As evidence photos show, he would put his briefcase on the floor of the passenger side seat. He would have to turn to the right to right to grab it. Not only was Cooper was too large for his car seat, JRH is tall enough to see down into the car seat when he went to grab his briefcase.
To me, that is one of the most damning things---that he reached across to the passenger side, and never saw his son a few inches away and in-between the two seats. It was such a short amount of time and such a short distance, and the car seat was only inches away. That makes it very hard to believe he was unaware of the baby.
Especially given the fact that his and his wife's 'greatest fear' was leaving Cooper to die in a hot car. If that really was his greatest fear in life, why didn't he just turn his head a few inches and look at the baby seat?
