OMG. A large pit bull tried to eat my dog once. In my wisdom I decided the best course of action was to put my hand on its head to stop it. It actually did not bite, bark or even growl at me...but if looks could kill.

Turned into a short pushing match, which I lost. Just ploughed straight through and over me. Then proceeded to try and catch my dear, departed dog.

Who was a greyhound. Lightening on legs. Lol, she ran it into the ground!

IMO the evidence on the door supports the argument that OP was on his stumps when he hit the door with the bat. No way do I believe that he was bent over on his prosthetics and just happens to hit the door at around what his stump level would be, certainly not at his height on his legs. Roux can try to skirt around making mountains out of molehills but the main evidence that matches the bat perfectly is there on the door for all to see, including My Lady.

We have a boerboel, they are ferocious and extremely territorial. He doesn't bark much at all..we have 3 little warning siren yappers to alert us if anything is amiss. When they bark, he gets up and moves quickly (as quick as his bulk allows lol) to see whats up..rarely making any noise. Id go so far as to say that when he barks, he is just reminding us what he sounds like. Hth!

I had the great pleasure of looking after these two Boerboel chaps. Beautiful natures, but the bigger one was always on guard/protection mode when I walked him. If he saw a stranger outside he was in full protection mode. With people he knew, he was a gentle giant.

Pit bulls and tigers not a good mix?

I don't like people keeping wild animals in their private residences - too difficult to check on the animals' welfare -especially if the owners are rich - and I don't think it's right somehow. Just my personal view.

**MAY BE GRAPHIC TO SOME**

OP may have really been retching when the photos of Reeva were shown.

The bullets he used create a large amount of destruction. She literally would not have had much brain left intact, so she knew nothing after that wound. That is why her hip was shattered too. :(

The autopsy photos, if those were shown, would make it even more clear than just the external visible damage.

There was no saving her, that is certain. I just don't know if he was going to take her body to the hospital or try to dispose of evidence. I would think hospital, as he called other people, and security called him, there would be too many witnesses.

Built like little hippos! I've never heard of this breed, but I love the name.

The photo that actually made me feel ill was the (bloodless) ones of the bullets, showing the distorted shape after one had gone through the door. The idea of that object entering a human body, and the destruction it would wreak....

The question remains why would he phone Stander first?, that's the part i don't get, it just makes no sense at all, it's like he was at least wrestling with the idea of what he was going to do.

I'm not buying this vomiting stuff from Oscar, crying your eyes out in my opinion would be a more natural reaction, but of course it's easier to make yourself sick that it is to make yourself cry.

the next public holiday in SA is Human Rights day 21st march, but none in that week alluded to.

Are they done for the day? It's almost 2:00 PM in SA.

zwiebel, they were such beautiful dogs, and I put that down to the owners training them so well. I wanted to bring them home with me!

From Wiki: "Boerboel" derives from "boer", the Afrikaans/Dutch word for "farmer". Boerboel, therefore, translates as either "farmer's dog" or "Boer's dog".

That's about the least suspicious to me...dunno where you live, but its been explained that many people, given access to private security on a housing estate, would almost instinctively call them first for a quicker response time. (Many peeps transport sick/injured as opposed to waiting for an ambulance too for the same reason.) We have the same issue here.

On any given day in the UK you can usually find a headline over long wait times for police, fire, and/or ambulance responses. (I blame the bloody roundabouts! :))

ETA: Of course, this doesn't deter from the 'Everything's fine'. That's a massive sticking point for me.
