*Bench Trial set to begin (@ 10am ET) – NY - New York vs. Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr. & Eric Trump & the Trump Organization, Inc. (Allen Weisselberg & Jeffrey McConney) is being sued by Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, who is leading a civil investigation (which cannot result in criminal charges filed on 9/21/22) & has spent years looking at whether the company committed various acts of fraud over several decades. In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & three of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.

The these four defendants are charged with aiding & abetting Leveille & conspiring with her to commit the offense. (Violating federal firearms & conspiracy laws). All plead not guilty.
*Maryam Jany Leveille (35/now 40) (wife of Siraj) charged, a Haitian national, with being in the U.S. illegally & unlawfully in possession of firearms & ammunition from Oct. 2017 thru Aug. 2018 & 2 count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, 2 counts of conspiracy to murder an officer or employee of the U.S., conspiracy to commit kidnapping & kidnapping. Possessing a firearm while unlawfully in the U.S. & 1 count of the conspiracy charges have been dismissed for all defendants on 9/21/23. Plead not guilty.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced it would not seek the death penalty against the four facing kidnapping charges.
*Maryam Jany Leveille plead guilty to a federal firearms charge & a conspiracy charge & faces up to 15 years in prison. She admitted acting with her four co-defendants to transport firearms from Georgia to New Mexico “for use in establishing a firearms & military tactics training range,” according to the plea agreement. Under the agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining charges against Leveille following sentencing, which has not been scheduled.
Trial began on 9/25/23 with jury selection which was completed. Jury: 7 men & 5 women.

(13) (last seen alive on July 18, 2017 at a local Tim Hortons, Burney B.C. & her body was found 5 hours later on July 19, 2017 in Burnaby’s Central Park, Vancouver) - *Ibrahim Ali (28/now 32) arrested & charged (9/7/18) & indicted (11/25/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Police used a new & somewhat controversial “DNA dragnet” technique, after collecting DNA at the crime scene that indicated a suspect of Middle Eastern descent. (He is a Syrian refugee who entered Canada 3 months before murder).
Trial began on 3/17/23 with jury selection & ended on 3/23/23.
Trial began on 4/5/23 & continued on 4/11/23. (expected to run thru June 30 & changed (5/17/23) maybe thru September).

Jordan Piper is accused of secretly recording videos of a girl using the bathroom & bathing at his home in the months before Roman disappeared in Placerville, according to a filed FBI affidavit. His criminal case in El Dorado County stemming from his son’s death is still pending.

Summary Judgement. NY State Court Judge Engoron has granted partial summary judgment to the Ny attorney general, finding that Trump is liable on top fraud count of NYAG business fraud lawsuit. Judge Engoron wrote that the documents uncovered in the case “clearly contain fraudulent valuations that defendants used in business,” and none of Trump’s defenses hold up, including his claim that he could always find a “buyer from Saudi Arabia” for one property or that measuring square footage is a “subjective process.” The judge pointed to several Trump properties that were overvalued, including Mar-A-Lago, a building on Park Avenue, an estate in Westchester County & his penthouse in Trump Tower—which had an inflated square footage even after Forbes asked him about the exaggeration, Engoron notes. As a result, Judge Engoron canceled several of Trump’s business certificates & ordered the dissolution of Trump-related LLCs. The second orders that "within 10 days of the date of this order, the parties are directed to recommend the names of no more than three potential independent receivers to manage the dissolution of the canceled LLCs." Judge Engoron also sanctioned several of Trump’s attorneys $7,500 for making arguments the court had repeatedly tossed out.

9/19/23 Tuesday, Bench Trial: The judge handling the bench trial said he would like to have closing arguments sometime during the first two weeks of October. Since it is a bench trial, it will be a judge instead of a jury determining the verdict. Both sides are due back in court on Tuesday, 9/19/23 to discuss scheduling of closing arguments. It is unclear how soon the judge could rule after hearing closing arguments. Trial will continue on 10/13/23 for closing arguments.
*JoAnn D. Cunningham (35/38 when sentenced/now 40) – 12/5/19: Plead guilty. Sentenced on 7/17/20 to 35 years in prison. Post conviction petition hearing on 6/1/22. Post conviction petition denied/dismissed.

