Turkey - Jacky Sutton, 50, British journalist, dies in airport restroom, 17 Oct 2015

4 knives seems excessive for self inflicted wounds or attempted suicide.

Not for a crazy person. Plus one would think four attackers (or the officials) would take the extra knives with them if they were trying to stage a suicide.

She 'hanged' herself, so marks around neck prove no murder. If there is something under her fingernails, we dont know how meticulous Turks are when they conduct autopsy and whether they want to find out the truth or only to 'prove suicide'.

But when it comes to holiday in Turkey, my friend said she was aggressively pursued by local muslim men amd shop vendors, that ruined her holiday, she'll never go back.

I agree with your friend. I visited Kusadasi (Ephesus) on the western coast of Turkey. I found the men were very aggressive to the point of following you out of the shops. They just don't take no for an answer. I was uncomfortable to say the least.

Wonder if the washroom ( toilet ) cleaning person, washes the mop at the same time regularly?

rbbm.

"Now police say ex-BBC woman's death was suspicious: Doubts over suicide claim as officers admit they are not certain "

."According to an official at Turkish Airlines, Miss Sutton’s Irbil ticket was cancelled at 11.45pm when she failed to go to the boarding gate. Later, she is said to have gone to the transfer desk and become ‘distressed’ when she was told she would need to buy a new ticket. The official said their records indicated that Miss Sutton did not purchase a new one.

Her body was later found in a toilet cubicle near passport control. A cleaner at the airport said: ‘The lady who looks after those toilets had gone off to wash her mop and it happened when she was gone. It happened within ten minutes.

‘Apparently some Russian tourists noticed her legs dangling under the door. They called the police."

From Daily Mail

A Foreign Office spokesman said: ‘Our embassy staff are assisting Jacky Sutton’s family.’ But Miss Sutton’s eldest sister Alison, a child psychologist, said that none of the authorities had been in touch with her.
It is understood that British security officials are not currently involved in the investigation.

So British officials havent even bothered to contact the family.
Also if Turks are willing to cover this up, no quarantees there will be any evidence left. Three days have passed and we have heard nothing from coroner' office.
Even if family wants a second autopsy, dont be sure that they get anything more than just a box of ashes.

Her death is more than suspicious. It is looking more and more like a murder.

From the article:

"...they revealed she had 2,300 euros in her bag."

"At 12.15am she was due to fly on to Irbil, "

Usually airlines allow 30 minutes to pre board a flight which means the calls to the gate would begin around 11:45 so why did this happen next?

"But, according to an official at Turkish Airlines, Miss Sutton’s Irbil ticket was cancelled at 11.45pm when she failed to go to the boarding gate."

I don't think it was cancelled because she failed to go to the gate. I think it was purposely cancelled because someone with authority already had her in a back room and was questioning her. Many times people are late for their flight and they would not normally cancel a ticket exactly at the time boarding was beginning. The only way I see this happening at exactly 11:45 is someone had her in a back room and knew she was not going on that flight. They knew she was not going to make her flight because they had her.

I also don't believe this statement at all:

"Later, she is said to have gone to the transfer desk and become ‘distressed’ when she was told she would need to buy a new ticket. The official said their records indicated that Miss Sutton did not purchase a new one."

Because look at where she was found...

"Her body was later found in a toilet cubicle near passport control."

So "Passport Control" is an area that is adminstrative related. It is not a normal ticket counter. Someone with authority had her and that same person had access to the ticket system. So they lied because "transfer desk" is NOT "Passport Control".

Investigators need to look internally to see who cancelled her ticket and find out who was working in Passport Control office at the time. This is very scary. I think it is some authority figures at the airport involved. I don't think it was someone from another country following her there.

I also think someone should talk to the bathroom cleaning lady who supposedly had to go clean her mop because I can almost guarantee someone told her to leave. Because she could clean her mop right in the bathroom at the sinks to get sink water. She did not need to leave the bathroom to clean the mop.

This is an inside job IMO which is very scary.

Family has now released statement nothing suspicious about her death and 'she acted alone'

It is a "Joint Statement" from IWPR and the family.

Now I am even more convinced a murder has taken place. This is a "Joint Statement" and obviously was created for the safety of other IWPR employees.

Remember, her predecessor was just killed in a car bomb and she had recently attended the funeral.

This statement is just given for the security and safety of others but I can almost guarantee that they all still think a murder has occurred. Its just they don't want to say that publicly anymore. They are going to pursue their own internal investigation as soon as they can.

When you read the whole article you can see the inferred things going on here.
They are trying to downplay this international incident and they know full well that Turkey doesn not want bad press. They also know Turkey tourism could decline and officials are mad at them. Other lives are at risk if they continue down the path of accusations until they can prove it. They need to prove it first and cannot do so because they do not have enough evidence yet so lawyers for IWPR and family have met and agreed to this.

