After the jury leaves, Judge Staley Clark speaks with the parties about drafting a "charging order" -- the instructions the judge gives the jury before it begins deliberation -- and says the court will need a verdict form. Apparently the end of the trial is not imminent; Staley Clark says it's moving smoothly and she wants to be prepared when the time comes.

This is part of every trial. They hash out what is going to be said .. exact wording. They may even argue over it on the record. If anyone remembers the Geo Zimmerman trial, they got heated a few times over that. JMHO

He completely blows up the entire premise of the State's case.

I don't think so. I saw a guy that was supposed to be Ross's very best friend---the one that Ross supposedly confided in, and reached out to---and Ross was deceiving him as well. This guy had no clue of the depths that Ross had fallen.

Ross was holding on tightly to his darkest secrets

What percentage of people who visit prostitutes tell their friends?

Sorry, maybe it's PTSD, but the feel of the thing is very much like Nurmi going after the good Bishop. Part of it is Boring's tone of voice-- oh my did he angry with this last witness-- but, no, actually, I don't agree he needed to ask each one of them multiple sex-related questions to make his point.

Boring is trying to get a reaction (his job) when he throws stuff out there like he has. Try to trip people up with the way they are asking questions. Each Def witness as paused, thought about how and what the actual question was, prior to answering, and if unsure of question witness asks State to explain or ask again :) But he has not gotten the reaction he has tried to many many times. Like when he went over the May 31, 2014 text messages between LH and RH. Then asked her if she knew that was the day and time RH met with the prostitute. She held her composure and went right along with her testimony. To blame witnesses as the State has tried to do about being rehearsed is kinda funny in a way. Kilgore is prepared. State is showing time and time again they weren't JMHO

Nope. This guy did not have a clue to most of what Ross had done.

See post #273 for why I think that doesn't matter, even if entirely accurate.

Just curious, if Ross had told all his buddies that he was cheating on his wife, and sexting teens, would it make anyone feel like he was a better person? Would it still not be a 'double life'?

The idea that you cannot truly *know* a person unless you know every secret about them, means that not one of my friends or family members knows me or can vouch for the type of person I am. I find that pretty silly.

If I was planning on murdering my family member, I'd book a trip with them too.

I just wanted to say, simply putting a good guy on the stand doesn't make the evidence against JRH go away.

If anything, it reinforces that JRH had no intention of changing his behavior and that most people were manipulated into enabling him.

Like GA_Peach, the more witnesses the defense calls the less patient I am getting. At this point, I want to write off the defense's case as a screaming farce. Just because JRH did web design for AIDs outreach does not make JRH an advocate for AIDs patients. FGS. Didn't some of our own websleuths uncover medhelp posts where he was obsessing about a rash and said he was worried about being HIV positive because of sleeping with an escort? Does that sound like someone who is enlightened about HIV?

I looked up the thread, here it is:

Well, unlike his friends and family and coworkers, we know a great many of RH's dirty little secrets, and imo what's becoming sillier by the day is the State's argument that his dirty little secrets made Ross capable of murdering Cooper.

interesting he chooses AIDS as his good deed when he also fancied glory holes. Im just saying, we may find out Ross will have an entire new life if he gets the chance to see the light of day outside prison walls someday

If I was planning on murdering my family member, I'd book a trip with them too.

Agreed - the defense's assertions that JRH could not have done this because he was booking a cruise, planning a birthday party, ect does not ring true because murderers aren't going to spell out their plans and drop everything in their life. We aren't going to find a dossier with a written confession signed in blood.

Kirkpatrick testified to the fact that JRH was on an "even keel" no matter how stressed out he was - this not only bombs the forgotten baby syndrome idea, it shows that he's capable of going on with his life while Cooper was dying in the car.

Unfortunately, all this will be overshadowed by the presumption that JRH is too upper class and too much of an outgoing social butterfly, special snowflake, and bumbling genius to be held accountable for his behavior.

If your premise for forgetting your child in the car is that he was sleeping, would you say the child was speaking to you before putting him in his carseat?

I'm beginning to think that the only defense testimony that rang true was from Leanna when she ended with:

He destroyed my life. I’m humiliated. I may never trust anybody again, the way that I did. If I never see him again after this day, that’s fine.”

Too bad she didn't start her testimony with that line of thinking, it's a shame every other friend/family member didn't have the guts to say it themselves.