*Maryam Jany Leveille (35/now 40) (wife of Siraj) plead guilty to a federal firearms charge & a conspiracy charge & faces up to 15 years in prison. She admitted acting with her four co-defendants to transport firearms from Georgia to New Mexico “for use in establishing a firearms & military tactics training range,” according to the plea agreement. Under the agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining charges against Leveille following sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

(Allen Weisselberg & Jeffrey McConney) is being sued by Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, who is leading a civil investigation (which cannot result in criminal charges filed on 9/21/22) & has spent years looking at whether the company committed various acts of fraud over several decades. In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & two of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.

10/13/23 Update: Michael Cohen has surprised the New York Attorney General’s office by potentially canceling his court appearance next week—citing a medical issue, according to two sources familiar with the situation. Because Cohen was due to appear in this high stakes court case pursuant to a subpoena, he can’t get out of his scheduled testimony so easily. He’ll have to provide a doctor’s note.

Van der Sloot allegedly asked for a total of $250K for the information, with $25K to be paid up front & the rest being paid when Natalee's remains were positively identified in Aruba. She was officially declared dead by Alabama courts on Jan. 12, 2012. Plead not guilty. Held without bond in Shelby County jail.
Van der Sloot is serving 28 years in a Peruvian prison for the murder of Stephany Flores. Has served 10 years as of 2/17/23. Van der Sloot was sentenced (1/10/23) to another 18 years for drug smuggling, New sentence means he will remain in jail until 2045. Another article says release date is June, 2038.

(Federal Case) (@ 9am MT) – NM – 11 children (ages 1 to 15 found August 3, 2018 in filthy NM compound, Amalia) - *Siraj Ibn Wahhaj (39/now 45), Laqman Lucas Allen Morton (40/now 45), Subhannah Wahhaj (35/now 40) (8 mos. pregnant back in 8/31/18) (wife of Morton) & Hujrah Wahhaj (35/now 40) (sister of Siraj) arrested (8/31/18) & indicted (9/12/18) & re charged & indicted (3/14/19) & arraigned (3/21/19) by FBI with 2 counts of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, 2 counts of conspiracy to murder an Officer or employee of the U.S. (except Subhannah & Hujrah only 1 count), possessing a firearm while unlawfully in the U.S., conspiracy to commit kidnapping (except Siraj) & kidnapping (except Siraj). The these four defendants are charged with aiding & abetting Leveille & conspiring with her to commit the offense. (Violating federal firearms & conspiracy laws). All plead not guilty. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced it would not seek the death penalty against the four facing kidnapping charges.

10/17/23 Tuesday, Trial Day 14, Verdict: Jurors reached their decision after deliberating for two-and-a-half days. The jury reached a guilty verdict for all the defendants in the case on Tuesday. Siraj Wahhaj was found guilty of all his charges. His two sisters, Hujrah & Subhannah, were also found guilty of kidnapping. Lucas Morton was guilty of terrorism charges, conspiracy to commit kidnapping & kidnapping that resulted in the boy’s death. A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.

*Maryam Jany Leveille (35/now 40) (wife of Siraj) plead guilty to a federal firearms charge & a conspiracy charge & faces up to 15 years in prison. She admitted acting with her four co-defendants to transport firearms from Georgia to New Mexico “for use in establishing a firearms & military tactics training range,” according to the plea agreement. Under the agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining charges against Leveille following sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

Wednesday, October 18th:
*Plea & Sentencing Hearing (@ 9:30 am CT) - AL - U.S. Federal case - For crimes of extortion ($250K) & wire fraud against Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Holloway. *Joran Andreas Petrus Van Der Sloot (22 @ time of crime/35/now 36) being federally indicted & charged (7/30/10) & arraigned (6/9/23) with extortion & wire fraud after he allegedly tried to sell information regarding the location of Natalee's body to Beth Holloway. Van der Sloot allegedly asked for a total of $250K for the information, with $25K to be paid up front & the rest being paid when Natalee's remains were positively identified in Aruba. She was officially declared dead by Alabama courts on Jan. 12, 2012. Plead not guilty. Held without bond in Shelby County jail.
Van der Sloot is serving 28 years in a Peruvian prison for the murder of Stephany Flores. Has served 10 years as of 2/17/23. Van der Sloot was sentenced (1/10/23) to another 18 years for drug smuggling, New sentence means he will remain in jail until 2045. Another article says release date is June, 2038.
Alabama: Federal Judge Karon Bowdre recused herself from the case on Wednesday, 5/17/23 & Judge Anna M. Manasco was assigned to the *case. Court hearings will take place in Birmingham, Alabama in Jefferson County. Prosecuted by Lloyd Peeples, chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Criminal Division & Assistant U.S. Attorney Catherine Crosby. Van der Sloot’s is Federal public defender Kevin Buler.

