Stoddard says the family went on a vacation over Memorial Day. Chat records show that Leanna wanted Cooper to go on the vacation but Harris did not. He says Cooper did end up going on the vacation..

From Ross' answer in the interrogation room, I think he thought he could sweet talk the officers into letting him go home to grieve. Ross kept bringing up how he worked for a police department in Alabama, he kept using police lingo, etc.

Honestly at that point what could he do? The baby died in his car. He knows he needs to give them the answers they are looking for to avoid obstruction charges or worse. He was hopeful they would let him go home because (based on the tapes) he repeatedly said a he didn't do it on purpose. I feel like he was already being treated as if he did do it on purpose however and he was trying to be cooperative but likable considering he is at their mercy. I think he was trying to let them know he was responsible enough to have that dispatch job and maybe looking for a way for them to relate to him. He also knew everything he said could be used against him so I think he went overboard while responding to everything. Trying to carefully defend himself while also attempting to be helpful. He said way too much because of this.

Off topic - on the Fox5 feed they were still showing the courtroom during the break and there are some ladies behind the State - does anyone know who they are?
Lol - when I first saw the younger one yesterday I thought she looked a lot like, one of the Whisper/Skout/kik ladies that testified!

Harris's main email address was a gmail account, Stoddard says. Bama30067 was another email that Harris used less frequently.

Boring asks whether police discovered a search on the topic of prison. Stoddard says there was a Google search on an undetermined date of "what is prison really like?"

Boring introduces two additional evidence exhibits, and he and defense attorney Maddox Kilgore have a lengthy conversation about what they are and presumably whether they are admissible.

The first exhibit turns out to be a copy of a Google results page in response to the query "what is prison really like?" One of the results is "how to survive in federal prison," Stoddard testifies.

Kilgore establishes that Stoddard performed the Google search in the past week and that the results page he generated may bear no resemblance to the page that a search more than two years ago would have generated. He then points out that the article in question has no date, but Judge Mary Staley Clark overrules him.

I thought this was nipped in the bud by he Orange is the New Black chat with the same buddy who sent him the Reddit link to the "child free life " subreddit?

Stoddard then talks about Harris twice viewing a YouTube video by a veterinarian on the danger of leaving a pet in a hot car, even with the windows rolled down.

According to Stoddard, Harris said, "I would hate for that to happen to my son."

I'm feeling panicky just watching the vet in the car :(

Look at his face. I think it's hitting him how much Cooper suffered.

I just took time out of my day to watch the video of this dude and his ridiculous wife in the interrogation room and I call BULL$#!T. That's what I call.

I have never seen such a bunch of poor acting since the 70s. Like they didn't KNOW they were being watched. And her with her fake, "oh I'm suddenly a professional grief and crisis counselor?" WHATEVER.

HER CHILD JUST DIED.

I'm not buying it. That's the beauty of being this old, I've seen enough of this crap to not believe any of it. Then he just goes from weeping in his shoulder shaking high pitched sob to discussing what he was being charged with.

The TONE of his voice changes and so does his body language when he discusses what he is being charged with. This appears to be his bigger concern.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

I get so upset with stuff like this. They are fortunate I'm not the prosecuting attorney. Lighting would come through the roof of the courthouse.

Moving on...

This goes right along with all the boyfriends and husbands with missing partners who claim, "oh yeah, we did have a fight but I saw her walking down the road at 3AM and that was the last I saw her."

I've been on plenty of farms and I know cow $#!T when I step in it.

Stoddard says during his interview, Harris told them he had recently seen a video about hot cars that was made by veterinarian. Through internet records, they found that Harris had come across the video on the site Reddit.

Boring turns to the big flatscreen monitor in the courtroom and tries to post the YouTube video of the veterinarian talking about how hot it gets in a hot car. "I thought I would put myself in a parked car and let'[s see just how hot it gets," says the vet.

The first reading is 94 degrees. Five minutes in, "we're nearing a hundred degrees already. I can tell you it's stifling in here. Even with the windows cracked between an inch and a half and two inches . . ." Ten minutes in, the temperature in the car is 106. Fifteen minutes: 110 degrees. Twenty minutes: hovering between 110 and 112. Twenty-five minutes: 113.

"It's awful. The only thought that's going through my head right now is I want out of the car. Everything in my body is saying, 'Get out! Get out! Get out!' He notes that his shirt is now drenched with his sweat. "You're helpless. You have no control over what's happening. You just know that your body is so overheated that you can be in real danger. I mean, this kills, and it's a lousy way to die." Thirty minutes: 116 degrees.

Harris squeezes his eyes shut and appears to be near tears.

The court takes its midafternoon recess.

Jumping off of this post - was it ever testified to what RH said happened during the last call (the 5 minute one)?

I believe he said he didn't speak with anyone. If the call was bounced around from the main switch line to the room and back to the main line ( this is total speculation) then that's not a lie.

