TURKEY - George Smith, 26, missing from cruise ship, July 2005

I caught a few minutes of this this afternoon, and there is real doubt about the room service alibi. It seems that the boys' stateroom is on Deck 3, and the Smiths' was on Deck 9. If the neighbor saw 3 or 4 guys leaving at 4:15, there is no way that they were in their room to receive room service at 4:20. One of the lawyers intimated that it was easy to manipulate the clock on the camera which the boys used to photograph the feast. No one mentioned that the 4:20 on the room service receipt might have referred to the time the order was received.

I watched Cathryn Crier w/ Lisa Bloom this afternoon. They discussed the same exact things as Abrams. They said new information will be discussed. Nothing was new to me, I have heard all this same info before. I wish when they said new, that it would really be something new. Can't wait till they dish the dirt!

This was the first time I had heard what deck the boys' cabin was on. They did mention that some of the boys are named Rosenberg; I had only heard of Rusty Kofman and Josh Askins. All the lawyers are trying to put their spin on things, I guess. But I have never seen a lawyer for the Rosenbergs on any of the shows...

I just watched Scarborough Country which discussed this topic of the 4 guys who were last seen with George. Like Joe and guests said the taking pictures of the overly normal amounts of food ordered from room service at that odd hour was done as they were setting up their express alibi.

The gal stated she had heard about this right away about the Russian men, so it is nothing new to her. But there is one thing I remember from the early days of the case that I have not heard discussed at all as of late. One of the four men was a young buck from San Diego who has never said word one to the press, but we did learn one thing about why from the media. He lawyered up right away with the help of his parents. Very suspicious I think!

Also, with the kind of info we get on this case, I don't think you can really discern the proper order of time in which that 'bump' took place acc. to the next door neighbor. We just don't know enough accurate info. They say he could not have seen that there were 4 men that left that room because the hall was too narrow for 4 men to walk abreast in that narrow hall. But he could have seen the 4th man as he left the room and then turned to walk behind the other 3 guys.

I was glad to hear though that a Grand Jury is commencing very soon - next week I think. I think suddenly most everything is falling into place. I seem to think the young San Diego traveler could end up being involved in the thick of it!

ETA: I'm thinking these guys had been partying with George and knew he had won a lot of money that night on the ship, which he did. George was extremely intoxicated from drinking that special 'A . .' alcoholic drink, and think by the time these guys got George to his room since George was beyond walking, they took his money, maybe gave him a bye bye thankyou as a severe whack over the head and sent him bounding over the railing to the awning below. There was a bit of blood in the room which helps tell the tale. And there was one heavy pooling of blood on the awning - one spot where there was a noticibly darker spot than anywhere else, which would have been where the wound he received bled into a deeper pool and dried that way. In his condition I think they will find George had limp legs and no way could have even walked out of his room to the railing and fallen over it by accident!

Think it was in the last three weeks I viewed one tv show compilation that described that these males who were the last ones with George were thrown off the ship after the following night alledgedly drugging & raping a young woman claiming that it was consensual. It was stated that video equipment was set up by them to record their activity, however don't recall whether the video was located & if so who's possession in which it is. Think it was Italy where these males were thrown off the ship.

VAN SUSTEREN: Yes, first let's start with that and then we'll get to the inconsistency or lack thereof.

GREER: And what would you like to know about the Absinthe?

VAN SUSTEREN: Who brought it to the ship?

GREER: Actually the actual bottle itself, Greta that was actually George brought that on the boat when they got back from Florence.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. How did you client meet George or where did he meet him on the ship?

GREER: Yes, they saw each other in passing several times on the voyage. They didn't actually meet until they went to Florence that day together and shared the cab ride and got a chance to talk with each other, get to know each other, then took the cab back that day from Florence.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right, so the night of July 4th going into the 5th, your client and George and others are drinking this Absinthe is that right?

GREER: Yes, well they were drinking a lot of other things too but Absinthe was being consumed. There was some of that bottle left from the Florence trip. George had several shots of it. A number of the other guests did also.

Not that I know of. But Jennifer was on GMA yesterday and is going to be on again today. It's central time here and it hasn't been on yet. Will be on in a few. Diane just said this part is very emotional and showed a clip of Jennifer crying. She says she has not been able to keep her job. Just watched Jennifer on GMA and George's family stopped all contact with her shortly after the incident. There will be more of the interview on "Primetime Live" tonight.

Does his family believe she had something to do with it? Prime Time Live is about this case tonight? Thanks for the info Kato!

You're welcome. Not the whole show.

I don't know if they think she had anything to do with it as much as they don't believe she's telling them everything she knows. She says LE has asked her not to discuss what she knows or has been told.

The new issue of Vanity Fair (it has Teri Hatcher on the cover) has an interesting article about this case. It's called "Honeymoon Over".

As in the Natalle Holloway case, there is no evidence of a crime.

Jennifer is like Joran Van der Sloot, another victim of our crimetainment denizens, e.g., Nancy Grace et al.

It's a good thing Scott Peterson didn't know he could drop Laci off his cruise ship balcony and get off scott-free.

Was there not evidence of some sort of "scuffle," noise made and blood outside the cabin? I'd say that's evidence of a possible crime.

Evidence of a crime is vastly different from suspicion of a crime.

How about the picture of the big glob of blood on the balcony??  Well, at least Wudge you are saying there is a suspicion of a crime. We're making progress.