10/17/23 Update: Latest News: van der Sloot has confessed to the American authorities that he killed Natalee Holloway. His confession will be announced during a court case in Alabama in the United States on Wednesday. The FBI has investigated Van der Sloot’s confession in recent months & considers it credible, partly due to a lie detector test he took last week. The Dutchman’s confession means that the United States prosecutor now considers the case around Holloway’s disappearance solved. In exchange for his confession & an admission of guilt for extorting Holloway’s family, the prosecutor in Alabama offered Van der Sloot a reduced sentence of 20 years in prison. If the court approves the deal on Wednesday, Van der Sloot will be flown back to Peru to serve the rest of his sentence for murdering Stephany Flores & drug smuggling. That sentence ends in 2045. 10/18/23 Update: Van der Sloot plead guilty to federal extortion & wire fraud charges & to lying about the location of Natalee's body in exchange for money from her family. He has agreed to assist law enforcement, thru a profer, with their investigations into his wire fraud, as well as into the disappearance of Natalee. He has agreed to allow his defrief to be played in court. As a part of the plea deal, van der Sloot agreed to a polygraph test & agreed to provide information about Holloway's disappearance to Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway. Van der Sloot apologized in court to the Holloway family & his own family, and he hopes "the statement that I provided will provide some kind of closure." Beth Holoway gave a victim impact statement. The Judge has sentenced van der Sloot to 240 months (20 years) to run concurrently with his sentence in Peru.

10/20/23 Update: *NY Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron tore into Trump on Friday for failing to delete a post attacking his clerk on his campaign page, weeks after the imposition of a gag order (ordered on 10/3/23). “I learned that the subject offending post was never removed from the donaldjtrump.com & in fact, has been on the website for the past 17 days,” Judge Engoron remarked from the bench, asking why Trump shouldn’t face “serious sanctions” for his "blatant violation of the gag order," such as fines or “possibly imprisoning him.” Trump's attorney Christopher Kise described the development as an "inadvertent" result of the crossposting of his social media messages on his website. After Trump's lawyers provided their account of what transpired, Engoron & law clerk Greenfield whispered to each other & left the development on a cliffhanger. Engoron said he would take the matter "under advisement."
*A motion filed late Thursday, 10/19/23 by Ivanka Trump that seeks to quash three subpoenas that would compel her to testify in the trial. *Trial set to begin (@ 9am ET) - NY – Susan Trott (70) (Oct. 21, 2018, New York City) – *Anya Johnston (24/now 28) was indicted (10/30/18), arrested & charged (10/31/18) & arraigned (11/2/18) with murder (intentional). Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Anya had a history of mental health problems & was institutionalized in 2014 & 2016 for erratic behavior. Johnston’s early years in a Russian orphanage, where she’d been adopted. Johnston is currently hospitalized at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s undergoing psychiatric evaluation.

Plead not guilty. $1.05M bond.

10/10/23 Update: Sentencing hearing was rescheduled on 10/23/23 @ 9am.
10/23/23 Update: A federal judge on Monday sentenced a father, who faces murder & child abuse charges in the 2020 death of his 11-year-old son, to 15 years in prison for sexually exploiting a girl at his California home in the months before the boy disappeared in Placerville. U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb sentenced Piper to the required minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, which was recommended by both his defense attorney & the federal prosecutor. But they disagreed on how long his parole should be. Assistant U.S. Attorney Roger Yang asked for Piper to serve 15 years on parole once he’s released from prison. Tasha Paris Chalfant, Piper’s attorney, asked the court for five years of parole for her client. Judge Shubb ordered Piper to serve 15 years in prison for child sexual exploitation & 7 ½ years on parole. In addition to prison & parole sentences, Shubb also ordered Piper to register with authorities as a convicted sex offender & provide a DNA sample when ordered by a probation officer.

10/25/23 Wednesday, Jury Selection Day 10: 1 juror selected.
During selection, the prosecution has used seven peremptory challenges & the defense has used six, meaning they excuse potential jurors without needing to provide a reason. Each side gets 12 of these challenges.

