Fair assumptions, but why wasn't it read out with the other messages etc when the expert was on the stand?

BIB. For the same reason that all 1700 SMS text messages were not read out to or by the expert, the remaining SMS and WhatsApp and iPad data will be read out selectively during the rest of the trial. Very important to remember that the expert clearly stated that all deleted data was recovered! :D.

As Natasya pointed out, Roux will ask OP about any damaging material(s) first, to try to explain them away before Nel gets an opportunity to hammer OP with them.

Here's what seems to be the deal with Whatsapp.

Messages can be backed up to iCloud as Whatsapp do not store any message information themselves.

The investigation team needed access to OP's iCloud storage, and to get that you need to log into it via your Apple ID.

The Apple ID is used to access everything you do with Apple (iTunes, iCloud, Apps, Apple Store etc). This is what they needed.

So, it appears the Legal Reporter at eNCA was spot on.

*things were much simpler when we used pen and paper :dunno:
I would agree .
I hate having to be taught things by my kids but I have at least learnt something new today as well as had a little fun ,both both my kids were looking rather shifty when I kept quizzing them about their Whatsapp
I have a feeling they think I am going to try and hack theirs . They needn't worry though because I would rather not know lol

Hi Dots, I think Val was mentioning a tweet about a week before 14th Feb, where one of Reeva's pals had said, "I want an Oscar" (meaning the award)

Reeva replied, " ok, but you can't have mine" (joking, taking the meaning as HER bloke)

A random girl then replied to Reeva, saying, "You think he's YOURS?? Oh dear, Reeves, Reeves, Reeves . . . QUOTE]

Hiya, yes thanks, I read through Vals tweet too quickly. It was other tweets I was referring to. Sorry:truce:

Ah no problem, sweetie x :-D

It would be interesting to know if he downloaded (carp :floorlaugh:) music regularly .. because if he did, he would more than likely know his apple/itunes/(i-everything!) password.

I'm quite interested in the ladders .. in his bail application he says: "There are no burglar bars across the bathroom window and I knew that contractors who worked at my house had left the ladders outside."

So, going by that he says it's ladders which were left by contractors, and yet it now appears someone lent him the ladders? .. what type of contractors were these and what type of work were they doing, because I don't know about anyone else, but if ever I have had a contractor in to do any work on the outside of my house that requires a ladder, they bring their own ladders with them.

Strangely enough, he doesn't even mention the ladders in his Plea Explanation .. which is odd, considering how important he seemed to think they were at the time, when his imaginary intruder got into the house through the bathroom window.

I know some ladders were found outside, bu I personally think he has concocted a bit of a story around them (did he even have contractors working on his house at the time?), and then decided to leave it out in his later document.
So am I . Contractors would normally have their own ladders and OP does not strike me as the type to do DIY. Have you seen a picture of where they were ?
The friend ( who lent the ladders )and his girlfriend were both at the house after the shooting .
Would love to know if it was before or after the photographers got there .

I don't think it was a butt dial - I think it was OP trying to call security but not being able to speak. Then Baba called back. Those were the only two calls.

Baba misremembered the order of the calls

So now the killer was able to speak and scream like a man and a woman (at the same time), call and speak to Stander, call and speak to Netcare, but suddenly lost his ability to speak to Baba?

Why do you think he lost his ability to speak so quickly, but then amazingly regained in 30 seconds later well enough to tell Baba, "Everything's ok?"

The killer shot and killed Reeva, called Stander but then did not summon police, called Netcare but then did not summon an ambulance, and then told security everything is ok.

Where does the information come from that someone lent OP the ladders?

Just another note re. the apple/itunes/icloud/iblahblahblah password .. people generally do not use a complicated password for such things as that .. i.e. it's not like the type of password you would need for online banking or something like that, and people generally tend to use something more simple and memorable. I think it's unlikely that he forgot what it was .. especially if he actually did use it for things like downloading music, etc.

Well, clearly he is a neighbour, just not next door.

It's a pity they've used such large labels and images on the plan, as they don't show the Stipps' house, for instance. But perhaps they weren't sure where everyone lived.

It may be that Christo M. moved sometime in 2013 and OP now has a new neighbour??

Aha, I think I've got it. Mr Menelaou is "a project manager in the building industry" so perhaps these contractors were employed by him. There is a mention of OP consulting him about a damp problem.

Ah well that could explain it then .

Thank you for finding that. So neighbour, friend and ladders now tie into the story + contractors. LOL

Menelaou was on the witness list and seemed he was commenting about the night of the incident as though he was a very near neighbour. Perhaps he was across the road?

Another interesting point is that Roux quite clearly said that the neighbours either side heard nothing. This was during Stipp's appearance.

The neighbours on both sides were named in the list of witnesses, so I doubt it.

I amended my post whilst you were also posting. See post above your last.

The DRUM article is subscription only, but most of it is reprinted in YOU magazine, can't link because it's a pdf. Google 'Christo Menelaou' and you should be able to find it.

"The defence has questioned Stipp’s memory in this regard, saying Pistorius would testify that a light was not working at the time."

Why do we need OP to testify that the light switch wasn't working? Couldn't the police just flip the light switch and confirm whether it was working or not? Why do we need to hear OP's testimony on this when it could be fabricated.

Did he really?

Why did Mr Nhlengthwa phone security around the same time as Dr Stipp then?

Given all the things at OP's that weren't working or weren't fixed, it makes me wonder what in the world the handyman did all day. Was he a live-in?

The neighbours on both sides were named in the list of witnesses, so I doubt it.

As OP has stated that he knew they were there it goes against OP vulnerability.

My husband berated some contractors for leaving ladders outside our house when we were having our roof done .
This is such a difficult thing to think through .
On the one hand I think him being disabled would clearly would make him more vulnerable but yet he didn't live as such particularly after having some alleged crimes on his property .
If he was as scared as he says I can't understand him not asking Reeva to call for security who would have been there to help in minutes even if he did feel it was best to rush towards them .
Why police and not security ?
Does anyone know if the security guards would be armed ?
I suppose if they aren't then calling for police would make some sense .
