Nel still talking about prof saying about how OP he ran. Prof says OP told him he moved cautiously.

N: Did he tell you he ran?

D: I can't recall....

N: I think you're biased.

Oldwage up, objecting. Says Nel misleading crt.

O: ..record, Mr Nel put it to accused; 'you stormed...' and accused said 'I did not storm. I ran then approached cautiously'..

Good lord! Now O is trying to coach while the Prof is being crossed, he's got balls... excuse the expression...

Yay, throw the skunk on the porch, Nel! :applause:

So OP ran AND approached cautiously! No winners!

  • #427
OP told witness he did not run, he moved cautiously.

Witness claims he specifically called OP in to ask him how he moved?

This defence witness is a shocker.

You'd think this bloke was actually there, the way he is going on  .. he has no right to be testifying on behalf of OP, as if OP's version was the truth.

  • #429
Whoop says this is the last witness 'from all sources'.

  • #430
Anyway, the expert is all over the place now .. so well done, Nel .. he's made this bloke look a total fool.

Interesting, OP did say he ran but told the doctor, when called in and questioned about that point that he walked cautiously. Now we hear that he ran down the corridor and then walked cautiously.

It is all very well SA holding trials in English and not Afrikaans, but there do seem to be language difficulties, i.e. understanding, syntax, grammar, etc. Neither Nel's English accent, syntax or grammar are always intelligible, the same as the rest, including the judge sometimes. I have done the full transcripts of some 6 witnesses to date and imo, obviously from a Brit's opinion, if not the most difficult, certainly one of the most.

Yes and it was Dermon that introduced the 'running down the passage' statement. Nel was simply questioning the statement. I checked Barry Bateman to make sure I was correct and here it is:

Barry Bateman @barrybateman · 30s
#OscarTrial Derman: says he read in the record that Oscar ran down the passage.
Nel counters that nowhere does it state that. BB

So OP moved cautiously while yelling loudly, "Get the F- out of my house"? Sort of defeats the purpose of approaching stealthily.

I dont think the doc sees it that way and that leads me to the old joke

Q. whats the difference between God and a Doctor?
A. God doesn't think he is a doctor

;)

  • #438
Is this guy hear to give facts and the benefit of his expertise or stick rigidly to Oscar's version?.

  • #439
I think Nel has made it fairly clear that this witness is tailoring his evidence in OP's favour and not reporting factually.

if you look at the videos with auto-translation, which goes best is Roux, even if he is speaking very fast
