so, this trial by tweet is not so bad...eh? It is not like video but it is real time and better than nothing.

It seems to be going smoothly now.....

I have to say that although I appreciate all the posts and info, when I click that THANKS button, I feel bad -- obviously not about the poster but about the post :(

Yes Nursebeeme, definitely better than nothing, don't care for the **** defense tactics that are coming our way but have been waiting for that motif for years

Are they saying then, that there is no video of MR with Tori? No witnesses to directly say that MR was with Tori? Is their case against him circumstantial and if so, will it be as effective as direct witnesses / video would be in helping to gain a conviction?

They have TLM. She was with them. She is supposed to testify. She will be an effective witness, in my opinion.

Nobody can argue that things are not being monitored, anyway.

Justice Thomas Heeney explains that the jury, public and media were excused yesterday because a report surfaced suggesting a relative of a jury member posted a Facebook message which quoted the juror making disparaging remarks about accused. Judge said report proved false.

Judge says relative was of a potential juror so no impact on jury or case #Rafferty #sl

The matter has been closed. But judge reminds jury to not communicate details of trial to anyone. #sl #rafferty

Judge makes order to exclude witnesses from courtroom except when called to testify with the exception of several police officers.

Crown calls Det. Const. Robin Brocanier with the OPP, who became involved with the search for Tori Stafford on April 15, 2009. His major function was overseeing video surveillance seized in and around Woodstock, Ont.

by Jon Hembrey3/6/2012 3:59:54 PM 10:59 A

Brocanier says he did not have any expertise in video surveillance but was aware he could access experts if he found a video clip that was "deemed important."

There are 32 video cameras in the area near Oliver Stephens. All were reviewed.

Well yes, of course they have TLM - I hope she will be an effective witness! I wasn't sure what to think when the Crown said yesterday that her credibility is questionable (or however they worded it). Based on just what the Crown has given so far by way of an opening statement, and the chapters they plan to address - I'm hopeful we'll get a guilty verdict. It will be hard for MR's team to explain why his voicemail was checked near the area where the remains were found, how the blood got in his car etc....

And if he was NOT the one who killed her - it still sounds like he was there, and failed to protect or rescue that kid! And of course... there is still the matter of the sexual assault charges. :(

My stomach is in knots and I never met the kid -- I cannot imagine what her family / friends / loved ones must feel. My heart breaks for each of them. For Daryn in particular. :(

makes me wonder who is monitoring things online (fb, ws perhaps and the multitude of other sites!). The defence? Are they going to try to say he didn't have a fair trial due to the media and social networking factors?

I wonder how they even came across such a post? How was it brought to counsel's attention in the first place and by whom?

#Rafferty - Rodney would thank Tori's teacher if he could for her courage in testifying him today.

I was also a bit taken aback by that too. However, it's certain that the defence plans to throw TLM's credibility into question, so I think the prosecution is just taking the wind out of their sails. There was no special deal for her. "Life" is 25 years (although her cooperation will certainly look good at parole time). No reason for her to lie.