Each of them rang true to me

A quick question: do you think someone from the ghetto or trailer park would ever get the same level of defense JRH is getting, and would they ever be described as unique individuals with talents, hopes, dreams, needs, ect?

We're all unique. We all have hopes and dreams. We all have hobbies. We're all humans with needs and feelings. Nothing sets JRH a part from anyone else except the perception that he is somehow more valuable or credible than other people, even when all credibility is blown through a mountain of evidence.

The "special snowflake" defense blindsided me. I guess I should have seen it coming, though.
If speaking of Kilgore/Def, as being his attorneys, are aware that this was a paid for private attorney prior to RH being found indigent. Then the state appointed picked up the bill. It happens all the time. In Arron Lewis case he had a lawyer, then wanted to represent self then wanted (lots of back story) but because he was indigent, the State had to provide. His codefendant his wife was being represented by the County Public Defenders office. It would be a conflict of interest to represent Lewis too. So they had to go to the State Public Defenders office. Private Practice Lawyers sign on to do work for the these agencies as well as their own firm. Lewis go Bill James a high profile lawyer, who was paid for by the State Public Defenders office. JMHO I believe the same sort of situation is what now with Kilgore.

As far as how his friends, coworkers, church friends and family describe him, vs how you ask others would be described. This is about JRH. Seems like some prejudice of some sort trying to be alluded to in your comment. Sorry if I misunderstood. "The "special snowflake" defense blindsided me. I guess I should have seen it coming, though."

I do not want to be crude or unkind to the gay community, my brother was gay and died of AIDS in 1994. I loved him dearly. He had issues though and thought none of us every accepted him. I was 12 years younger than him. My mom said he didnt accept himself. Back then being gay was very challenging. Bless him I wish he were here now to see the changes.

Now to my theory. I could be wrong, very wrong but I started getting hints Ross may be just that, gay and has failed to deal with it from the get- go. He may have married and had a child like his parents probably wanted him to do. He is from the south like me and this is the bible belt. Still many people do not respect the alternative lifestyles. When I heard he had a male escort/friend whoever it was and then found out he told someone he went to glory holes, it pretty much sealed it for me. The multiple partners could be a sign too. Sometimes when a man wants to lean in that direction they over compensate by having many sex partners.

I think this man wanted to leave his wife and be free of his child on the surface but my guess is if he could, he would be at least ac/dc. I think the guy has major issues in the mental department. I am so sorry Cooper had to loose his life before it was discovered.

And possible recall witnesses...Dr Frist is on recall we don't know why or if will be called. LEO possible still to be brought back. But yep soon.

Yesterday, Kilgore made the Judge aware that State has not given him the information from last week about the FBI stuff Stoddard got, Boring told her "he forgot" and would get it to them. This morning she asked Boring again and he is going to work on getting that to Def asap. So Stoddard is going to be brought back on that. He went to the FBI BAU and got stuff a huge binder of stuff. The Def was not made aware of this until iirc it was last Monday or Monday prior. Same day they found out about the rescan of the car seat done with Mr. Dustin. Could be a reason why they are out early today, Def needs that info to prepare for Direct on Stoddard about it. JMHO **State ddn't want to give them anything on FBI stuff to begin with, they are dragging their feet on it. Or appeared so.

Hmm. Not sure it meant the DT plans on recalling Stoddard, but one can only hope.:D

What I heard was Kilgore wanting everything about that potential Brady violation put on the record, including the fact the State still had not turned over the material, despite Boring's committing to the Court he would do so, on a date that had already passed.

Duh me. I just understood your point, sorry, that RH telling (just some) of his "sexual sins" to this one friend doesn't mean he didn't have a double life, etc. Right?

But that's not what i was referring to. What I was referring to was the State's use of the "deep dark secret life" meme as their principal narrative relating to RH being capable of malice murder, complete with dark, unexplained hints about RH's interest in secret rooms.

It's like telling a ghost story, and all the sudden someone turned on the lights. The story just doesn't sound or feel the same, even if the words are identical. For me, it wasn't the content of what this friend had to say so much as his forthright, unashamed, unapologetic treatment of the subject matter itself.

As in, yep, RH was a sexual sinner, and rightfully ashamed of it . Next?

A light being turned on.

His bestest closest friend knew almost nothing about Ross's dirty secrets.