"IWPR and the family will be seeking a further assessment from an independent investigative expert in order to confirm the findings once the Turkish investigation is complete."

"Although investigation is still ongoing, in order to avoid further distress to family members and friends of Jacky, and given the widespread speculation about the circumstances of her death, we therefore state the following:"

"At the request of the family of Jacqueline Sutton, the Institute for War & Peace Reporting and the family release the following joint statement:"

This part below tells me that they could have been strictly limited in what they were given:

"Based on an extensive review of the information provided by Turkish authorities"

My opinion on this has only strengthened that she has been murdered.

I dont know how close she was to her family. She spent lots of time away from England, studying in Australia, working in Middle East and Africa. So i dont know how often they met or how well they did know her.
Her colleagues who worked with her side by side, stated that
it doesnt sound like her. She just accepted a new job, had lots of plans.
I dont think she had any children , she was once married, but divorced, but she had students, younger colleagues that loved her.

But the family quickly accepted she was unstable and suicidal, but one might say she wasnt suicidal in that mine field in Iraq, as she was quick to get out!!

You made many good points.

Also, why would a suicidal person become distressed over having to buy a new ticket? Why would a suicidal person even need a new ticket?

That being said I am not sure if we can speculate any further as family has accepted the official version of events and doesnt want any publicity.
Whats the policy?
Maybe make this private,?

I understand the difficulties of this job, she lost at least 3 of her colleagues lately, one died in bombing, two female colleagues were gunned down. Maybe she reached to her breaking point? But a collegue who met her just a week ago said she was 'in high spirits', This kind of thing doesnt come out of the blue, but requires some 'consideration and planning and person has to be 'down' or depressed for some time.

It interesting just yesterday police said her death was suspicious.
Also yesterday her sister claimed by Daily Mail that 'noone in the Foreign Office' has even contacted the family but today she already has viewed the body?
Its all very shady indeed, also dubious reports she had no money etc

In the video from the airport, she appears to be wearing athletic shoes. I can't see how she would be led into the bathroom, her laces removed, the door locked, be hanged, and the assailant get away under the stall without someone hearing or seeing something. Perhaps she was afraid of something happening to her at her destination and decided to end it on her own terms. I admit that oftentimes the truth is stranger than fiction, and if she was murdered, I hope justice is served. She fought hard to bring the truth to the world, and the circumstances of her death deserve the truth too. I believe she would want that, regardless of how painful it would be.

Remember when they roughed up a black American woman at that same Atatürk airport -who also missed her flight and traveled alone, and who died as a result.

Good Grief. No I never heard about that case. WOW.

Seems like a pattern is developing. Counting the article from the FB person that wrote their experience, this is the 3rd such incident of people "missing flights".

Im beginning to wonder if its a ruse just to make money. Make someone miss their flight and make them buy another high dollar plane ticket. And of course only do that to people you don't like from another country. And if they don't want to pay up and argue then that's it for them.

"For reasons unknown, she never caught her flight back to the States"

IMO we do know the reason she missed her flight because according to this article she had to go to "Passport Control". So here we go again with this Passport Control office.

If you are ever in that Airport and they don't let you board and tell you that you have to go to the Passport Control office then you may as well ask for a minister to give your last rites.

"But it appears she missed her flight, and is seen on CCTV at about 9.50pm approaching what seems to be passport control."

According to the article she attacked one of the airport workers on CCTV after an argument.

Sensible people would avoid any sort of ugly encounter that could land them in a Turkish prison. It isn't the US and they don't tolerate physical attacks or the destruction of property. Only a fool or a crazy person would start messing with Turkish security or police.

By 10.01pm, she wasn't visible on camera anymore, and is next seen on CCTV at 4am, six hours later.

This footage shows her trying to jump over the counter, attack a computer and throw papers.

The 48 year old also had scissors in her hand, and used them to injure one of the officers hands.

I agree that I would just fold and do whatever they wanted but I think we need to question both the reporting and also what really happened and whether the security people were threatening Mrs Brown before anything got to that point where Mrs Brown was resisting.
She may have been threatened and she may have been trying to save her life at that point before she even resisted or caused a disturbance.

From the FB article witness it seems she was threatened and from the original article here we were first told some possible falsehoods about what happened.

So I dont think we can assume Mrs Brown just all of a sudden started acting up. I think it is very possible the only reason she acted up was because she may have been fearing bodily harm at that point.

In the beginning of video we see she peacefully entered the room with her belongings, probably asked something, when multiple security officers just grabbed her and pushed her down and started to drag her.
It was kept hush hush, since Turkey indeed is an ally,
I think there was no excuse for causing her death.