This video of the drive.

On the drive to the turn off, Little Apron or Home Depot? The visual triggers are astounding. It's laid bare right in front our eyes. GA_Peach I understand why you wanted us to see your video. I did anyway, but js.

I had coffee in my hand, taking my second sip when he got to where he should have taken the left turn for the Daycare. The second sip. The visuals speak volumes on their own, the time taken to get to the turn-off is stomach-dropping.

The video of Harris arguing the toss about the charges the way he did - "How is that against the law"? (wow) - is not a person broken and confused by what's just happened to his son. Compare and contrast this behaviour to the people Dr Diamond testified for in the past. They didn't care what happened to them, they were consumed by what they had done to their children. Harris is stoic and level-headed enough to argue the point, then throw in he can't think straight when DS doesn't budge.

This man is stating 'I can't spend 30 days in jail, I can't spend one night in jail, I need to see my brother (the cop), I need to spend time comforting my family'. I, I, I. It's clear from the way he's arguing the bit, Harris did not expect to even be questioned to this extent. He's used to talking his way out of trouble, that's clear.

We've learned quite a bit more today. Intrigued at what the new evidence is, and really interested to see what tack DT takes on cross. Kilgore's getting increasingly rattled as the day goes on.

Got to say, LE jumped on RH very quickly, treated him harshly, gave no compassionate pause to his potential state of mind/behaviour. No question. RH's behaviour(s) obviously raised LE's hackles from the very off. Why this particular man? Were their initial instincts/suspicions completely and utterly wrong? Not from what I've seen. I can't wait for cross.

As it stands, I believe LE got this right.

I am having trouble finding a way to get my video on here. It appears that I need to upliaf the video somwhere else and think it on here. As an FYI, my video is from the Treehouse to CFA, which is Ross's reverse route. Unfortunately, it's also very shaky. I am not known for steady hands!

Yes, HD Corporate is visually astounding. Unless JRH was looking down at his phone, I don't know how he missed Cooper's daycare.

I'm on a roll with quoting you today, lol.

I don't often watch trials. Why would the defense need to subpoena Stoddard? Doesn't he get to question him on cross?

He does, but I thinkone of the others can explain better the diff of Direct and Cross than me lol(it wont come out right)

I'm catching up on the today's trial. I personally don't know why tossing the Publix receipt is a big deal except to show proof he actually went there for lunch. Ross didn't lie about that.

I'm thinking Ross tossed the receipt because he wasn't sure which one it was. He took the chance, perhaps, that it was the lightbulb receipt and tossed it.

Whatever the case, it's weird that he tossed anything from the table.

Probably helps explain why Kilgore smiled when he reviewed this incredibly weak search history "evidence" before it was admitted.

You'd think the State would have learned after "child-free" blew up in their faces, lol.

IIRC these were the vanity round type lightbulbs for a bathroom. Those things are not cheap - I have them in two of our bathrooms. I consider them rather fragile, even within their package. I would not haphazardly toss them into the car while standing completely erect. I would bend to ensure that they were safe. Maybe if I had a sack full of nails, I might toss them in.

JMHO I think he may have put possibly put in his seat, They didnt say they were broken when entered into evidence.
And on the bending down, HD security guy iirc didnt think he bent down.

Really, really, unbelievable Staley let the video be played, imo. Doesn't get any more prejudicial than that. I knew from early on she leaned towards the State, but some of her rulings imo go beyond that into just plain 'ole bad evidentiary calls.

Quoting myself. :)

Perhaps he knew it was the lunch receipt, but tossed it as a way of not wanting to face that he knew at lunchtime that Cooper was in the car. I do think he knew at lunch. Without the receipt, perhaps he could avoid talking about lunchtime.

That intersection is a very typical Atlanta intersection. It probably does appear overwhelming to those of you not from Atlanta, especially if you live in a small town. I think a field trip to the area would have secured a guilty verdict (at least for felony murder).

The main HD number gives you an immediate option to type in an extension. Toddler Room 5 has a dedicated extension. The calls do not require a human operator and are transferred immediately. This call does not make any sense. There has to be a logical explanation.

Phone recods don't lie; people do.

Ah....my mulberry bush partner. :D

What date was the video viewed? It will be interesting to see how the defense explains why this was his biggest fear. Clearly a lot of people fear this hence the look twice public service announcement here in GA before June 18th or opting to leave a purse or briefcase in the back seat to force yourself to look in the backseat. I do the purse thing. But I believe this can happen to anyone if they are distracted and taken off routine. I have read kidsanscars.org multiple times since the RH arrest. If god forbid anything ever happened to any of my children, even unrelated to a car, you better bet your bottom dollar my posts on this thread would be introduced as well as any related searches to hot car death. Some officers jump to conclusions instead of waiting and evaluating all of the information. I understand they see awful things that lead them to see the worst in situations but you can't force a circle into a square because you are convinced it fits.