(@ 9am PT) – CA – Denise Lampe (19) (April 1, 1976, Daly City) – *Leon Melvin Seymour (30 @ time of crime/72/now 76) charged (11/16/18) & arraigned (12/18/18) with 1st degree murder with use of deadly weapon, 1 count of attempt or use of deadly weapon, 1 count of torture & 1 count to 2 prior offenses (enhancement). Plead not guilty. $10M bond. No bond (12/14/18).
Is being housed at Coalinga State Hospital as a sexually violent predator for other kidnappings & sexually assaults going back decades. DNA match.
Trial began on 3/2/20. Put on hold 3/16/20 due to coronavirus. Restart on 7/8/20, and was continued to 10/13/20 (Day 9) thru 10/16/20 (Day 11). Trial was set to begin on 10/12/21 was vacated due to mental incompetency.
Trial began on 10/5/23 & ended on 10/17/23. Jury found Seymour guilty.

10/27/23 Update: More than 47 years after a 19-year-old Denise was found stabbed to death in Daly City, a jury took about one hour Friday, Oct. 27, to deliver a guilty plea for Leon Melvin Seymour in a once-cold case brought to justice by investigators who thought to test an old jacket for DNA. Seymour, a 77-year-old inmate at Coalinga State Hospital for many other kidnappings & sexual assaults going back to the 1970s, could only participate in the trial for about three hours a day because he is physically disabled. He was housed at the San Mateo Medical Center for the duration of the 17-day trial, according to District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe. Probation Report & Sentencing hearing on 12/1/23 @ 10:30am.

*Sigfredo Garcia (34/now 40) – 10/10/19: Found guilty of 1st degree murder. Guilty of conspiracy. Not guilty of solicitation. Sentenced to LWOP for murder plus 30 years for conspiracy charge. 11/4/19: Motion to Withdraw as Counsel: Mauricio Padilla; Motion to Withdraw as Counsel: Saam Zangeneh. His appeal was denied.
*Luis Rivera (33/now 39) charged with 1st degree murder. Took a plea deal (Oct. 2016) & plead guilty to 2nd degree murder. Testified against Garcia & Magbanua. Will receive 19-year sentence to run concurrently with his 12 year Federal time, which he is already serving.

*Bench Trial continues (Day 19) (@ 10am ET) – NY - New York vs. Donald J. Trump (76/now 77), Donald Trump, Jr. (45) & Eric Trump (38/now 39) & the Trump Organization, Inc. (Allen Weisselberg (75/now 76) & Jeffrey McConney) are being sued by Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, who is leading a civil investigation (which cannot result in criminal charges filed on 9/21/22) & has spent years looking at whether the company committed various acts of fraud over several decades. In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & two of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.

10/27/23 Friday, Bench Trial Day 18: Judge Engoron heard arguments on whether Ivanka Trump must take witness stand. Late last week, Ivanka Trump fought to quash her subpoena, noting that she is no longer a defendant in the case — or a New York City resident. New York State Attorney General Letitia James argued late on Thursday that the former president’s daughter “remains financially and professionally intertwined” with her father’s company and “can be called as a person still under their control.” The former president's lawyer Christopher Kise scoffed at that notion. The state's attorneys argue that Ivanka Trump's business ties to New York remain considerable. After roughly hour-long oral arguments, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron retired to his chambers, announcing that he would deliver his ruling from the bench at 10:35 a.m.
Ivanka Trump must testify in AG's fraud trial in person, Justice Engoron rules. Despite being dismissed from the case, the judge finds she conducted business & owns property in NY & failed to submit evidence to rebut that. She can appeal & won't testify before 11/1/23.

NY Attorney General Letitia James will likely rest her case against Trump during the week of Nov. 6 following at least four days of testimony from Trump & his children. State attorney Kevin Wallace told Judge Arthur Engoron that the state plans to call Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday, 11/1/23 followed by Eric & Ivanka Trump on the following Thursday, 11/2/23 & Friday, 11/3/23, respectively. The state’s final witness, Trump, will likely begin his direct examination on Monday, 11/6/23, according to Wallace. Trump’s lawyer, Chris Kise previously said that he plans to recall some Trump Organization witnesses for the defense’s own case, meaning the trial is likely to stretch into November or later before concluding.\

10/9/23 Update: Sherri Papini was due in court on Monday for a trial readiness conference in her divorce proceedings but did not make an appearance. Papini's lawyer said in court on Monday that he had yet to meet with his client since her release & did not know where she was, but he had plans to meet her later this week. Court records show that the divorce trial between Sherri & her estranged husband, Keith, is scheduled for Oct. 31. The trial readiness conference that had been scheduled for Monday is now rescheduled for 10/23/23.
