinda takes a bit of the fun out of firing guns at people, through roofs, under restaurant tables.. .. its just awful.

Yeah. Who'd have thought guns can actually kill people and ruin lives? They aren't toys...

The issue is. . will the autopsy evidence be broadcast?? the press says yes,,it should be. the details were broadcast in similar trials..for example.. the Matakame massacre.. ( spelling may be off) but this trial is different..

don't quite get how it's different.
