Troubled country singer Mindy McCready, RIP

For all we know she could have fallen down the steps, fallen in a tub or been in a car accident in one of her drug and alcohol fueled stupors.

the internet is full of literature that supports that using alcohol and/or drugs, or withdrawal from these substances can also also cause seizures and damage to the brain... so imo, any of the above could possibly be the cause... ??

yes-- where is the evidence brain damage was caused by BMK?

and speaking of BMK, she had a restraining order to not see him after he beat her within an inch of her life and she still continued to see him and even got pregnant by him? talk about making bad decisions!*

a very interesting LKL from 2005: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0511/11/lkl.01.html

*an ex merely threatened to hit me and i made sure i never saw or spoke with him again ;)

Like most women of abuse, she believed he was "sorry" and took him back.

It happens in MOST abuse cases.

And it's comments like this that cause women to blame themselves and to stay quiet about abuse and end up dead.

People really should educate themselves about the vicious cycle of abuse before blaming the victim.

Horrible!

Makes sense to me.Of course no one in the celebrity world would want to admit those possibilities as a possible cause of brain damage.

IMO

I just think Mindy had a lot of people who could have helped her & she chose not to get that help. She did go back to a man who tried to kill her,My husband tried to kill me and I left for good and never saw him again-there was no way he was going to get other chance to do it again!
Mindy had money to get help & to walk away-but she still chose to go back to a guy who tried to kill her-that to me is just mind boggling..why in god's name would a woman do that?
It makes no sense to me why she did!

Read up on the cycle of abuse and you will find out why in God's name a woman (and MOST women) would do that.

It has nothing to do with money.

Domestic Violence and Self-Esteem - Low Self-Esteem Linked to Domestic Violence:

If victims of domestic violence have low self-esteem, it can cause them to stay in an abusive relationship. This can lead to serious injuries and even death.

Women with low self-esteem feel that they cannot do better than the situation they are in, which makes them far less likely to leave than a woman who has high self-esteem and can stand up for herself.

Women don’t leave because of fear and self-esteem. Most women, if we ask them to say the truth, are fearful of going out on their own. It’s a self-esteem issue primarily that is compounded by fear that they can’t make it alone without their batterer.

I'm not good enough-- The world through a low self-esteem lens:

I’ve only had good self-esteem for almost six years. The difference between me now and back then is that I believe I’m a person of value, that’s worthwhile and worthy of being treated decently and I have enough confidence in myself that I will do whatever it takes to behave in line with that value and steer clear of anything or anyone that detracts from me. That’s the very basics of self-esteem.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/...omestic-violence-coalition-loses-a-voice.html

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence is mourning the loss of what has been a powerful voice in their behalf. Country singer Mindy McCready's death, an apparent suicide, has silenced one of their most effective voices.

“We worked with her after she left an abusive relationship to raise awareness about domestic violence, and she used her incredible voice to carry a message to other survivors that was a powerful call to keep struggling to get free.”

Smith noted that, “For many people who experience abuse, the effects can continue to be devastating for many years in the future.”

Prayers going up for all who love Mindy today as they say their goodbyes at her funeral.

I pray it goes well without any drama and that the media vultures will keep their distance or at least show respect.

Here is link to why women stay.

i'm confused-- in the first quoted post you claim that the reasons why a woman remains in an abusive relationship have "nothing to do with money" but then in the second quoted post you include a link to an article titled "why do abuse victims stay?" which includes "economic dependence on the abuser"... a contradiction, no?

MM's family finds no fault with dr. drew:

White (MM's cousin) also thanked a list of friends who went "above and beyond" for McCready, including Dr. Drew Pinsky, the "Celeb Rehab" host who attempted to help McCready and reached out to her in the days after Wilson's death.

the article also states authorities are still investigating both deaths... interesting to say the least...
